they are trying to make repairs. they tried to find the pi pe and then shot it off and working to make those repairs. right now playing field road -- plainfield road is closed in the silverton area. we want to give you an idea of how this is going to affect traffic. montgomery is not close. let' s go to kyla woods. kyla: luckily montgomery road is still open. that gives folks a main there a their affair. emergency crews are still on the scene. you are still able to access montgomery road.

closures on wlwt.com. powerball fever is bringing on another rush for tickets ahead of tonight' s drawing. lisa: the jackpot is almost unbelievable -- $1.5 billion. dan griffin is live in the newroom with more on where you can get your hands on some free tickets today. dan: powerball fever just keeps getting hotter. the jackpot now sitting at $1.5 billion, with a cash option of $930 million. those watching the money grow are anxious for tonight' s big drawing. the 20th in this current run. and the kentucky lottery is helping with a few extra chances to win. today, they' re giving away 1500 free powerball tickets across the state of kentucky. one of the four locations with a portion of those tickets is remke market in taylor mill. those free tickets will be up for grabs at 2:00 this afternoon. total powerball sales in kentucky last week were more than $15 million. all eyes will be on those numbers tonight for that big jackpot drawing. in the newsroom, dan griffin, wlwt news 5. lisa: thank you.

final state of the union address last night, laying out his agenda for what he hopes will be a busy eighth year in office. the president' s final state of optimistic tone, combining an ambitious agenda with a sense of with recent terror attacks on the minds of many americans, the president discussed how he plans to handle the growing threat of isis. president obama: if this congress is serious about winning this war and wants to send a message to our troops and the world, you should finally authorize the use of military force against isil. take a vote. lisa: the path ahead for the president will not be easy. election years can be difficult ones to get things done. the president hopes last night' s speech will serve as a call to action. on the other hand, republicans believe the president missed the chance to speak to congress about some big issues. >> well, unfortunately i think it was a missed opportunity. i would have liked to see the president say he was going to reach out to the elected representatives of the american

things. for example, reduce this $18 trillion debt we have hanging over our heads. mark: one of the first lady' s special guests last night was cincinnati native jim obergefell. he was the plaintiff in the u.s. supreme court case legalizing gay marriage. obergefell got an invitation to the address from oregon senator jeff merkley. he' s one of the lead sponsors of the equality act working its way through congress. we talked with obergefell on the phone from washington, d.c. he says he is thankful the president is continuing the fight for lgbtq equality in 2016. >> i' ve discovered i love being part of something that' s bigger and more important than i am, and i can' t give that up. i value that. we' re fighting to include people. to me, that' s what the united states is about. it' s about including people, protecting people, treating people equally.

keeping busy with speaking engagements and is writing his first book. also in the chamber was rowan county clerk kim davis from kentucky. she was invited by ohio representative jim jordon, who offered her a ticket after hearing she wanted to attend. davis went to jail over her refusal to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. lisa: the prosecutor' s office is still looking into whether to charge a father in east price hill after fatally shooting his own son. the man apparently thought the 14-year-old was someone breaking into their home. into their home. around 6:30 tuesday morning, police say the father fired at what he thought was an intruder, but it was his son, georta mack. who was supposed to be on his way to school. many close to the family remember georta as a good kid who had a strong relationship with his father. >> they had a really close bond. his dad would do anything for him. his dad always wanted to keep him out the streets, keep him from being bad. >> type of kid that always smiled, you know. always outside having fun with

know. come down here to play basketball with him all the time, you know. pretty cool little kid. lisa: mack died at children' s medical center from a bullet wound to the neck. mark: i-74 is now open after being shut down for more than eight hours, after a 40-car pile-up. trucks and cars had been at a standstill along the highway and side roads. the crash, mainly consisting of big rigs, caused holes in the highway crews had to repair. then they threw down salt over icy spots so this doesn' t happen again this morning. >> i would encourage drivers to be cautious this time of year, especially when temperatures are so cold. mark: six people were rushed to the hospital, but everyone is expected to be ok. troopers say even though the big rigs made the cleanup complicated, they actually saved the day, because drivers aren' t hurt as often since they sit so much higher than in a passenger car. let' s get right to check the roads this morning. kyla: not dealing with anything

mark: good morning and welcome back. seven degrees as we get started today. be sure to bundle up. checking today' s headlines. attorney general loretta lynch will visit a boston jail today to discuss the obama administration' s work on reforming the criminal justice system. lynch' s visit to the suffolk county house of correction comes a day after the president' s final state of the union address. during the visit, the attorney general will meet with local leaders of a couple of programs that aim to prepare people for their return to society. later in the day, lynch will visit harvard law school where she will deliver remarks on criminal justice and re-entry services. lisa: new developments in the conflict between north and south korea. military officials in the south say warning shots were fired at

close to the border. reports say the object was a north korean drone, and 20 rounds were fired from machine guns. north korean officials have not responded to the reports. mark: in houston, texas, nfl owners voted to approve a move that would allow the st. louis rams to relocate back to los angeles. the deal will also give the san diego charges the option to head north to l.a. in 2017. the rams' move would end the nfl' s 21-year absence from the nation' s second-largest media market. ohio voters could register to vote online if a new bill passes. right now you can update your address, but can' t register online. people applying to vote would have to provide a driver' s license or state i.d. card number to register. you could also declare a party affiliation. the state senate already approved the bill. lisa: the flu is starting to make its way around the country. the cdc reports two states are now reporting widespread flu activity, maryland and north carolina.

somewhat in connecticut, iowa, massachusetts, new hampshire, pennsylvania and virgina. right now cases in ohio, kentucky, and indiana are minimal. experts say there is still time to get a flu shot. flu season typically peaks around february. mark: allegiant airlines celebrated the opening of its new base at cvg with new flights. the base will mean more than 100 new jobs in greater cincinnati. starting in april, allegiant will offer nonstop flights from cincinnati to baltimore-washington. and in may, it' ll launch seasonal service to destin, fort walton beach. here' s something to look forward to this summer. construction is well underway in mason on king island' s newest attraction. tropical plunge will be a seven-story ride with six different water slides. crews have put up the first poles in the snow. tropical plunge will be ready >> cincinnati' s certified most accurate forecast.
