something to make the street brighter. i want people to be aware we are watching. >> asheville police, i caught up with them earlier this morning. they say this appears to be an isolated incident. they say this type of crime is difficult to solve because of the lack of evidence left behind. they say surveillance cameras are the best way to catch someone in the act. parking your vehicle inside is another option. in the past 10 to 15 minutes or so, we have had other people coming up to us in the community here saying they have gone around and counted nine or 10 vehicles that have been vandalized including their own. if you have fallen victim to this crime, you can file a police report with police. that number to call is -- >> if you want a taste of winter this weekend, ski season is in full swing at catloochi.

and mid 40's. a few areas slightly cooler than that. however, definitely warmer than what we saw yesterday at this time. we'll continue with that trend today as well as tomorrow. afternoon highs rivaling where we should be for this time of year. i would say enjoy it but the clouds and the rain putting a little bit of damper on things. 46 in asheville. you see overcast skies, calm winds for the moment. we'll only get to 5 miles an hour, light and variable is how i would describe it. look at the humidity and the dew point is going to be juiced up just a little bit when you see those elevated into the 40's across our region for this time of year, that's when you'll spawn off showers. the rain at this point has moved off in many locations. for those in the upstate, low lying clouds and even dense fog at times. take a look at your radar and satellite, the majority is east of i-26. we'll call it spotty and isolated, especially through the afternoon hours where most of

the southwest. we'll quiet things down even later on. that is the good news, especially after the rerecent rains we have seen. a lot of people will be enjoying some of the drier conditions. but this is just round one of the rain as we head into the weekend, we get another batch rolling through. this will be impacting us for saturday in the late day, late afternoon and evening hours. only going to be increasing as we headd overnight into sunday morning. at that point, maybe moderate to heavier accumulations at times. the stationary front will be bringing that band of rain to the east coast. this is what we want to focus our efforts on, an area of low pressure wouldn't associate an area of low pressure, it will be picking up the moisture content from the gulf of mexico and spinning that in towards the mountains. at that point, that's when we see the bigger implications, not flooding concerns but moderate to heavy accumulation upwards of an inch in locations.

off, spotty showers this afternoon. overcast skies are sticking around in the overnight hours. i think maybe fog will be developing for tomorrow morning as we could see a break in the cloud cover here and there. as that front continues to progress, we'll see a broadband of rain rolling through for saturday afternoon and engulfing the region overnight. after sunday morning, we'll quiet things down, we are looking at quiet conditions for the next seven days. all of next work week is looking dry. however, very chilly. as i mentioned, really minimal in terms of activity for today. picking up maybe a half an inch to three-quarters of an inch in many mountain locations. localized areas could see an inch. we'll drop off those storm chances sunday afternoon. we start to clearhings out. by monday, not seeing anything in terms of rainshowers. take a look at temperatures. we'll fall back down. this afternoon, our average for this time of year we'll be in the upper 40's to low 50's from monday all the way through thursday.

affecting apple today. >> stocks are finally seeing positive action for midday trading. let's get you to the board, at noon, the dow was up 16 points at 16530. the nasdaq up 12 at 4701. the markets have been volatile the last few days. one particularly hard hit stock has been apple. shares of the tech company plunged another 4%, bringing the stock price below $100 a share. apple stock has lost 28% of its high. many expected demand would help offset sales. china financial issues could crimp demand for the iphone. >> jcpenney reported a 4% increase in comparable sales. the department store chain said warm weather cut into clothing sales but declines were offset. the company is looking to
