the heroic rescue. good morning. miriah: the two boys, ages 8 and 12, are recovering this morning at children' s hospital after falling through the ice on a lake. they were treated for exposure and hypothermia, and their neighbors are being credited with saving their lives. pamela neville says she heard cries coming from lake lorelei in brown county and instantly knew something was terribly wrong. she got her husband and her son, john, and they began the rescue. john and his father got into a boat and made their way to the boys, breaking the ice as they went. they managed to get close enough to the panicking boys for john to pull them to the boat. paramedics were on scene by then and aircare transported the boys. again, these boys were being treated for hypothermia and exposure last night, but by the sounds of it, they are lucky to have made it out of such a scary situation with their lives. and they have some very special neighbors to thank for that. lisa? lisa: thank you. five people are recovering this morning after a boiler explodes at crossroads church on the west

one of them suffered serious injuries. police say two people were working on a boiler at the church on bridgetown road in miami township wednesday afternoon when it exploded. there was no fire and no major structural damage done to the building. the fire department says everything happened and was contained inside the boiler room. >> it did blow out the windows in the area of where the boilers were, so it didn' t blow out any other windows anywhere else throughout the building. it' s just the immediate furnace room windows were blown out. lisa: one of the repairmen had serious cuts to his face. the other repairman and three church employees suffered minor cuts and bruises. crossroads is still deciding if weekend services at their west side location will go forward. the white house is now casting doubt on north korea' s claims that it tested a hydrogen bomb. the president' s spokesman says the government' s early analysis of underground activity is not consistent with claims that a

s possible north korea tested another type of bomb instead. north korea most recently claimed to test a nuclear weapon in 2013. a baltimore judge has ruled that one of the police officers charged in the death of freddie gray will have to testify against the officer who drove the police wagon. william porter' s trial ended last month in a mistrial. this coming monday, the trial for the wagon driver, ceasar goodson, is set to begin. he' s facing the most serious charges of all six officers charged in gray' s death. he has been charged with second-degree depraved heart murder, manslaughter, reckless endangerment, second-degree assault, and two counts of vehicular manslaughter. new this morning, an early-morning car fire under investigation in miami township. investigators responded to the 7700 block of jandaracres road

the car was unoccupied and was parked in front of a home. police were about to speak with the owner of the car, which sustained some significant charring damage. the incident remains under investigation. more expansion and innovation for cincinnati' s riverfront. we' re now learning of plans for a music venue downtown at the banks, but it appears those plans may die before an exact location is even decided on. city leaders tell us while there were supporters of the proposal, there' s been a lot of opposition from those who fear the competition may take away money from existing venues. one venue mentioned was riverbend music center, which is owned by the cincinnati symphony orchestra. in a statement, a spokeswoman for the cso says they are "actively considering how we might leverage our considerable expertise around facility development projects, presenting concerts of all types, and event management to support a sustainable, successful new venue to serve our community. we' ve been involved in some very preliminary conversations and are eager to be part of any

but she made it there all the same. after serving in the army, she worked her way up to being a teacher at north college hill elementary. that' s when mary said she realized she needed to return to the classroom herself. she eventually received her ph.d. late last year from miami university, but when it came time for her commencement ceremony, once again she chose the road less traveled. she wanted to celebrate her success with her own students, and several officials from miami joined in. >> this degree gives me entry into the conversation. so as a teacher, a classroom teacher, oftentimes we don' t have a say in what happens in the classroom and the kinds of things that should be happening in the classroom. kyla: dr. webb said it was imperative to have her students here to see this achievement, because now it not only opens doors for her, but for them, too. she hopes her students remember this day and her message. lisa? lisa: thank you. happening this week in fairfield, students are learning how to stand up to bullies, and
