there lost power from the storm. >> karen: definitely so, larry. in fact at one point about 4,000 people across the county were without power here in mcdowell. this tree fell in old fort. it brought power lines down with itit people living nearby lost power around 2:30 a.m. and they were still without it at noon. >> i was up and i heard a crash. and the power went out. >> karen: crews from charlotte removed the tree in about 30 minutes. while many of the trees and power lines have been removed, they urge people to be careful. if you do see any power lines down, you are urged to stay away from them and call 911. now at the last check, it looks like now there's still about 400

new location. >> larry: it's one of three partners moved to make room for the new family justice system. but some feel these repeated moves are wasting tax dollars. >> darcel: frank, this isn't the first time these offices have moved. >> frank: darcel, this is the second time in just the last five years these three departments have been moved. some county taxpayers think it's a waste of money. it's moving day at the buncombe county tax office. one of three departments forced out of 35 woodfin street to make room for a new family justice center. >> it's the one safe place where a victim cancome, be able to access legal services, therapy, advocacy, file a criminal report and get medical services if needed. >> frank: nine different domestic and child service agencies will come together under one roof. many are non-profits that will get their space rent free in

but that means three county departments: the tax office, election services and the register of deeds have already or are in the process of moving. that's raising questions for some residents who contacted news 13 to ask, why did buncombe county waste tax dollars on moving these offices after only a few short years in the old health department. >> it's an entirely fair question. >> frank: the register of deeds was moved parking is apparently also a concern for the new home of the tax department at 94 cox avenue. on the website they warned people saying with their move they will not have much parking. and suggesting people wanting to come in to pay their taxes should call for assistance before making the drive downtown. >> it wasn't our choice to move in the first place but when the county commissioners decided

franklin, cullowhee, sylva, areas down like robbinsville. a little snow fall again in the black mountains. watch also some of this pink showing up. a little bit of freezing rain mixed in. some of the higher elevations may get a brief change over to rain. watch out there in east tennessee. spruce pine mostly rain on 19e. future radar, you can see darker blues indicate some of the heavier snow bands working through our northern mountains. this is the future cast, satellite and radar picture. they are the higher elevations. still snowing in to yancey, mitchell and avery, northern madison. by midnight we're starting to see the bulk of the moisture slide east ward. ground temperatures just warming up.
