3 democratic presidential candidates... hilary clinton and bernie sanders... are winding down after last night's nevada caucus... and focusing their attention on the primary here in the palmetto state.we're just six days away from democratic primary day. news 19's loren thomas has more on what's to come next saturday. 3 nat: hilary cheersafter a big night in nevada hillary clinton is looking for another win over bernie sanders here in south carolina, but jamie harrison, chairman of the south carolina democratic party says it's not going to be such an easy win."secretary clinton prevailed. she now comes into south carolina with some momentum. the polls in the state indicate that she has the lead here. so there's a lot of hard work that has to happen on both sides."harrison says both clinton and sanders have to focus on the african american vote for this primary. "in 2008, african americans made up 55% of the vote in the democratic primary. women made up 61% of the vote in the democratic primary. so that tells you that african american women are

campaigns have to focus on." especially african american women ages 45 and above, where sanders has a stronger focus on young voters. todd shaw, associate professor of political science and african american studies at usc says bernie sanders still has to let voters know who he is and what he's all about. "bernies is still trying to establish himself. convince african american voters this gentleman from a state that's 95% white in terms of the electorate he represents can represent us or represent me in terms of what african americans are asking. so i think that's the factor that's weighing on bernie sanders in terms of his connection in the african american community. although i think he sure is trying hard." shaw says clinton's powerful endorsements can also make it difficult for sanders to get ahead in the palmetto state. but we'll just have to see how primary unfolds come february 27th.in columbia, loren thomas news 19 wltx.
