30's through much of the afternoon for the higher elevations, we'll probably stay there. a lot of us making it to the low 40's with sunshine through this evening. the sun sets and it gets cold once again. our headlines indicating a windy friday and staying cool. i promise we'll stay warm. when that happens in my full forecast. back over to you. >> madison county was among the schools that closed due to snow and slick roads. how many days have students missed due to the winter weather we have been having? >> today marks day 13 at a students have missed. roads are looking much better now than they did this morning including the road to the local ski resort up the road. that's where we found many students spending their time off this morning. the slopes an additional three inches of snow during the past 24 hours and with all of the

>> fire break out in greenville, forcing the evacuation of 20 residents. fire tore through several apartments in a drug and rehabilitation complex. the cause is still undetermined. a man living in the apartment where the fire broke out told officials he had a fan runs at the time but he wasn't inside the apartment. >> one of our residents came to us and said he turned everything off and he came up here to watch the news and get things started for the day. somebody ran up here and said, your apartment on fire. he ran back down. >> no one was hurt. investigators with the greenville city fire department will continue to investigate the cause. >> happening today, a contractor from candler accused of scamming homeowners is due back in court. the victims said they paid for thousands of dollars of work for deck and roof repairs pu he

here in south carolina as bernie sanders travels here today, trying to rally last minute support ahead of tomorrow's democratic primary. >> sanders started in minnesota already looking ahead to supertuesday. >> south carolina's democratic primary is tomorrow. both presidential candidates will be in the palmetto state for a final push. senator sanders will hosting a black colleges and universities tour stop and rally at classland university. he will be joined by hip hop artist killer mike. afterwards he is heading to columbia for a get out the vote rally. >> hillary clinton will host a get out the vote rally at south carolina state university in orangeburg this afternoon. later tonight, she and husband bill clinton will be at boyd plaza for another get out the vote rally. >> pollses for the democratic primary open at 7:00 tomorrow morning. we'll have live updates

coverage starting at 6:00 p.m. tomorrow night. updates will be posted on our facebook and twitter pages and of course att wlos.com. >> in other news, a mass shooting at a kansas manufacturing plant leaves four people dead including the gunman and 14 others hurt. overnight the gunman was identified as 38-year-old cedric force, an employee at the plant outside wichita. witnesses said he started shooting coworkers with what appeared to be an ak-47. ford was eventually shoot and killed by police. neighbors are shocked to hear of his involvement in the rampage. guy. he was someone i could talk to ability anything. >> police don't have a motive but they say terrorism was not a factor. >> the investigation continues in berkeley county south carolina where a female deputy was shot this morning.

40's and 50's further south into the upstate. not too bad in greenwood at 50 degrees. here's the wind. it is not as bad as it was earlier this morning. anywhere from 15 to 30 miles an hour. right now, we are at 14, 15 in hendersonville, 20 up in boonboon. there is a windchill. going out to lunch, grab a coat and a scarf as well. 27 degrees, the feels like temperature here in the asheville area. overall, high pressure will continue to build in. you'll see the snow wrapping up in and around the great lake states. starting to see the snow leaving up towards tennessee. chilly conditions expected today and tomorrow and then we see that warmer trend. let's take a closer look hour by hour. this is 2:00 this afternoon still holding onto the 30's, holding onto a few clouds, continuing to see more sunshine
