lights from the n-f-l honors... along with her other sports highlights. news 19 starts now. 3 3 good evening and thanks for choosing news 19.im mary sturgill 3 valerie rhodes was on her way to work when a drunk driver crashed into her car.she died and leaves behind two sons... as well as two brothers... who looked to her as an example... of what you can achieve.news 19's chuck ringwalt spoke with them earlier today.they say she will continue to be an inspiration... long after she is laid to rest. 3 "i was talking to my wife while i was on my way to work i said, 'baby it's a bad accident. i pray for that person in that white car.' and she said, 'why?' i said, 'baby cause from the wreckage, i don't think they made it.' and i went on to work and i continued my day not knowing that that was my sister."

valerie rhodes...val as her two brothers call her had just left her gaston home.she said goodbye to her two sons...devin and alex...and was on her way to work...only a few miles away...when a drunk driver hit her head on. investigate the case.bond has been denied -- something orangeburg county sheriff... leroy ravenell... says... he's thankful for.if convicted.... brown faces up to 30 years in prison for the attempted murder charge... and another 5... for possession of a weapon during a violent crime. 3 3 seven people have been tested for the zika virus in south carolina according to the center for disease control ... two of those tests have come back negative, all seven people traveled to one of the countries with widespread zika.... those are in central and south america and the caribbean. the other five cases are still pending.zika virus is spread by mosquitoes. symptoms include fever... rash... joint pain... and conjunctivitis.... which can last up to seven days.about one in five people who are infected will get sick.the main concern... is with infected pregnant women... who's children may have birth defects.there is no vaccine or treatment specific to zika
