here in richland county public hearings are being held for residents affected by the flood. >> the first meeting was held at st. andrews park. chuck ringwalt was there. >> i want to know about the creek because it's in my backyard. >> reporter: marie phillips came to the meeting. her home was damaged during the october flood and each time it rains the creek inches closer to her door. >> it turns from something i used to sit out on a back deck, drink a cup of could have ooon coffee on a sunday morning to something that worries me every single moment of every day. >> reporter: it's big problem for these residents. >> this is a creek that we maintain. the public has been out there several times and we're trying to make sure we address that as much as possible. >> reporter: the county hired

senators from both parties are trying to reach a compromise. d.o.t. reform and an income tax cut. but the group americans for prosperity are against the gas tax saying they want to focus on reforming the transportation system in the state. they're calling on lawmakers to transportation under the governor. >> they support a plan that includes more gas tax hikes. sending more money to the same dysfunctional corrupt transportation system that has let our roads crumble to where they are right now. >> its a not because legislators don't care or they're ignoring the problem because it's hard. there are philosophical divides on this. >> tomorrow morning at 7 americans for prosperity will be at the exxon in lexington.

pay 45 cents of every gallon of your gas as they talk to you about opinions on improving our roads. car dealers from hay cross the state attended a senate judiciary committee today because members were debating a bill that centers around the legality of car dealers charging a closing deal. there if approved, this measure would prevent them from receiving refunds. part of the measure debated would require car dealers who charge those closing fees to pay a one time registration fee each physical year to the department of consumer affairs. the bill was passed out of committee and headed to the full senate. in a general subcommittee meeting senators listened to testimony on the syrian refugees in south carolina. they're looking to limit the number of refugees in our state and the state resources that are used to help those

news 19's loren thomas explains. the purpose of the resettlement program is to help refugees admitted to this country gain economic self sufficiency. >> karen wingo with the dment of social services along with representatives of the carolinas spoke out about their rolls in the resettlement program. >> so we see what we've gone through and the trauma they've experienced and then have them come here and have backare backlash, it's discouraging . >> reporter: requiring information like their new address and job status. these bills stem to not place refugees in south carolina following recent terror attacks in france and germany. this is a security concern say some senators.

job seekers in lexington you want to listen up tonight. tomorrow the dss is sponsoring a job fair from 9 in the morning until 2 in the afternoon. four local businesses will be looking to hire new employees. the job fair will be held in the community room in the hexington county dss office located on south lake drive in lexington. . tomorrow is the deadline to register to vote for the first presidential primary. it is set for february 20th. meanwhile, to register for the vote on the primary dead line is a week from tomorrow on january 27th. the democratic primary is february 27th. if you have moved, make sure you are ready to vote by updating your recommendingstration information or if you have moved from one county to another, you must register in your new county by the deadline to be eligible. tomorrow night the governor is going to give her sixth state of the state address. it is taking place at 7:00.

states, minnesota in the single digits, 17 degrees in omaha. this is what we have going on. we're watching two systems, this system hear producing a little bit of mixed precipitation mainly in arkansas. that will be the system that had swing through the area tomorrow. and this system up here near idaho, that will produce rain by friday. we'll zoom in a little bit closer and can you see the clouds building into the upstate and as that system, that first system approaches, you may see snow in the upstate of south carolina. i think our forecast model does a good job of showing exactly what we expect. the clouds increase tomorrow. a little bit of snow in the upstate. not a big deal for us here in the midlands, maybe a sprinkle, maybe a light shower, but not expecting much in the ray of rainfall. clouds build into thursday. an opportunity for some showers. but right now our best chance for rain comes in on friday. the rain moves in on friday and you can look towards our north,
