24-mile-an-hour winds in greer. 14 in greenwood. the chance for downed trees and power issues with gusty winds. culloway, 43. franklin holding onto the 30's. 33 in lake toxaway. we are still under a winter weather advisory until tomorrow morning. >> snow hasn't impacted buncombe county. zach joins us live from madison county. crews have been working all morning to try to keep the roads clear and safe. >> they started in the overnight hours. it has been working. the interstate is clear. that's the majority of the primary roads as well. it did start in the overnight hours and it was due to downed trees because of increased winds.

trucks were laying down brine to help the dusting. the bigger issue was the temperatures, they dropped turning the it to ice. people are taking extreme precautions. >> right now, there is more over here. >> there have been flurries, slush, beautiful sunshine and then hit the mountain and the temperature went from 39 to 28. >> even at lunch the temperatures are chilly hovering in the freezing mark. many areas below the 30 degree mark. that has crews continuing to battle the elements. we have seen crews passing us. they have been plowing at times. they'll continue to do 12 hour shifts officials say until this

>> the clean-up continues in parts of north carolina after three confirmed tornadoes. they were all part of the system that killed at least four people in virginia. as reed reports, the severe weather outbreak has left a path of destruction across southeast and the south. >> our prayers go out to the three people who lost their life. >> the community mourning those killed when a possible tornado hit a mobile home. the youngest victim, 25-year-old boy. another man was found dead after a twister slammed and an additional tornado was reported in nearby essex county. >> that twister leaving several survivors trapped in wreckage, all told, the storm system unleashed more than a dozen tornadoes across virginia, florida and north carolinin with severe damage as far north as pennsylvania. the same weather system was responsible for the deaths of three people on tuesday. as tornado watches expired late wednesday, new warnings and

a low pressure system tracking from the gulf of mexico and bearing down on the east coast thursday, triggering storm warnings and advisories stretching 1400 piles from texas to delaware, with roughly 50 million people in the storm's path. >> crews repairing an early morning line break in hendersonville. that break happened in front of ocharlie's off chimney rock road. ocharlie's was the only business affected. crews say the problem is with a line that feeds into the restaurant. officials say they hope to be open by late this afternoon. >> crews respond to a fire at a va hospital this morning around 9:00. they say they did find evidence of a small fire involving a blanket warmer but it was quickly put out. no one was hurt. crews did have to sgiefrjts floor due to smoke. >> a fire that forced a family out of their home early this morning. that fire happened around 3:00 a.m. on cedar lane near sweeten

the family did get out safely. so far, there is no word what caused it. fire investigators say it looks like the house is a total loss. >> continuing coverage, closing arguments under way this noon in a murder trial in transylvania county. the prosecutor told the jury richard oshields was as cool as a cucumber in april of 2011 when he walked into a dollar general store and shot toby mathis five times. he said the case is about revenge and payback. math indexs is is charged with involuntary manslaughter after his son fell out of his truck and died. the defense contends the jury should consider oshields state of mind, saying stress and pts impacted him. the jury has the choice of first

wondering what that is. we are seeing a mix, the green, the pink, the blue, mostly it is snow on our side of the stateline. northern graham county, swain county as well, northern haywood county continuing to see light snow fall as well as madison county nororth of mars hill and areas around yancey and avery. a mix in the northern portion of mcdowell, down into asheville. we are seeing light flurries across the region. over the next hour, this is what you can expect, continuing to see this moisture watch as it enters p our western zone, it goes rain to snow. some of these areas still below freezing this afternoon. 26 degree at cold springs ranch, they picked up a nice dusting this morning. the skycam network, it is not a great shot. i still want to hoe it to you. we have the snow on the camera and in the distance, you can see a good layer of that snow.

27 degrees, balsam gap. not a lot of snow pu enough to make roads slick as temperatures are still below freezing and the grass definitely accumulating -- the snow rather aqume late on the grass. all that put us in the positive territory. picked up more than an inch of rain. two inches of surplus for the year. at the asheville airport, we didn't make it down to freezing this morning but it was enough to sustain some of that light snowfall. right now, it is 43 degrees in asheville. really, we have warmed up nicely. not going to be too much warmer than that. some locations still holding onto the freezing mark. 34 in burnsville, bryson, 38 in franklin. significant differences. north and west is cool. south and east, it is warmer. back up to the 50's. the wind, that is definitely an issue. we saw a lot of wind damage yesterday, power outages, trees down, power lines. still a chance, the ground is saturated.

out, 24-mile-an-hour winds in greer. 20 in forest city. 10 in asheville. 15 in andrews right now. it does make us feel colder. feels like # there. 37 back in the asheville area. once again, continuing to see a northwest flow, pulling the moisture around that low now to our north. there are some blizzard warnings further north. a snapshot at 2:00 this afternoon. continuing to see the light snow in the higher elevations. if you have to be traveling over to tennessee, keep this in mind, through gatlynnsburg. friday morning, we'll start to see the snow completely wrap up, starting with a few flurries. we'll see temperatures start to rebound into the weekend. 60's by the time we hit sunday. for the rest of the day, a light dusting expected in the northern mountains. that will continue through the overnight hours.

at noon, the dow down at 16546. the nasdaq was down two points to 2540. target seeing business increase at stores open at least a year. overall earnings missed expectations. the retailer has been regaining traction with customers by focusing on baby goods and apparel. target putting greater emphasis on health and wellness including a design partnership with soul cycle. this was the company's six consecutive quarter of seeing sales growth. >> the breakfast industry with sales tumbling 30% over the past 15 years. there are many reasons why. many eat breakfast away from home opting for sandwiches or yogurt while others choose mot to eat breakfast at all. 40% of millennials surveyed said cereal was inconvenient because they had to clean up after'ing it.
