49 degrees here in asheville by then. temperatures will go from around 60 at 7 in the upstate to the mid 50s by 11 as you slowly dry out. keep in mind, a lot of run off to go through. those creeks, rivers and streams will remain high. if you live in a flood prone area, just be aware that you might have to move. i'll talk more in detail about the big chill that lies beyond this. stick around. >> darcel: our team coverage continues now with heavy rain that put some parts of asheville under water this morning. >> tammy: karen, what's the situation there now? >> karen: tammy, right now you can see it's very, very muddy. look at all of the thick slick mud on the roads, on the sidewalk. meanwhile, some of the merchants here in biltmore village say the flooding situation has improved over the last several years. others say much more needs to be

from amboy road and carrier park, to biltmore village, it has been tricky. >> we are flooded. >> karen: even though the barricades were up and sweeten creek road was closed, it's not as bad as it was in years past. >> normally that water when we flood runs all the way right here. the fact that it's down there, we're making some head way. >> i moved all of the merchandise upstairs. we stood on the front porch watching the water continue to rise hoping that the rain would stop and it would eventually recede. >> karen: the water came down quickly and stayed out of her store. but it leaves behind a muddy

>> it's a public safety issue. there's liability in this. these sidewalks are slippery. they're dirty. >> karen: while city workers cleared out the storm drains with pitch forks, susan says more manpower is needed to keep the drains around biltmore park clear. >> the city and the state need to get together and fix the problem. >> karen: her store has only been here in biltmore village since june. since that time, she's had to miss ten dayay of work. >> tammy: flash flooding forces offices at one location to close as patients evacuate. >> darcel: kim, how are things looking there now? >> kim: much improved. there was definitely flooding.

subsided and right now things are back to normal except for some pockets across henderson county. this was the scene in the state across the county, people still dealing with flooding across the area. starting around 8:00 a.m. these photos were takin' at 9:30 in hendersonville. you can see the fedex box was getting swallowed up by water. one woman had come to get her allergy shot. >> so i got here and now it's closed, which is really inconvenient because i usually do wednesday's as my shot day. >> kim: this morning flood waters damaged flower baskets where staff are using vaks. as fast as it flooded, the water drained down in to creeks. coming up at 5:30, we will show you what happened at an office

it's the i-85 corridor, jonesville, woodroffe, laurens. about a quarter inch or less expected additionally. but that's still more than you'd like. look at this line that has really held together. it will affect areas east of columbia, raleigh, durham, charleston and savannah this evening. that is impressive stuff. now we deal with what is in the wake of this storm. it will be cold air and wind. 10:15 over 20 miles per hour over midnight in many cases. there's around day break as you get out of bed. 10 to 20 mile per hour winds. the ridgetops is where you're going to find most of that wind. you're going to feel the chill. 60 degrees right now. still cloudy here in asheville

south-southwest wind at 7. the front itself has yet to pass through the area. our wind shift will take place here. then you'll know the front has moved by. but it's slow to move. again, it will keep things very soaking wet here along the beaches of north and south carolina. clearing will take shape more so tonight and in the mountains. you're going to be last to clear out east, in the foothills and upstate. the idea is we're going to warm things up. high pressure sits over saturday. the wind will turn more southerly, again. that will help warm us in the second half of the weekend. there are the clouds at midnight. still hanging out over the mountains. you'll still have clearing going on in the morning in the upstate. some of these clouds will linger in the afternoon tomorrow.

asheville. let's talk about your temperatures tonight dropping down in to the 30s. quite the difference from the 40s and 50s. mid 30s to upper 30s north. we'll see around 40 to 41 in henderson. warmer weather down here over south carolina. the i-85 corridor, mid to upper 50s tomorrow. mid to upper 40s. quite the difference. look at the weekend. plenty of sunshine. 47 saturday. getting a little warmer sunday. we cool down and really chill down tuesday in to wednesday. highs in the 30s. look at that. snow. >> tammy: stop it. >> jason: monday and tuesday. we'll watch those two systems closely. in the upstate, you're going for 50s until next week. and then you get cold, too.

>> tammy: the cdc is expected to issue new guidelines in response to an alarming new case of zika virus. it's spread person to person by sexual transmission not by a mosquito in texas. >> reporter: a disturbing development out of dallas. >> it was not spread through a mosquito. it was spread through transmission. >> reporter: turns out back in 2008, a traveler infected with the zika virus in senegal returned home and his wife was infected with the virus. still, this is the first case of sexual transmission of the

the virus has possible links to birth defects in unborn babies and paralysis could be potentially deadly. >> she says she contracted the disease seven months ago and at one point could only move her eyes. >> the fact that she is seven months out and still has difficulty walking. >> reporter: officials say the old guidelines still stand. if you're pregnant, avoid traveling to zika affected countries. and for others, wear repellants and . wait 28 days after visiting zika affected countries before donating blood. >> darcel: we have an update on a proposal for some controversial changes in benefits to the health plan for

the plan's board of trustees has those changes. the board will be voting on the calendar year 2017 benefits friday. any other changes beyond 2017 will be delayed until a later date. that includes the potential phasing out of the 80-20 plan. the board will also not be voting to request or recommend legislation to remove spousal coverage. people have different play styles and different ways they communicate. >> tammy: call it doggy manners 101. next in never stop learning,
