senator that is for income disclosures to please stand. >> it's unclear how many senators actually stood up. by some accounts, it was ten. strong reaction from both sides of the aisle. joyce coe has the latest. >> i think it was childist and antagonistic. i refuse to perform. >> i wanted to stand up and cheer. >> putting her speech around the challenging events in the palmetto state, those remarks got the reaction. >> if you support true investigation, please stand. >> for lawmakers on both sides. and there was disagreement on if it was appropriate.

temperature from newberry at 33 to winnsboro at 35. and it's going to be just cold enough, we have a freezing rain vadz from fire field to kershaw to lee counties. the forecast is going to showwise us as we go -- show us as we go into the morning hours, rain to freezing rain and that will be in the upstate until about noon. in the afternoon, continuing with the rain, but any freezing precipitation will be in the upstate. still going to have some rain in midlands. something else on friday and saturday, a possibility of the precipitation coming back around. could be in the form of sleet or even snow. it's a small possibility. we're watching it. the ground temperatures are so warm that anything that does flurry down is not going to stick.

guys? >> thanks for xaupg keeping an eye on that. governor nikki haley has a lot in 2015. despite the tragedied, bounce bouncing back and finding a way to survive. >> recruiting teachers for rule schools. >> in bamburg, we didn't know what we didn't have. for me, that's not the case. i know exactly what we don't have. and in the state, i know what today's kids don't have. our focus for the last three years have been the rights. we have stood together. and we're not done. first, we need to let the voters of south carolina to decide if they want to appoint the superintendent of education.

for every governor. and to be successful, every governor must have a partner in the education department. >> haley said that's the first year they have aggressively recruited teachers and incentiveizing them to stay. >> we had a guest last night. >> breaking down the speech and the talking points, including education. >> what she did not say, what she did not refer to is the supreme court mandate to the general assembly is to fix the funding aspects of the state. the minimally adequate funding for the school and has been working towards that and not at the pace that the supreme court might have originally sought, but at their own pace.

how she talked about the need to support k-12 education and her desire not to put more funds into higher education, specifically the university of south carolina and clemson. that's her prerogative. higher education does get funds from the state government, but she's saying if we're going to have a priority, in her mind, it should be k-12. >> in a surprising moment off script, asking senators to stand up if they supported the ethics bill that sat in their chambers in the session. it's unclear about who stood up, in some account, it was less than ten. and for income disclosure. you can see the reactions. and independent investigations into the house ethics bill,

meteorologist efren afante. >> it's 6:43. cooling off. 20s and 30s and 40s. lexington at 36. winnsboro at 32. columbia at 32. and what we're expecting in the next 36 hours. a few sprinls and the rain is moving out by the afternoon and evening. the rain will continue pretty much into the overnight hours. highs are expected today .generally in the mid to upper 40s. could be 49 in orangeburg to as cool as 42 in newberry. overnight tonight, it will be cold once again. temperatures generally in the in your opinion 30s. the -- in your mid to upper 30s. and because of that. and because of the precipitation we're expecting a freeze rain advisory is in

tomorrow from fairfield, kershaw and lee and newberry koinlts. by three in the morning, a lot of approximate precipitation could be in the form of freezing rain to just rain in the northern parts of the midlands into the upstate. as we get through noon, going to transition to just rain and into the afternoon, we're going to see a lot of rain. all of the palmetto state will. some of the moisture may wrab book into the state and central midlands. and could see a snow flake or 2:00 in the afternoon when it clears. and the potential, i use that word strongly and the potential for snow, but rain all over the palmetto state. a little wintry mix. saturday, sunny and 53. and up to 62 on tus and maybe a storm or thunderstorm or two.

still concern over the pinewood hazardous landfill plan. lasting 50 to 150 years, built in 1978. saying it's 38. and need to be proactive in case of any leak. any water that drips through has to be carefully and properly disposed of. one said this should be a priority for lawmakers. >> the decision that was made in 1978, there was little we can do it now, but need to make sure it's better for future generations. >> making sure a leak doesn't happen, but a matter of lawmakers appropriating the funds to get it done. looking at the events in the area, including police accountability.
