sue one of his opponents. we have the latest from greenville. >> reporter: donald trump and the other candidates will debate saturday in south carolina, but friday trump was already throwing jabs, tweeting if ted cruz doesn't clean up his act, he is standing to sue cruz for not being a natural born citizen. trump says he's not eligible to run for president. >> i'm going to kick your house and park my limos there. >> reporter: trump is angry about tv ads like this one running before the primaries. >> there's more than a little irony in donald accusing anyone of being nasty given the insults and vulgarities that come out of his mouth. >> reporter: trump holds a commanding lead in the polls in south carolina.

on the democratic side, hillary clinton continued the attacks she started against sanders during thursday's debate. she says sanders made false claims about president obama's legacy. >> he has called the president weak, a disappointment. >> reporter: sanders calls clinton's comments a low blow. she and sanders face off at the polls in south carolina in two weeks. >> one of the republican candidates not at today's face forum in the up state, john kasich. he doesn't have much support in our state. when i talked with him today, he hopes to pick up delegates and get his message out to south carolina voters. >> conservative principles will help fix our country. we have to make sure we remember those in public life that were americans before we were democrats and republicans.

>> all six remaining republican candidates will participate in that debate tomorrow night. it starts at 9:00 at the peace center in greenville. you can watch it right here on news 19. before that, we're airing a one- hour special that takes a look at the candidates and the primaries. looking at the democrats now, bernie sanders did not campaign in our state today but he will be speaking on face the nation this sunday. you can see it at 10:30 in the morning right here on wltx. donald trump and marco rubio will also be on the program. denmark today. mrs. clinton says more needs to be done to make rural schools and hospitals more comparable

>> reporter: and he blames unemployment. >> it goes back to the job. people live here but they have to work 15 minutes away, 30 minutes away. >> reporter: just walking downtown denmark, we saw five different shops like this one that were closed down. it's a clear indication of the unemployment here. he wants the candidates to address this issue and pay more attention to rural areas like denmark. >> i'm going to try my hardest to get out of here because i had for myself. >> reporter: she's a mother of two small children. >> living in denmark is horrible. the water turns yellow. drink. we have to buy bottled water for our children. >> reporter: she wants the candidates to focus on this. >> killings, the water, and to basically.

haven't been through the things we've been through. >> reporter: most of the voters are undecided. they want the candidates to focus more on issues facing rural areas. in denmark for news 19, wltx. and while skies have been clear this evening, it's been chilly. our temperature at 38 degrees. the winds are from the north, northeast at 3 miles an hour. overnight it will stay clear. we're expecting a low of 31 degrees. plenty of sunshine tomorrow but it's going to be breezy and it's going to be a little cooler than what we saw today with a high of 46. it will be a cold, dry weekend and we'll be seeing some rain moving in for the start of next week. i'll have that forecast in a moment. >> thank you. remembering the life of one of their own.

and track athlete at old miss and she got her start at dutchwork high school. she was a great athlete but an even better person. news 19 reports. >> reporter: ole miss volleyball player laport died in a car accident on thursday night nearly 30 miles from ole miss' campus. she left her mark on everyone she came in contact with, including her high school track coaches. athlete. she still holds the school record in the high jump and the triple jump and she was also a two-time state champion in the high jump. >> reporter: track coach says he was shocked to hear the news of her death. >> you hate to lose someone with that much spirit, that much ability at such a young age because you felt like she had so much to give to everyone. >> reporter: she set the bar high for other athletes

>> we were constantly looking for the next tyena. of course it's hard to live up to everything that she was as a person and an athlete. >> reporter: she helped the team win a state championship in 2009 but it was her day-to- day attitude that helped her win big with her teammates. >> she had that good mix. she was good in the classroom, she was good as a person, so supportive of our younger athletes, of our more experienced athletes. she listened to what the coaches had to say. she was just a pleasure to work with. >> reporter: and a champion both on and off the track. laport was a senior communications major at ole miss. highway patrol is still investigating what caused the crash. the effects of the october

in roads throughout the state. the state transportation department released their monthly update saying 25 bridges are being fast tracked for replacement. that includes the bridge on congress road in lower richland county, which crews will begin working on next week. and the rock bridge in forrest acres set to open by june 1st. a neighbor says it's put a few extra minutes into his daily route. >> it's a little bit of an inconvenience because we have to go around about to go over to decker and come down to get to 77 or go over to forrest drive so it takes a few more minutes to do that now than before. >> statewide the transportation department says they have more than 125 active bridge projects. 15 people have been tested for the zika virus so far here in south carolina. 11 tests have come back

pending for those other tests. starting this week testing for the virus has been done in state labs as opposed to the cdc. that is all in an effort to reduce the turn around time for those results. so far no one in the u.s. has gotten the virus from the mosquito but 52 cases have been confirmed among returning travelers as of february 10th. a couple of events happening in columbia tomorrow. the fireflies will be hosting a job fair at the columbia convention center. some of the jobs include ushers, tick takers video production, and special events. this is from 9-2 tomorrow. also tomorrow a prayer event taking place in columbia from 5-7 at the metropolitan convention center.

>> and you don't have to take 3 a cold february day is the perfect time to take a dip in lake a cold february day is the perfect time to take a dip in lake murray. tomorrow is the annual polar plunge. the south carolina department of public safety and other law enforcement agencies are hosting the event to raise money for the special olympics. registration is at 10 at the lake murray recreation area followed by a costume contest at 11.

take that plunge. everybody is welcome, but plungers are asked to raise a minimum of $50 in order to do it. >> is it going to be really, really cold for them in the morning? >> it will be cold in lake murray. >> there's going tobe a bit of wind. >> it's going to be freezing. pack some sweats. we've got some really cold air pushing down into the midwest and into the eastern part of the country. tonight already in minneapolis they're down to 2 degrees. 9 degrees in chicago. it's that air mass that will be moving into the northeast and into the southeast and in fact up in the northeast there could be some record low temperatures mass. it won't be records for us, but it's going to be cold enough with a weather system that brought a little bit of rain and up to our north a little wintry mix has moved on out into the atlantic.

coming through the ohio river valley. that's the leading edge of that surge of cold air that's moved into the midwest. high pressure coming down out of canada will be pushing and building into our area. as a result, it will be windy tomorrow. right now, skies have cleared over a good part of south carolina. just a few clouds left in the region, but they're moving out. the northeastern part of the state is where the coldest temperatures were today and where they continue to be. it's 29 degrees in florence. 32 in rock hill. 35 in sumpter and 48 degrees over in augusta with clear skies. the reason for that, the western part of the state is seeing some wind right now. in augusta, winds are sustained at 14 miles an hour. that's mixing the air keeping that temperature up. i think we'll be seeing an increase in winds across the rest of the state. low temperatures tomorrow morning won't be as cold as they will sunday morning.

saturday night we'll under stly clear skies. but on sunday, partly cloudy skies as high clouds begin to move in. the real change comes sunday night. we're going to see clouds increasing pretty quickly across the area. by daybreak on monday, there could be patchy light rain in the mid lands or freezing rain. most of it is going to be in the up state region into north carolina and even there it's not going to last very long. anything we see here should not be enough to cause any problems. everything changes over to rain during the morning, and most of our rain wiwi be coming late afternoon into monday night ending by tuesday morning. here's our forecast for tonight. expecting upper 20s to low 30s. 31 in columbia. tomorrow we'll be seeing high temperatures in the low to mid- 40s.

the swelling in his left knee due to a bruised bone and bruised cartilage forced him to sit out tonight's game. goodwin was honored before the game for going over the 1000 point march. he would play prominently in the outcome of tonight's game. last time they met, the falcons ended the skyhawks winning streak. the falcons trying to sweep the regular season series. ryan mccray makes a tough shot. led by 5 in the break. in the third quarter, they were up 31-18. the skyhawks get it going. that is lucas prichett. 36-32. 1.8 seconds left.

tip out to goodwin who abs it, throws it out for the tie, and that forces overtime at the buzzer. this is an incredible shot. they needed a miracle. they were down four, got the free throw, and the three pointer. there's mccray with the bucket. he led the falcons with 22. this game ended in double overtime with a score tied at 54 in the third overtime hammond finally got some separation. that's michael turner giving the hawks the lead. the exclamation point, it's points. hammond wins in dramatic fashion. tripping overtime, the fans really got their money's worth. 65-60 the final. there's the head coach. he had the consensus opinion this is about as wild a game
