we'll have more on the snowfall which tapered in the afternoon. right now there is more light snow falling in the mountains. jason boyer joins us with our skywatch forecast. jason, even if you're not seeing snow, you're feeling frigid temperatures. >> jason: bundle up. wear plenty of layers and check on the pets because they too are suss eseptibleceptible to chill. we still have some good bursts of snow. near along the tennessee border, the valleys could see up to half an inch. the idea is most of these snow bands will be working through the next hour to two hours and then they're gone. wind chill advisories have been issued from midnight tonight until noon monday for wind chill values.

wind chill valleyuesvalues. look at that, teens below zero in some of the highest elevations. i'll see you again in a few minutes. we'll talk about more warmth rather than chill. >> ashlea: we have an update tonight on a rockslide that closed a portion of town mountain road this afternoon. one lane of traffic is now open. the road in both directions was blocked for about six hours starting around 2:15 today. news 13's justin hinton is there live. justin, what's the plan moving forward? >> justin: they'll come back out here tomorrow to continue that removal process. >> we were just trying to get downtown. >> justin: pointing and staring. a typical sunday on town mountain road. after a rockslide blocked traffic in both directions starting just after 2:00 p.m. >> i've lived here probably 14

quite like this. >> justin: if dirt and rocks covering the road weren't enough for the department of transportation, how about adding a boulder? >> a big slide is pretty common but a rock that big? no. >> justin: calling in reinforcements. firefighters already on scene. and begin the process of removing everything that fell. >> i think with all the rain we had over the past month or so probably just freezing and thawing it, it just came loose. >> justin: just back and forth. piece by piece. >> very lucky that no one came by at the time. >> justin: remove it however long it takes. the dot called it a night about 8:30. the dot did put two lights. one down here and another up the road to help with that traffic flow for that one lane that is open. again, they will return tomorrow

and a student, who is reportedly headed home. >> ashlea: a fayetteville man is responsible for an armed robbery that happened at a local convenient store last thursday. andrew dalton was taken in to custody on friday night in the hold-up of the triangle stop on chimney rock road. dalton is in the henderson county detention facility on $60,000 bond. he's due in court on tuesday. and free health screenings are being offered to help the uninsured and under insured here in the mountains. arden community health fair kicked off today. organizers say events like this one today even with the passage of the affordable healthcare act are still really important. >> we still find there are a lot of people who may have insurance but the deductible is so high

helping them as much as they'd like to. >> ashlea: the health fair continues tomorrow. appointments are not required. the democratic presidential candidates have just wrapped up their final debate before the iowa caucus. the most recent poll showed hillary clinton and bernie sanders were virtually tied going in to tonight. candidates took the stage in chchleston. aaron adelson is live outside the debate hall. >> ashlea: hillary clinton has been attacking bernie sanders all week on gun control. clinton says sanders voted for a law that enabled the charleston shooter to buy a gun when he shouldn't have. over here is mother emanuel, the site of the shooting. hillary clinton says bernie

the ocean didn't go well. spacex launched a rocket. but things went wrong. spacex didn't elaborate on what went wrong. that was the fourth failure for the company. spacex wants to be able to reuse its rockets so it could cut the cost of its space flights. and a couple in california had very good reasons to throw a party. they celebrated their wedding anniversary. and on top of that, he turned 100. the entire family was there to mark the occasion from their kids all the way down to their great-great-great grandkids. they're not too long from setting a record for the longest record ever recorded.

10% chance of any snow tomorrow. monday's dry. tuesday's dry. 30% chance of some rain. we get back to more rain than anything else i think on thursday. in the mountains, you get higher chances of at least seeing some snow. 30% tonight in to early tomorrow. 40% chance rain-snow mix wednesday. 50% chance of snow returning to the high country here in western north carolina. some of that may accumulate. right now it's way early in the game to say how much or what if those kind of scenarios. north wind at 14. that wind chill is down to 18. bundle up. lots of layers, folks, and check on the pets. make sure they have either straw or blankets to keep warm if they can't come inside. it goes off the coast by morning. and that cold northwesterly wind will be with us the next 24 to 36 hours. it will be that unrelenting wind here through the french broad river valley. so the wind chills easily in the

not much better than the teens tomorrow afternoon. high clouds eventually scouring out those clouds and putting us in the less windy side. mountain snow showers by late week. there are the snow showers waning here overnight. by monday morning, everyone pretty much on the clear side. it will feel pretty miserable in the afternoon if you're outside. don't be deceived by the sunshine. high totals, again, mostly the border counties. we could see up to an inch of snow. valleys, a half an inch. we'll see temperatures in the 20s down south over the upstate. look at the highs tomorrow from teens in newland to low 20s burnsville. upper 20s souther mountains and asheville, the same. 40s for you in the upstate. teens for lows tonight.
