she shares the passion to keep it from being demolished. >> we lost walmart, all these businesses. we feel the town could come back using a focus point. >> reporter: in the 1700s he had his soldiers camp out at the school site. >> if you look that old drawings of the town the school is the most important part of the town. >> the building has been vacant for 20 years with failed attempts to renovate it. >> i appreciate all the hard work they have done. >> reporter: the mayor says the town counsel gave them a deadline to have a plan in place. the deadline pasted and no plan is set so he says it is time to demolish the building. >> an eyesore to the neighbors. an unsafe building. and the town's concern is that with this building being unsafe and not structurally sound.

trying to get private developers to renovate the school to be a space for the community. they won't give up on the school and that they want the town counsel to give them more time. >> there are so many potentials for the building. it is not in irrepairable shape. >> if it is gone it will be gone. >> reporter: janae frazier, news 19 wltx. >> the group estimates the renovation cost will be more than 4 million dollars. the mayor says the demmission of the building it -- demolition of the building will cost 100,000. a developer is interested in the property. they will discuss steps at the next meeting on february 14. floods damaged our fragile roads here leaving lots of pot hole. one of the areas is decker boulevard, park lane road and two notch road. one driver says there is no way

we will look at that in a moment. >> thank you. there was a sexual assault on usc's campus over the weekend. students are concerned because usc did not send out an alert to let them know. robert kittle has all the details tonight. >> reporter: usc precman is scared -- freshman is scared and her parents are upset. >> terrifying that that was going on. >> reporter: early saturday morning a usc student was sexually assaulted near her dorm. have victim was walking here. around 3:45 a.m. saturday morning a man said he had a weapon and took her someplace and sexually assaulted her. usc sent out an e-mail in the afternoon but did not send out an emergency alert after it happened. >> i feel like an alert that even if they don't know what is going on would have been nice. like a warning.

but i know a lot of my friends were and that scares me that it could have been any of them. >> reporter: usc didn't send out an emergency notification because at the time of the report the wasn't enough information. the bulletin says the race is unknown, 5'5", 150 and between 20 and 30-years-old. >> any information is better than none. even like if there was a crime here and it was a high risk crimic i mean -- crime, i mean that would be beneficial. >> reporter: usc says text alerts are reserved for situations that pose an immediate risk to life and safety and require people to change their behavior like seeking shelter from storm. news 19 wltx. >> after the assault the victim told her roommate to call 911.

hospital for treatment. deputies into investigate the friday night shooting death of a 19-year-old, her body was found with multiple gun shot wounds. she was an employee of the walmart on two notch. her co-workers are setting up a memorial at the store. >> everybody came in speaking about what happened and it is just sad and now, you know, two families are going to be devastated over this tragedy. so we are all going to miss her. she was a good spirited person. always smiles. very energetic. a sweet, sweet soul. >> her ex-boyfriend is now behind bars after being charged with murder and armed robbery. a man has been arrested on charges of dragging a dog behind a car. billy husky.

investigation involving a puppy that was dragged by a car and left to die in the wooded area. the puppy was taken to the vet after being found. sheriff's department worked with animal control and then animal group to find witnesses. we are told the witnesses identified husky as the man responsible. the puppy is still recovering tonight. the noise and lighting studies for the spirit communications park are complete. the study was put together because residents are worried about the noise, lighting and parking problems that could come as a result of the new baseball stadium. tonight folks who live in the area are able to review the results and hear from the consultant. before the meeting we talked with the president. >> you know, i think people are concerned about what the impacts will be and i think over time as we understand what
