lisa: good morning, i' m lisa cooney. mark hayes has the day off. randi rico is here with a check on your forecast. randi: temperatures on the upswing today and tomorrow. we are hitting the 50' s. it doesn' t stay that way. they will crash area that is the best way to describe it on sunday. as we look at the radar this morning, rain rolled in around 2:00 this morning and right now, rolling its way to the north. the leading edges in dayton moving toward wilmington. temperature wise, most places are in the upper 30' s and low 40' s. the chance of any slick spot -- we have heard a couple of spots on the elevated services, but this is pushing with a warm push of air. if there is any limited slick spot, they shouldn' t be lasting

watching those showers lived to too hefty. cvg. now in florence and loveland. there is the breakdown today. 8:00 a.m., rain showers, temperatures close to 40. at noon today, still soggy, 46. not ruling out a stray sprinkle, but generally, cloudy and mild, a higher run 50. -- around 50. lisa: breaking now, philadelphia police say an officer is undergoing surgery after he was ambushed as he sat in his marked police cruiser. police say last night the suspect fired a total of 13 shots that hit the officer three times in the arm. the officer returned fire, hitting the suspect three times. both were taken to the hospital. the officer is expected to survive. there' s no word on the suspect' s condition. high on heroin and shooting up in children' s hospital. one woman is dead and an alabama father is set to be arraigned

and weapon charges. his seven-month-old baby was at children' s hospital for treatment when police say the two overdosed in the baby' s room. wlwt news 5' s emily wood has a look at what happened. >> i can' t answer the question of why. i' ve asked quite a few and there are a lot of different answers for everybody. emily without knowing why, : cincinnati police are investigating how 31-year-old wesley landers brought drugs and a loaded weapon into cincinnati children' s hospital. based on court documents, medical staff searched landers and found a 22 caliber semi-automatic handgun loaded and chambered in his pants pocket. in addition to the heroin syringe and his arm two heroin , syringes were also found on the bathroom sink counter >> initially it was a shock that it was in a healthcare facility, in a child'

emily hamilton county coroner : dr. lakshmi sammarco says she was talking with a group of drugs when she got the call about two adult overdoses at children' s. she says drug overdose deaths surpassed car accident deaths in hamilton county more than 5 years ago. and as the trend keeps going up, it is more and more difficult to explain why it is happening. >> you wonder if the child had been exposed prior to, prior to being born in utero so it raises a lot of questions. lisa: that was emily wood reporting. children' s hospital released a statement. on it' s security practices. it said in part, patient safety is a top priority and taken very seriously. we have a cincinnati police officer at the main location 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. we are always re-evaluating our security measures to ensure the safety of our patients. it is 4:34 right now. a former aberdeen police chief found guilty of domestic abuse

the family of clark gast' s late wife laura says he used to beat her. and they believe that led to her death. gast faces up to six months in jail and a $1000 fine. new this morning in covington. police were called to a car fire early this morning on 9th street. the car was vacant at the time . police say they don' t believe the fire is suspicious. it does remain under investigation. we are learning about the hamilton home where a firefighter was killed in a recent arson case was targeted several times before the fire. wlwt news 5' s miriah turner is at the live alert desk with the latest developments. miriah: lisa according to police , records the house had been targeted with crimes four times in four years. this all before the latest arson case that took the life of hamilton firefighter patrick wolterman. the incidents range from theft to menacing. this past november the home owner reported guns and alarm system wires had been stolen from the house. no one was ever charged.

daughter reported a suspect making threatening remarks towards her. investigators told dispatchers to add a hazard caution on any calls made from the house. again, no one was ever charged. in august 2012 the homeowners car was keyed overnight. and in february 2011. police were called when the home' s burglary alarm went off. just last month that burglar alarm would go off again when ptrick wolterman would fall to his death in the house fire. the arson and homicide investigation are still active. there is a $20,000 dollar reward for any information if you know anything call crimestoppers. from the live alert desk i' m miriah turner. lisa: federal officials in two states say they have arrested people on terrorism related charges. according to court documents in california, a 23-year-old man in sacramento, was trying to travel to syria, to fight alongside terrorist organizations. and in texas a houston area man was indicted, on charges that he tried to provide support to the islamic state.
