recent poll asked people about how often they go to a religious service in question them about how religion is important to them. they found 51% of those they talk to, in our state,e,were considered very religious. 31% were considered moderately present -- religious while 18% were identified as nonreligious. south carolina state university students and staff joined together for a prayer circle on the orangeburg campus today. in light of the school's recent financial struggles a group prayed for a brighter future for the students and community leaders say they want people to have a positive perception of the school. >> you know, when it comes down to it this community sticks togegeer regardless. even the students are a south carolina state they show that today. >> today's prayer was sponsored by the south carolina state university religious life counsel and student life and leadership. some of you out there saw a

afternoon. we had reports of flurries from columbia and other areas. there may even be a few more evening is over. about. south carolina's weatherman jim gandy is watching things for us now, and just a few hit and miss flurries here and there, that is about it. the radars continuing to show throughout the afternoon and precipitation. much of the precipitation showing up is not even making it to the ground. all you will see as a few flurries, brief snow shower trying to make its way into newberry county and aiken county. much of the activities already diminished. that would be the will be the trend the rest of the evening. today it was chilly out there, the clouds kept temperatures down for the low this morning 35 at the airport, 30 for in the city, 42 degrees in the city, and 40 for degrees at the airport. our temperature 37 degrees, winds out of the west at 70 miles per hour.

27 degrees outside. tonight, we expect the actual temperature to get down to 27 degrees, but the wind will make you feel colder than that. a decrease in clouds tomorrow, mostly sunny 40 for degrees, tomorrow night we are expecting a low temperature of 23. the cold weather will last into the weekend. we will look at that forecast coming up. the state transportation department had leaders today getting some tough questions during a meeting with senators. they are trying to decide on weather or not to raise the gas tax to fund the repairs to roads and how to reform the agency. transportation leaders say they need more money if they want to fix the broken roads. the agency said the current greatest area of needs are paving interstates, dealing with bridges and congestion points. senator tom davis, and nikki sattler also shared concerns after hearing from the agency. >> what really struck me was the frock admission by the chairman of the commissioners, saying that sure, he takes

we are seeing clouds a good part of the day, it has been windy and a little bit of precipitation coming in from the west, scatters no-shows they are diminishing. any chance you will see any flurries is probably going to be in the next hour, or two. we are beginning to see breaks in the clouds on the western side of the appellations you can see where it is clearing and that will be spreading across our area later on tonight. decreasing clouds, the main storm system up over the great lakes region, a lot of cold air is spilling self, it is dry over much of the rest of the country.

weather right on through the weekend. this is what we saw as far as the high temperatures concern today. we had winds gusting up to 30 miles per hour with the clouds are kept temperatures down. only got up to 40 degrees in greenwood, 43 sumter, 40 for columbia and orangeburg, 48 down in charleston, temperatures have been dropping. it's now 30 for degrees in greenwood and raquel. 37 columbia, 38 augustine and sumter, 39 degrees and orangeburg. keep in mind, still a bit windy outside. these are the sustained winds right now, and generally they are around 15 miles per hour, little bit stronger over in a gusto where it is sustained at 20, this is what it feels like. it feels like it is 25 in greenwood and rock hill, 27 columbia, 28 sumter, 31 and orangeburg.

we will be dropping down to 24 newberry, 25 over and salute h er, 27 for columbia and sumter, 28 manning and orangeburg. tomorrow, we will see some sunshine but it is going to be windy and still going to be cold. we are projecting about 41 degrees in newberry, 43 camden, 40 for columbia and st. matthew's. maybe 46 over and manning. our seven day forecast. on thursday, we will see a low temperature of 33 with a high of 50, partly cloudy on friday with a high of 50 degrees but then another cold front comes through friday night, on saturday the cold air starts to come in it is going to be windy a high of 49 degrees we will feel the full effects of the cold air mass on sunday with a low of 21 and a high of 40 degrees. and then monday, we will start to see clouds coming in with a chance of showers monday afternoon into the evening with a high of 48. by the time you get to tuesday our weather pattern starts to change it will be mostly sunny with a high of 57. still ahead, our state is filled with veterans on today
