>> justin: really just for the school to stay open at this point in time. if you look around, you can see a lot of students and parents are gathered here. they're really trying to raise awareness. in a few minutes they're going to head to the courthouse to let the people in the community know what's going on. and they'll come back for this meeting. the haywood county already approved stems from decreasing of stated funding. that means some things have to be cut. one reason they're looking at central elementary, they say they could save half a million dollars each year just by having those students enrolled elsewhere. >> it's important to let the school board know we're not going to take this lightly. >> justin: so they're going to march to downtown waynesville and return to the school tonight. at about 7 o'clock, there's going to be a public hearing that's scheduled so they will be voicing their opinion to let the

do not want the school district to close. justin hinton, news 13. >> frank: and news 13 wants to know, do you think central elementary school should be closed or should it remain open? log to to facebook.com/news 13 to answer our question of the day. >> tammy: authorities say it happened along i 75 in murrieta. the georgia state patrol says a suspect was also shot. no word on conditions of the trooper and the suspect. >> frank: marlean allen is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon. and james allen is charged with conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon. deputies say they responded to a home near clayton homes to find that a victim had been robbed at knife point. they say her prescription pain medications were stolen.

the asheville humane society is helping to save 600 animals involved in an animal cruelty case in hoke county. several complaints of sick animals adopted from a facility. authorities found more than 300 dogs, 250 cats and 40 horses all being kept in filthy conditions. many without protection from the elements. >> well you've got animals out here with open wounds. you've got animals that's got obvious skin conditions. animals that appear to be malnutritioned. different things like that. >> frank: the owners of the facility were arrested and charged with animal cruelty. the asheville humane society will work with authorities. >> tammy: several crews battled a fire at a home in henderson

the fire was put out around 1:00. no one was home at the time. the cause of the fire is under investigation. officialselief it started in the attic. dwight hill has owned that home for 30 years. the loud beeping of this carbon monoxide alarm saved a man in marion. authorities say his gas log was broken and the fumes could have killed him. >> do you think the alarm saved your life? >> yeah. >> no question about it? >> no question. >> tammy: at 6:00 what to look for with your own gas log that may indicate it's leaking toxic fumes. >> frank: good to have one of those as well as smoke detectors. >> jason: in my household, it's got to be on.

i' now your news 13 skywatch weather. >> jason: we look at the jet streams this time of year to see the storm patterns and how they're going to shape up. this is shifting east ward and this is actually going to be moving our way. it's a big ridge of warm air and high pressure. that slides east. we'll start to see the effects of that starting on friday. but more so saturday. clouds streaming up from the south and southwest. that's going to be a theme for

foothills all evening long in to the overnight. no rain in the asheville area. 10% thursday, friday. and zero for the rain chances saturday and sunday. we're cloudy now. looking outside our studios in biltmore park. it is really cloudy. wind chill down to 39 degrees. you're going to feel it even though it's a lighter wind. 52 degrees in the upstate at paris mountain. east-northeast wind at 8 miles an hour. low pressure eventually working up the coast. that gives us that east and northeasterly wind for the upstate. look at this moisture down here. this is going to be some rain. mostly i-85 south ward and then it moves east. then we'll move our attention north ward. it does produce some mountain snowow showers. don't expect anything really past the tennessee border. don't expect anything in asheville.

light accumulations especially north of i-40 in areas like yancey, mitchell, avery county. clouds hanging out tonight. we'll break them up before they start to back in to the mountains again tomorrow morning. thicker clouds over the upstate. showers certainly in the forecast for you south of 85 before we begeg to clear out early on friday. notice this up in the mountains. right around day break friday we'll have the clouds banked up against the spine of the blue ridge. and light snow falling in those highest elevations. the rainfall amounts, whatever falls over the upstate, pretty light. here we go. no chance for rain, thus no rain to measure in the next 24 hours in asheville. temperatures tonight dropping down in to the 20s. colder north. warmer south as you would expect. 30s in the upstate.
