public input to build a park. the committee also discussed creating a park planning committee while also involving the public. >> i think the committee decided on a full public engagement process for haywood street properties. that's something as a staff we look forward to working with the community. >> tammy: counsel has not officially voted on the site. most members are in favor for the park. coming up at 6, hear what one councilman wants to do. >> larry: many parents are upset. they're planning an awareness walk before the hearing. what is their message, rex? >> rex: to show their support for central elementary and to tell the school board it's worth keeping.

public hearing at 7 o'clock tomorrow night. the school board itself is set for the formal vote at its february 8th meeting. rex hodge, news 13. >> tammy: some local teachers and administrators could soon be allowed to carry guns in school. two upstate representatives are among those co-sponsoring the school protection officer act. it would allow certain trained school employees to come to work armed in south carolina. an upstate anti-gun activist is speaking out against this proposed legislation. >> there's a possibility a child could grab the officer's gun. a gun could accidentally go off if an officer were to make a bad move and cause an accidental death. >> tammy: we reach out to local lawmakers backing this guns in schools proposal.

kind of a break for you in franklin. robbinsville, toccoa, bryson city, waynesville, stretching up in to madison county. imbedded showers at least over areas like marshall, burnsville, highway 19 e getting weather, too. in to mitchell county. in the next hour and a half, this is going to slide its way east ward. henderson, mcdowell and even polk county. right now it's 50 degrees under cloudy skies in asheville. with a south-southwest wind at 8. 20s to the 50s this afternoon. here it is in short term. rain chances very high at 7:00 p.m. all the way through midnight. dropping to 40% by morning. we go even lower than that to 10% by lunch time tomorrow. tomorrow's weather will not be in place.

40% chance of shower earlier tomorrow. look at the rest of the weekend. nothing friday and saturday. those two days, we will see a dramatic shift from chilly to much milder for the weekend. great timing there. there goes the front slowly out to sea. tomorrow we'll dry up. a weak system hugging the coast. we will move far enough out to see that we won't see anything of consequence from it. we get a little chillier. a system on friday. that will bring a little more chill. the showers moving east ward. there's midnight tonight. already drying out in our western communities. in the morning, just not a lot of moisture around. so the freezing rain will be mostly freezing drizzle i think. don't expect any icing really in the city. we'll see clearing skies tomorrow late day. and in to thursday, it's all about sunshine as well. the rainfall amounts, less than
