center and no one can pick them up a county van drops them off at a bus stop but community members complained that it is bad for business and residents. they want to look into contracting taxis to transport the individuals to whenever they want to -- to wrench they want to go -- to wherever they want to go instead of at the bus stop. >> businesses, communities, impacted by this panths, you know, we need to -- practice, you know, we need to act. we want to enjoy it, have a meal, sit down and have the best environment. >> reporter: six former inmates a day are dropped off. they hope to have a plan by the end of the month. the system will continue to be paid for with taxpayer money. we will keep you updated that see story develops. for now, back to you.

a judge consolidated two lawsuits after a clemson university student was found dead. convenience for the court. tucker hipps' body was found in lake heartwell. one of the lawsuits was a wrongful death case. the other sought damages for the family's loss. each sought $25 million from three members of sigma phi epsilon. the national and local chapters of the fraternity and clemson university. police need your help finding a man whais a -- who is a person of interestane sexual assault on -- interest in a sexual assault on campus. look at your screen. it happened on saturday between 3:13 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. in the morning. if you have information on who this is you are asked to call crime stoppers at 1-888-crime-

linse up for all of you -- listen up for all of you moped drivers. moped bill passed last week. it would make traffic laws apply to mopeds. currently trivers can't be given speed -- drivers can't be given speeding tickets or be arrested for drunk driving. they would require drivers to have insurance. and have tags and require safety equipment like lights and vests. some lawmakers have been against passing the legislation saying it would restrict some but he says he talked to some of the lawmakers who say they would support a -- would support a bill. >> i think it is a big enough concern for the public that we -- we need action on it. i think it is -- the devil is in the details.

right now we are partly cloudy in columbia. 69 degrees. our wind shifted to a northeast wind at 10 miles per hour. which means that the front has slid through the columbia area but it hasn't impacted us much. we had been in the 70s. tonight we are expecting an increase in clouds, showers later on tonight with a low of 60. most of the rain will be coming tomorrow in the form of showers and thunderstorms and a high of 72 and the rain will come to an end tomorrow night with a low temperature of 53. now let's take a look at the afternoon. and i will give you an over view here. most of the area around columbia is in good shape with the exception of the malfunction junction area. it is slowing down going through the region. keep that in mind. it will take you a little bit of time. we have one accident near the intersection of 277 and i-20.

traffic too much at this time. on the southeast side of town. a little slow down on the sumpter highway. not too bad today. downtown to blythewood 17 minutes from downtown to clemson road, 14 minutes. we will look at the seven-day forecast coming up. >> thank you. health officials in texas say a patient there has acquired the zika virus through sex. they said today they received confirmation from the centers for disease control and prevention the patient was infected after having sexual contact with an ill person who returned from a country where zika virus was present. the zika virus spreads through mosquito bites. investigators have been exploring the possibility it could be spread through sex. after a researcher who caught the virus over sea and spread it to his wife in the states in 2008.

including south carolina senator tim scott. he says in a statement he is joining in endorsing marco rubio. he said he is the one shot republicans have to win the presidency. ted cruz didn't waste time getting to south carolina after the iowa caucus. he is talking talking to supporters. he will be at the convention center in greenville at 7:00 p.m. it is free and open to the public. meanwhile on friday donald trump will be in florence. he is hosting a campaign rally at the florence civic center from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. . bill cosby is back in the courtroom today. his attorneys are trying to get the sexual assault charges against him thrown out. lawyers say the district attorney promised not to

nothing that we need to worry about tonight but we have this area of rain that is moving through georgia. approaching the augusta area now, we might see showers coming through the midlands during the evening hours. but it has been warm. we saw a ont that came right down a the columbia area. but in orangeburg they are south of it front now, at 75 degrees. 76 degrees in augusta. to the north, cooler, it is 58 degrees in rock hill and 50 degrees in greenville. that is where much of that cold moment. here is a look at our computer model. tonight an increase in clouds. not much in the way of rain. a chance that will see rain. most of the rain will come tomorrow and it will be in the form of showers. and a line of thunderstorms in the afternoon. this is something we will be watching. there could be gusty winds with the thunderstorms. they won't last long.

will see the rain tapering off tomorrow night and thursday, a few showers along the coast. the clouds may persist in our area through the day on thursday. so here is our forecast. we will start first of all with tomorrow we will see thunderstorms. high of 72 degrees. but then turning cooler on thursday with a high of 59. 53 on friday. down to 29 degrees saturday. high of 55. it looks like we will see chance for showers on 16. mostly cloudy. a -- on sunday. mostly cloudy. a weather system will spin clouds back into the area but then we clear out next weekend. it turns cold next week as well. tuesday we are expecting a high temperature of just 51 degrees. now let's go to you. february is heart health month. they want you to say -- just say no.

wltx is making sure you know the signs and symptoms. we are doing that today with dr. robert who is a cardiologist at lexington medical and you are a heart survivor. >> yes. >> we will talk about your story in a few minutes. but more about the signs and symptoms of heart disease. >> that's right. heart disease can manifest in so many different ways. the classic ones for men and women is chest tightness or pressure in the middle of your chest. that could be with or without activity. that is a big warning sign that you might be experiencing. a heart event. shortness of breath, dizziness, fatigue that is unusual. and more pain in your jaw or shoulder can also be a marker for heart disease. >> how prevalent is heart

>> it is a huge burden in our state, america, and effects so many citizens in our state. related to the amount of folks that we have with diabetes and high blood pressure. one in three will be effected. it is a huge birderren. -- burden. it is a number that has to change. >> talk to us about what happened to you last summer? >> i had fatigue. that word that he mentioned, i had pain in my back. i was tired. i felt 75-years-old. >> wow! >> yeah. because i -- i was. i am not anymore. but i was 75 and i felt 75. >> you own a catering company. a successful company so i am sure you put it on i am over worked, i am tired. what was the thing that made you say this is more than just exhaustion? i need to see somebody. >> i walked from one building

of breath and a red flag went up in my mind and i went in my car and headed home. called my wife and i said i am on the way home and she said what? because i don't get off early. that was the beginning and i immediately hung up and called a friend of mine. a surgeon. i said there is something wrong with me. and he led me to doctor, thatat is when we met. >> you are his cardiologist. we will put you on the spot. tell us what he did wrong. >> yeah. men do that. the misses, the spouse brings the individual in often and because they see their spouse deteriorating in their health and can notice the change in their quality of life and usually people love to blow it off on something else, can't be my heart, must be over worked,

be your heart. if you have risk factors that could be in your mind. high blood, diabetes, do you smoke, you need to think maybe i am at risk -- maybe i am at risk. >> women now, busy moms and wives wives, how does it present in women? >> you get a 10 year break. in women it presents older, because they get protection from the ovaries. they ignored the signs and health and risk factors and blame it on other health issues besides thinking about their heart. when they show up they are sicker, and their outcomes are poorer because they delayed

[ indiscernible ] had the flood unforbed a road they believe is -- the uncovered a road they believe is from the 1800s oror1900s. a team is mapping their find so they could learn more about south carolina's history. >> if we can figure out the engineering and the types of information that we can pull out of nail patterns and timber sizes and things we can figure out what it was and then we can

53 on friday. saturday a low of 29. with a high of 55. and we may see more showers sunday. high temperatures of 56. let's take a look at our traffic around the area this afternoon. and we will start first of all with an over view on the southern side of town things aren't too bad. a few slow downs. first of all northeast side of town, clemson road. slow there and a slow down, i- 77, north bound lane, it is slow and slow when you get off. northwest side of town, this is malfunction junction right here. it continues to be slow, particularly on 126 and i-26. we have a slow down on the lexington highway from before you get to i-26 to lexington. as a result it will take you some time.

downtown will take you 14 minute downtown to lexington will take you at least 25 minutes. >> thank you. group of residents in winnsboro are mad over the possible development of a quarry in their neighborhood. south carolina department of health -- department of health and environmental control year. the facility would be a plant in the throughway area. despite the approval residents are kerned the water and air will be polluted and they appealed the decision. going into early labor, they were worried about lung development. through the research provided by the march of dimes that is not that big of an issue now. and so we are not sure that -- that -- if our child would have survived if it weren't for the research that march of dimes were putting forward so we owe it back to them to shine a spotlight on the organization. >> across the nation 700 communities are participating in the march for babies campaign. mother heard her son's heartbeat for the first time in three years. her only son died at just 7 months old. she didn't hesitate to make the decision to donate -- to donate his organs. meanwhile he had a faulty heart valve and had a stroke. but she received a heart. a new heart.

after the heart transplant and she got to hear her son's heartbeat again. they consider each other family now. >> through all the grief, it is, like -- seems everything came together perfectly for both of us. >> lucas saved two other lives with his donated liver and kidney. his mom says he couldn't -- she at this point couldn't be anymore proud of her baby boy. >> that is such an amazing story. to hear the heartbeat again. >> i tell you every time i see these stories of -- mothers making the decision, you know, you -- i can't -- >> don't -- [ talking at the same time ] coming up next, thankful for our great educators in the
