story with each development and is standing by with the latest. >> reporter: they're. 49 year old greg leon is charged with murder and death of. according to the warrant for his arrest leon opened the back side door of a toyota tundra parked in the lot. he then shot and killed the man and leon attempted to murder his wife who was also in the car but the bullets missed. she called 911 and told police i shot my lover. the incident was captured on surveillance and he turned himself in and was denied bond earlier today. he is charged with attempted murder, murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and discharging firearm into an occupied vehicle. you may recognize his name because he was involved in public corruption investigation. he pled guilty to federal

the county illegally to work in his mexican restaurant. he testified that he paid the former sheriff to help employees avoid being processed at the county jail. leon got probation and a fine but no jail time because prosecutors said he was helpful in the prosecution. he is being held at the lexington county detention center. back to you. >> chuck, thank you so much. also making headlines, police say two of their officers have been cleared after a investigation into a fatal shooting. the shooting came as police were trying to arrest 21 year old bryant for having a bag of marijuana november 17. today the department released dash cam video of the shooting and what led to bryant's death. >> you forget you had that? did you?

>> the video does not show the shots that killed bright. one austin texaser was shot in the leg. the entire dash cam video is on our website. police are searching for suspects they say crashed a stolen vehicle and shot at a victim. two men stole a car and a short time later it crashed at fair road and easter street. the son of the woman who owns the car spoke to news 19 and said the vehicle was taken while the car was being warmed up. he said he found the suspect driving the car and followed them. after the crash the son said the suspect shot at him as they were running away. he was not hurt and we caught up with him after the incident. >> they were young kids. i don't know what's wrong with this generation these days. they don't understand people are working hard for the little things they have and they just want to take it.

we began to see a little bit of light freezing rain. that moved up toward the north as the day wore on and the temperatures rose. we don't have that problem any more. we are not going to for the rest of the night. we do have a few showers that are mainly moving to the north. you see they extend in the western part into kershaw county continuing to move to the north. light. we still have cold temperatures. in green borrow, they're at 28. charlotte is at 30. it's 45 degrees. temperatures are much warmer south of there. here is where the front is, moving slowly to the north. it is 64 in savannah, 66 in georgia. in columbia it is cloudy, 37 degrees with winds from the east at 7 miles per hour. it makes it feel like it is 32 degrees outside. for tonight, temperatures are going to be slowly rising overnight and we will be seeing a good chance for showers and thunderstorms after midnight tonight.

we've got two areas of concern that we are watching. first, we have been watching all the freezing rain in north carolina and it has been producing some sleet as well and earlier in the day some snow in the area. driving has been a little bit of a problem in north carolina. fortunately here in south carolina that has not been the case. further to the west we've got this body of thunderstorms moving through alabama and tornado watch in effect for the evening hours we'll be watching because this is likely to be expanded into parts of georgia. i don't think we will see severe weather but we may see thunderstorms. we have a warm front that cuts across low country of south carolina. it is slowly moving northward and some of the moisture over the cold air has produced showers in the midlands. you see the freezing rain that's in north carolina but the bulk of the rain is to our west. this is part of a storm system that will be coming to our area overnight. we have a second system that's

this will be coming through tomorrow night. we have two chances for rain. look at the cold air we are seeing. in greenville they're at 28, 34 greenwood, 37 columbia, 45 orange orangeburg. south of the front, temperatures are in the 60s. we'll see showers in the evening but the line of showers and thunderstorms will be coming through during the early morning and quickly move through. by day break we will clear out. there will be sunshine tomorrow and then the second system comes in tomorrow night with a chance for showers. it too moves out rapidly and it will be partly cloudy wednesday. tonight, we are close to our low temperature right now for the overnight period. 33 in newbury and winnsboro, 40 sumpter, 45 orangeburg. temperatures will slowly rise overnight. tomorrow we are expecting high temperatures in the low to mid 60s, 63 in columbia.

wednesday with 63 degrees. a tad cooler thursday with a high of 58 but warming up from there. 65 friday, 71 degrees on saturday. now let's take a look at the traffic once again in our area this afternoon. we'll do a quick overview here of the traffic. you see across a good part of the country the map is green with traffic moving in good shape. the same is true on the northeast side of town with a bit of a slow down as you head towards clemson road. on the southwest side of town, all the interstates are in good shape. on the northwest, we are actually beginning to see a little bit of a slow down on i- 26 as you leave the malfunction junction area. in the west bound lane of i-20 here the speed is down to an average of about 25 miles per hour. a bit of a slow down. if you are going from downtown, it should take you nine minutes.

downtown to lexington on 378, will take about 22 minutes. back to you. february is black history month so today columbia parks and recreation department hosted a black history extravaganza at green view park. it included exhibitors, vendors, live entertainment. guest speakers were council woman divine and radio and tv personality harty. council woman divine is the first african-american female to serve on city council and first african-american to be elected at large. >> it's great to talk about history as far as the stuff that we read in books and see in the media. however, there is also the real personal history, the personal stories that the people in the community have. it is so important that they continue to share the stories with the young people coming up so we know our history in the city and how we can build upon that to continue to make our city a better place.

a weapon during a violent crime, and discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle. you may recognize leon's name because he was involved in public corruption investigation in lexington county. leon pled guilty to federal charges of knowingly hiring 60 people in the country illegally to work in his mexican restaurant. leon testified he paid money that ended up going to former lexington county sheriff james mets to help employees avoid charges at the jail. leon was put on probation and paid a fine but faced no jail time because he cooperated in the prosecution of mets. he is being held in lexington county jail and there is no word when he will first appear in court. two officers have been cleared after an investigation into a fatal shooting that took place a november 17. officers were attempting to arrest 21 year old bryant after
