after each nominating contest, a candidate gets assigned delegates based on the percentage of votes they received. to understand the impact delegates have, let's look at new hampshire. sanders won new hampshire in a landslide. he got 15 pledged delegates. clinton got 9. clinton had worked to get six of the eight. the other two are undecided. this means at the end of the day clinton and sanders are tied having a 15 delegates each. across the country, clinton has locked up delegates. so now you know how clinton can maintain such a large lead over sanders despite being neck in neck when it comes to voting. >> stay with news 13 we'll continue supertuesday throughout the day. you can find complete election coverage on our website.

>> north carolina adds sales tax to labor costs from clothing and shoe repairs to plumbing or having your car fixed, you can expect to pay more. the tax is expected to generate $85 million in state revenue. republican legislators say it is part of a move towards consumption taxes and away from personal income tax. as taxes will be cut next year and the budget will have a short fall from the difference. opponents say consumption tax will be difficult on lower income house holds. >> no damage for some people in yancey s is a small earthquake llt night. the quake hit around 9:45 in the burnsville area. people living at the base of the mountain reported hearing a loud boom and then they felt their houses shake slightly. multiple reports came into our news room for about 20 minutes. >> we have an update, neighbors will get the chance to weigh non

staying in the low 60's so relatively mildmild. temperatures stay mild through dinner time. that's when we see the chance for thunderstorms that could turn severe at times. in my seven-day forecast, i'll talk about how much rain will fall. and when wintry weather will make a comeback as well. >> in other news making headlines this noon a community will gather to remember a police officer killed on her first day on the job. funeral services will be held for ashley. police say army sergeant robert hamilton shot and killed the 28-year-old as she and two other officers were responding to a domestic dispute. hamilton's wife was found dead inside the home. police say he admitted to the shootings and is being held on murder charges.

>> right now the board of education required athletic trainers to attend all football games and practices at high schools across north carolina. this is a practice that henderson county schools have had in place for about 30 years. as of last year all high schools must follow suit. >> this morning on the steps of the historic courthouse, henderson county leaders made the declaration. local trainers with party health as well as students working towards their degree in the field were applauded for their work. school administrators say these trainers are critical members of the team because they already have a relationship with the student athletes and can act quickly. >> they know the kids personally. it is a personal relationship. those kids are -- they know them by name.

chance for the rain to enter the french broad river valley. not showing much in the way of heavy rain yet or thunderstorms. i want to remind you the severe threat is out for today. a slight risk, this is the greatest risk in our region right now for severe storms. we mean severe storms, the possibility of hail and gusty winds and downpours within these storms. marginal risk for the areas in green. that includes the foothills towards mitchell counties and east of greenville as well. we'll continue to monitor that throughout the afternoon. meanwhile in franklin, 57 degrees. a good amount of cloud cover but not too many dark clouds except for a couple of frames. that will change throughout the afternoon. same thing in culloway. have not picked up any rain at the asheville airport yet. we'll have our fair share the next day or two. temperatures this morning were chillier. look at that, 33 about normal

this is the area where we put how warm we have been. already exceeded that normal of 54 for this time of year. 63 in hendersonville. wow, look at forest city, it is 67 degrees. close to 70 degrees in some locations in the upstate including in gaffeny, out towards charlotte as well. rock hill and greenwood, already at that 70 degree mark. look west of asheville. still feeling the low to middle and upper 50's. the wind has picked up as expected. in asheville out of the south right now, 16 miles an hour. 18 into greenville. a wind advisory will start at 7:00 this evening and go until noon tomorrow for gusts up to 50 miles an hour. that's for yancey, mitchell and avery county. those high elevations could see the possibility for some downed trees. satellite and radar does show this powerful front will continue to march across the

tonight and that's when we'll see the showers and thunderstorms really develop. nap shot at 2:00, once again at 4:00, seeing scattered showers, not until about dinner time do we see the heavier rain bands into our western zones first. then move through the french broad river valley. and then things start to clear out in the way of rain but then we see a slight chance for wintry mix in the northern zones, highest elevations into tomorrow morning. as temperatures drop back below freezing. this model is showing how much rain we are expecting to see through 6:00, maybe a quarter of an inch in our western zones. more widespread, heavier rain possible as we look forward in time towards tomorrow morning. 62, that's our high expected today, going to be nice. increasing clouds. we'll see that rain late day. hopefully brought that umbrella with you. you probably haven't seen the rain yetut it is coming into tonight as well. temperatures down to 36 degrees.
