>> frank: asheville regional airport has charged some uber drivers with criminal trespassing. >> tammy: news 13's zack green is live at the airport. why is there a problem with the system? >> zack: they're all stemming from uber drivers not having an permit. while the application may seem easy enough, uber drivers are falling short. joe is heading off to work. but as a full time uber driver, he's now on alert when picking up his riders. the popular ride share app is running in to issues. >> that makes pick a passenger up at an airport and charge them a fee for a service, then they typically have to apply for a permit.

quickly turning in to legal problems. >> they're sending out cease and desist letters to all the drivers. if they catch them again whether it be dropping off or picking up, they're giving them a criminal summons to go to court and charge them with a crime. >> zack: airport officials say it's simply getting the ground transport permimi that will alleviate all the issues. >> we certainly welcome them here once they are permitted. >> they want us to pay for a permit that we can't even get. >> zack: since uber drivers are . >> we're not a commercial vehicle. >> zack: since they are a newer service, there are problems to work out on both ends. >> a lot of procedures are catching up and we are learning

police. >> frank: today a woman turned herself in to face animal cruelty charges after seeing herself on the news last night according to court officials. >> darcel: a disturbing case county. >> frank: ashlea, she abandoned these animals? >> ashlea: one of them is in very bad shape undergoing surgerii at an animal hospital. we should warn you some of these images are graphic. calls came in about a dog with extremely matted fur. at the home on landrum road, no one answered the door. but on the property, sergeant michael herman discovered little dog wiener.

do whatever they want with it. well that's not the way i look at it. >> ashlea: the sheriff says snoozy willl likely be put up for a dopgs. but right now undergoing medical procedures. >> tammy: new tonight, two upstate lawmakers are calling for an end to same-sex marriage in south carolina despite the landmark ruling last year. the majority of residents in south carolina are against same-sex marriage. so taxpayers in the state shouldn't be footing the bill for a decision made by the federal government. regardless, one local lgbt rights activists says they're wasting their time. >> i think this is clearly a publicity stunt and has no way of gaining any traction.

my40 at 6:30, finin out how they plan to challenge the supreme court ruling on gay marriage. >> frank: the state is changing how it m msures new charter schools. current policy says the state can revoke a school's charter if proficiency standards are not met for two of three consecutive years. now a new policy will allow schools to operate under a label inadequately performing. in the eyes of charter schools, this will help their style of education. >> this puts charters a little bit more closely aligned with the expectations and mandates that the state has for all public schools. >> frank: accororng to the state board of education, there are zero low performing charter schools in western north carolina. >> tammy: allf the miners stuck in an underground

the elevator carrying them got stuck. emergency workers made contact with the miners before the rescue efforts began. crews managed to provide heat packs and blankets to the miners so they could remain warm during the rescue operation. >> extremely relieved and happy to say that they're out. okay. all 17 miners that were stuck in the shaft in the elevator has been saaly removed. >> tammy: the mine processes salt that is used to treat roads wintry weather. >> jason: a little chilly but today was mild. upper 50s and even 60s overall. that was nice. we're going to knock a lot of these temperatures down tomorrow. farther east in the foothills and piedmont, we're going to knock 10 degrees. bobone it's still 50s. even a few 60s still out there

some cirrus clouds overhead. 47 degrees, even at that elevation, 3400 feet up. it is mild. mild before we go a little wild, if you will. the clouds advancing on the ray radar now. rain not happening just yet. but it will. scattered showers in the forecast tomorrrr. probably the first half of the day i think is going to get wetter at 50%. it's not everybody getting wet tomorrow. just scattered showers. more likely to find rain on saturday. it will be off and on. chances pretty high. 70%. more scattered to widespread showers. 30% for chances of rain and even some snow flakes mixed in there early sunday. yeah, it's going to get a lot colder. northwest wind to push over the mountains. 55 degrees in asheville now. mostly clear east-southeast wind at 7.

degrees. so we have the wind east-southeasterly here in asheville. pushing the wind down from the east and northeast. that affected our areas east. not so much in the asheville area or upstate. we thought the cool wedge was going to make it all the way to the upstate. it didn't. temperatures were about 10 degrees warmer than they thought. temperatures in the 50s and 60s today. a little cooler tomorrow. we're going to knock about 10 degrees off the high temperatures today in many cases east and south. there go the showers coming in by saturday afternoon and evening. it is a system from the mississippi valley that's actually well to the west of us now over southern arizona and that's going to push through and bring us a decent shot of rain. once it goes east, it is really going to chill down, folks. the high temperatures probably

7 o'clock in the morning. few showers. nothing widespread. better chance of rain in the lunch hour on saturday. scattered, numerous showers on saturday evening. rain fall amounts very little coming in the next 24 hours. but a little more as we get down the road in to saturday. you could see about a quarter to half an inch. temperatures in the 30s tonight for asheville and close to freezing, if not touching it in the northern mountains. 40s in the upstate. temps tomorrow. yeah, they're still going to get in to the 50s but low 50s. temperatures will stay a little on the milder side. above average on saturday. look at the 30s return monday. close to 30s there's going toe plenty of wind involved. in the upstate, you'll feel the
