family and friends try to put the pieces together. >> brenda hardy, whose brother was the gentleman lost in the fire. >> one of our concerns was with brenda who's very close to all of us. she lived right across from jack and pat. so she had to see the whole ordeal. >> hope: the loss is weighing on the whole family. >> it's just a musical family all the way down. >> hope: jack was an original member of the stoney creek blues. >> i have told that the only remaining item was the guitar. that the case was burned but not the guitar.

a family of six made it out safely. they credit smoke detectors for alerting them to the danger. fire crews say this is an example of how smoke alarms can save your life. >> most of your fires will occur during night time hours when everyone is asleep. you need a way to get out. >> darcel: about half was damaged by the fire itself. >> larry: new at 5, deputies are looking for the thief who stole several guns and hundreds of rounds of ammunition from a homeowner in marion. it happened on the 14,000 block of highway 221 north. investigators say a wallet, two backpacks and other items were taken as well.

two buncombe county deputies following a use of force complaint has some questioning why the deputy's body camera video hasn't been made public. the sheriff denied news 13's request to see the video citing personnel law and the rights of the people who made the complaint. news 13's rex hodge is live at the franklin police department. rex, officers there just started using them this weekend. how's it going so far? >> rex: no problems in the last couple of days. the police chief here says it's a new law enforcement tool that comes with benefits and also some new things to learn. for one thing it's a lot of video that has to be stored. there will be questions about the public's privacy and privacy for his own personnel and when and how body camera video can be used in court.

and this right here is smoky park highway. in this vicinity right about here is where this bridge, what people are calling a bridge is being constructed. it's on the south side of smoky park highway right in this vicinity real close to here. and it's going to access property here that's real close to the sports complex. we've had several questions about this, including one caller who said what's being built across the food in candler. i spoke to a supervisor on site from nhm constructors, one of the contractors. he says this is a bridge being built for access for a new sports complex and resource center.

are developing a 5 and a half million dollar complex. it's being built on what used to part of the enka basf plant site. i spoke on the phone with martin lewis of fletcher partners. he says it will include seven ball fields on the 90-acre site. right now he says they are still working on the retail development and they have no solid announcement. at least not yet. but the site could accommodate a costco, wal-mart or any other big box store. if one of the big chains will move in to the center, that still remains to be seen. if you have a question for us, you can write me here at ask 13 at wlos.com. darcel.

here comes the clipper. it's a south moving cold front from canada. this is 6 o'clock in the evening. the cold front has moved by then. the snow showers begin in the high country. i say high country because anything near or along the tennessee border, has a chance. you go east of the blue ridge. the high will settle south. boost our temperatures back in the 50s come thursday. watch these wind vectors here. there's 7 o'clock in the morning. they start to really howl through our neck of the woods by the afternoon. these are north to northwest winds. clouds already moving in the mountains.
