energy's plant to put in two natural gas units. some conservationists are disappointed in the decision. they say it's a huge step in the right direction but it's still not enough. joan walker of mountain true says duke should take the lead on others and choose solar and wind power. the commission voted down duke's request to build a third natural gas unit. well it was a nice morning but it turned in to a rainy afternoon. let's get the latest from jason in the weather center. >> jason: there are rain showers still coming in the mountains just west of asheville. this is moderate rainfall, again. this is not severe.

>> larry: an update tonight on a construction zone on i-26. it's near pond road. drivers may soon have an easier time navigating that part of the state. a contractor working to paint the striping on both east and west bound sides. >> darcel: as we reported, deveer construction defaulted on the project. now a bonding company is moving forward with the work and a new contractor. >> larry: some north carolinians who get their health insurance through the affordable care act are worried. >> darcel: recently the state's largest insurer blue cross blue shield threatened to pull out of the aca, and they're not the only ones. frank fraboni tells us what that could mean for the rates you pay. >> well if you don't have health insurance, you run the risk of

>> jason: rain has been falling off and on in the mountains. really the idea is moderate rain at best in most cases. leicester carpet sales news13 sky cam network we'll start you out in black mountain east of buncombe county. you can see the road dry and then wet. starting to dry a little more now. 55 degrees. at least it's rain and mild temperatures. we still have another round to go. showers moving over asheville at this time. mostly west of downtown towards canton, enka, clyde, wittier. robbinsville, you're getting it, too. this is steady rainfall. and it's coming out of east tennessee. severe threat, very minimal. i still will show you this but i'm really not keen on what's happening in terms of severe weather. that includes damaging wind, tornados. a slight risk out there for areas west.

mostly cloudy. south-southeast winds at 3. 80% humidity. 30% chance of anything happening tomorrow in asheville. if it does, it will be just some flakes. flurries at best early in the day. we get back to wintery weather thursday and friday. not all day events. but wintery weather late day thursday. wintery weather early friday. it could mean rain-snow mix. 20% chance of anything happening saturday. but the mountains, you will see some accumulating snowfall likely late thursday in to friday as well. about 3500 feet. that is where it is going to stick in most cases. all that rain coming through now is long gone after midnight. then we turn our attention to the cold. wind vectors northwesterly and long. gusty winds 20-30 miles per hour. even though the sunshine is back, it will feel a world of difference in terms of chill tomorrow.

those clouds thicken and lower. here come the snow and rain showers blasting through thursday in to early friday. that's where i think there will be some accumulation farther north and west. wednesday, well we do have showers again early tomorrow adding up to about a quarter to half an inch. in asheville, i see less than a tenth of an inch. there you go, rain changes to snow through friday, early morning. temperatures in the 30s tonight. so a lot to go through here. the chill first. the wind as well. 40s for lows over the upstate. highs tomorrow should only get in the 40s for ashevivie south. 30s in boone. it is mighty cold up there, too. won't even feel that warm because you know that wind. 45 on thursday. 47 friday. notice anything that does fall as snow, it's just not really

us on this super tuesday. and let's get right to it. the single biggest day of voting in the presidential primaries. at this hour, voting still under way. long lines. the stakes enormous. a record turnout is expected tonight. straight to the pictures coming in at this hour from arlington, virginia, lining up at a fire station there. steady turnout at a church in atlanta, the south playing a major role tonight. and in ft. worth, texas, that state possibly pivotal on the republican side. the line snaking out the door. in all, voters weighing in in 12 states. here is what we're just learning in from republican voters in that key state of texas. preliminary exit polls coming in now showing 45% say they are looking for a political outsider. that's fewer than other states we've seen so far. more than two-thirds of texas republicans favor building that wall along the border. our political team covering it all tonight. the winners, as soon as we get them. and we begin with abc's tom llamas on donald trump's final
