across the country. at least 30 people were hurt when their charter bus rolled on its side on a snowy interstate in connecticut. six of the injured are in critical condition. the icy roads also hampered efforts to get them to hospitals. other tour buses were turned back because of the bad conditions. 3 that same winter storm is causing coastal flooding in new jersey and new york. strong winds and high tides have pushed water into the streets, making for a treacherous morning commute. the entire jersey shore is under a flood warning. meteorololists say there's a chance for beach erosion as wave heights build to eight to 12 feet. 3 blizzard conditions force the closure of an eight-mile stretch of interstate in iowa, after several accidents. at least one driver had to be pulled from a wrecked vehicle. part of the road has reopened, but the wintry weather continues moving east. 3 3 3 new this morning... the former board of elections director in macon county is back behind bars. this is the new mug shot of kim bishop. she is currently being held in the buncombe county jail without bond. the jail lists her as a federal inmate. on

guilty in federal court to one count of embezzlement. she resigned from her position in may 2014 after investigators discovered more than 50- thousand dollars in fraudulent checks came from her office. 3 3 his obituary says he was known to many as "the gentle giant." today, a man found shot and killed in his home in jackson county will be laid to rest. the funeral for timothy norris will be today at two p- m at the yellow mountain baptist church in cullowhee. burial will follow in norton cemetery. investigators found the 49-year-old man shot to death last week inside his home in cashiers. officers are treating his death as a homicide. no arrests have been 3 3 the buncombe county district attorney takes another step to determine whether to seek the death penalty in a triple murder case. the d-a has requested a hearing in the case of pierre griffin the second. the outcome of that hearing could determine griffin's punishment if convicted. last week a grand jury indicted griffin on charges of killing alexandra king, tatianna diz and uhon johnson in october. 3 3

carolina lawmakers. as we reported, federal judges ruled last week that race played a role in how some voting districts were mapped out. those judges ordered the lines to be redrawn by next friday. republican lawmakers requested an "emergency stay" of that ruling because absentee voting is already underway for the march 15th primary. perspective, if you see a headline that says 'districts ruled invalid' you're 3 left asking, should i vote or not? and that's the primary problem is it leaves voters in a very bad some. some have cast their ballots, going, do my ballots count? and others are left asking, 'should i vote?' the state board of elections says voters should continue to vote, and that the board will decide whether their votes will be certified. it is not clear how soon the court will decide on whether to delay the ruling. 3 3 construction on a new apartment complex is underway near the asheville outlets. the project broke ground

"the derek zoolander for kids who can't read good" school is coming to life. a pop-up replica of the school is opening up in new york city today for the public to check out. a cosmetics company teamed up with executives from "zoolander two" to make it happen. it will be open until saturday.
