marion, mcdowell, morganton, burke county and northern mountains where we could see some light snow. karen wynne is down in henderson county. what's it like as wewepeak? >> karen: jason, yes, very, very slick. in fact we are in downtown hendersonville right now on south maine. you can see this tree is coated in ice and so are many of the roads. so not too much going on. just a few cars. but for the most part downtown hendersonville pretty much empty. people don't want to navigate this if they don't have to. we have some video of them right now. we're talking everything from a car that was on its side with an injured person inside to an accident along i-26 that backed up traffic for miles. we seen saw a trash truck that

but friends ensure they're not all she's remembered by. >> i cried and called other friends and told them i will hold her in my heart always. >> hope: and on that note, we came out here to the office building where tina kesinger's body was found friday night to find this display of flowers marking the spot on a positive note. meanwhile we're learning more about james norton. he was released from prison exactly a year ago today. he has a long history with the law. charges dating all the way back to the time when he was 17 years old. he's expected back in court march 7th. we expect to be there. >> darcel: state investigators are looking in to allegations of sexual misconduct in a jail. it began with an investigation

this after allegations said former detention officer jonathan jones engaged in inappropriate behavior with a female inmate. residents hope investigators find the truth. >> it comes back on the person who said it, made the allegations falsely or if it's true, then i hope he gets what he deserves, too. >> darcel: the sbi hopes to complete the investigation by the end of the month and turn findings over to the district attorney's office. the da's office will determine if charges are warranted. a marion man is facing charges for filing a false police report about his ex-girlfriend's children. billy profit lied that the kids were being sexually abused because he was mad at his ex-girlfriend. detectives came to that conclusion after investigations by sheriff's office and dss, which included putting the children through interviews.

congressional districts after a panel proved redistricting was unfair. could rule to push the deadline back. but lawmakers need to be ready just in case that doesn't happen. today, legislators held a state wide public hearing via teleconference. about 60 residents showed up at unc asheville to make comments to lawmakers. opinions varied. some suggests that lawmakers should take themselves out of the process of predrawing districts. >> create a non-partisan redistricting commission along the lines of ones that are already functioning successfully. >> larry: statewide public hearing via teleconference. there were audio problems. the event lasted overrive hours. happening now, haywood county commissioners are pushing

interior of tractor trailers. it includes vehicles over 26,000 pounds is on a down ward trend right now. so the human resources department says temp positions have been cut as well as some permanent positions. no specifics yet but we did speak to an employee who was terminated recently about the cutbacks. >> we've lost probably over 20 temps in the last i'd say two months. now they're letting the permanent people go. people that's been there ten years. >> john: the canton plant expanded with a new warehouse area just a couple of years ago. at the time, a lot of optimism about the potential of more jobs. the plant says they've pretty much achieved most of the cutbacks. they're going to need to keep an eye on that market. john le, news 13.

like an icicel that has developed in the last few hours. it is getting slicker out there. 33 degrees is a blessing because now you're starting to get above freezing and the ice accumulations won't be as great or happen as quickly. now we turn our attention to the dar. we want to see how much moisture is coming and will likely fall. this wedge of cold air extends all the way up in to the foothills farther east along i-40, mcdowell, rutherford, even down in to the northern upstate. subfreezing temperatures there. all of this is rain because it's all above freezing. well in to the 40s in our southern mountains. you look at this and think oh boy, what happens when that moisture moves over here? it would be bad news. this is where the warmer areas. so we do want to see this moisture get nudged farther east because it will begin to nudge cold air out.

we don't want to see the freezing rain accumulate more. but we will have to get some of that moisture. rain west. by morning, it's rain for everyone. it will end early for most areas. tomorrow evening we start to turn our attention to the north and west. the mountains will see some rain-snow mixes. the tennessee border may get light accumulations. madison, yayaey. haywood and swain county. this zone right here in the red, henderson, rutherffd, mcdowell, burke county, much of those areas are looking to a tenth of an inch. more power outage concerns, . nothing wide spread. i don't expect widespread

in pink, a tenth of an inch accumulates. this is all rain. half inch to an inch of rain coming overnight tonight. that's a lot. 29 degrees. we've been below freezing in southern buncombe county. notice the winds northwesterly now. winds turning southerly by midnight. everybody stays warm enough for rain overnight tonight and in to the morning. sunshine tomorrow then that system comes through late day. wintery weather in the mountains. what a ride it's going to be. temperatures above freezing tonight anywhere north and west of asheville. highs tomorrow should be colder west. warmer east and south. so we completely reverse the trend. more like it should be around here milder in the upstate. temperatures will cool a little bit wednesday in asheville. sunshine. and the weekend is gorgeous.
