chief meteorologist jason boyar join us with the skywatch forecast. >> hard to believe but we have snow coming down and accumulating i i the high country. this is the backside of that storm in the northwest flow. all of that snow keeps coming into the mountains. so madison. heywood, yancy country the proof is in the pudding. news 13 sky network 4,000 feet up on the heywood madison county line. 13 degrees and it's still coming down. can can see so. flakes. rather large flakes at best coming down and coating the grounds more and adding to the deep snow pack already. there twelve plus inchs in a lot of case. teens for temperatures north, 20s for temperatures south. and even below freezing that hour in grier and gaj anys. throw in the whipped on top of that it's been miserable today and especially in high revelations wind gusts over 40 miles an hour much of the day and wind chills down top five. that's feels like temperatures

teens elsewhere to low 20s in grier. it's not an evening to take lightly. so if you don't have to be out don't venture out, of course, and if you have to layer up. this evening we're expecting bitter cold to contain and blowing snow tonight. low wind chills. subzero many cases and black ice and tomorrow melting finally begins. so we'll see changes of course but that wind is just going to keep on cranking through the area. we'll have big time issues. so the winter storm warnings continue for much of the west of north carolinaof north carolina reej regions and winter weather advisory in purple up long the 85 corridor and north georgia for black ice as well. of course, karen, some of the road conditions are worse now than they were at the hite of the storm. >> that's because there's so much blowing snow. we have that heavy snow and now it's all blow around and t tals just crazy. we were just kind of shaking our heads a few minutes ago and talk about smashing the records

yesterday and latest totals south of old for the 19" of the storm and maggie valley 18.5 and hendersonville almost 16" of snow and soluda over 14 and then we take a look at road conditions like these in black mountain. we can see that it looks like the road was treat aid little bit. bit of melt. but, of course that refreezing is ice. sky cam network showing current temperatures of 22 degrees. so you talk about slick travelsso you talk about slick travels. definitely a night to stay at home if if you can. if you have to be out on the roads do it safe. make sure you have a cellphone charger and check batty and pack a blavrket and have sand or kitty litter on hand with a small shovel and water too and of course again the safest place to be is going to be inside at home. >> warm and snug. like i said those roads are now packed with ice. it refroze in certain terms of melt, the take it easy guys.

biggest factor. live in henderson county. erin addison us in 13. >> it was eye opening snow totals we've been talking about sometimes come with a painful price from sledding to shoveling injuries mount. news 13 john lee is live and experts seeing people hurt in the snow. >> that's right, the sound ever a snowplow in the area at this point a lot of cleaning up to do except for the last couple days we're not used to the snow which means we might be prone to be injured in the snow. now, earlier this afternoon we were out at strous park it's sledding hub a traditional sledding hub in barvard. a lot of folks were enjoying that today. mission hospital says they've already seenen six injuries related to sledding. and across the country, some 20,000 people are injured each year due to such accidents. >> i think yesterday one of the

what we found secondary roads people thought they might be able to get by some of the highways more difficult to travel and then dot crews came through and roads are looking good for a portion of the day. so thinking they would be able toe get back into homes and some of those less traveled roads and we're finding a lot of problems on those particular roads all that slushy mix thereroads all that slushy mix there. some folks go off and ditches and things along those lines. we talked to a couple drivers saying that. a lot of different conditions out there today and saying some of those things are dangerous on the secondary roads. >> and so again, the key is really some of these are trying to take off in the parking lot.
