3 weather is to blame for a car accident that killed an illinois corrections officer. it happened on an interstate, south of mount vernon. the victim was 22-year-old adam conrad of sandoval. he was transporting a 17-year-old prisoner when he lost control of his vehicle due to icy conditions. the van spun into oncoming traffic and was hit by a semi-truck. the crash blocked the interstate for hours and hundreds of drivers were stuck in the gridlock. 3 "we were frustrated but more than anything, i was just thankful to be in the position i was rather than be the family members at home that were going to be getting a phone call that their family members were involved the accident." the 17-year-old prisoner survived the accident, but is hospitalized with injuries. 3 3 family and friends of two o missing students gathered at a beach in california to reflect. the search started monday evening when a group of people got stuck on the rocks. rescue crews say a large wave came and knocked three into the ocean. one made it back safely but the other two were swept out to sea. 3 1:11- 1:21 "we are asking the

anyone to please...would god help us. show us what we can. we are doing our best." 3 some cried, others just gazed into the ocean. they talked about the great character these two young students possessed. and say the search was called off too soon. 3 3 the search continues for a two-year-old boy who disappeared last week in tennessee. noah chamberlin disappeared january 14-th while he and his family walked in the woods near his home. authorities say they have a few leads in the disappearance, and they believe the boy may still be alive in the woods. the chester county sheriff says it is quite possible the two-year-old traveled a good distance. 3 3 3 the michigan state house approved 28-million dollars in emergency funding for the water crisis in flint. flint's mayor says costs to undo the damage could reach one- point-five billion dollars. the city's water problem began in 20-14, when the state temporarily switched the city's water source to save money. experts found the water to be highly corrosive and

3 health advocacy groups are collecting signatures for a california ballot initiative that would raise the cigarette tax by two dollars. the measure would place equivalent taxes on tobacco products including e-cigarettes. the state superintendent joined local lawmakers in announcing the initiative in sacramento yesterday. health advocates say the goal isn't to increase tax revenue, but decrease tobacco use. 3 43-56 "if you raise the price of cigarettes, people smoke less. people respond to price, in particular, young people don't start. so, to a large extent, what we are trying to do is to dis-incent young people from ever starting smoking." the new tax revenue would be put into cancer and medical research. 3 3 amazon-dot-com says it will offer refunds to anyone who bought hoverboards on its website. the move comes amid growing concerns that the two- wheeled balance boards are not safe and a fire hazard. the consumer product safety commission is investigating more than three dozen instances of hoverboards
