that. i've never been through a tornado. but the way people describe it, the whole building shook. it was different. >> rex: belick lives here with her daughter. she says none of the other residents here were injured. and that's also the case in cherokee, where trees fell on mobile homes and in one case, four trees fell on to a house knocking out power there. back here in maggie valley, jane belick says she does have some insurance. assessors were here today filling out reports. as soon as the weather clears, some clean up here will begin. rex hodge, news 13. >> larry: there's more storm damage in other parts of the mountains. at one point nearly 12,000 people were without power. >> darcel: in haywood county, mike smathers saw a tree fall right in front of his house in canton, taking down a power line

today a judge ruled to release the call made by robin richardson, the december night she's accused of shooting tim fry. richardson is charged with first degree murder. warrants state richardson shot him because she claims he assaulted her. it may be next week before the transcript is released. >> larry: we have an update on a story we brought you monday. a judge has increased the bond for david penly who is charged with animal cruelty. penly was arrested monday for allegedly attacking a woman and her pet chickens. buncombe county prosecutors pushed for an increase bond today. penly stabbed a man back in 2010. gun advocates say asheville

news 13's frank fraboni investigates. frank, have they been complying with the state law? >> frank: they have not. and both the county and the city admit to dropping the ball. grassroots north carolina says signs like these prohibiting the possession of weapons in city and county parks are a violation of north carolina law. >> what we're asking asheville and other cities to do is exactly the same thing they're asking citizens, obey the law. >> frank: these photos taken in september and our own taken this month, prove local officials have been ignoring state law since 2013. >> conceal carry is now legal in state parks. yet we continue to have cities which post against firearms, including lawful conceal carry through the entire park system.
