there was quite a police response, including the homicide unit. when police arrived, they tell us they found the man dead. his identity hasn' t been revealed this morning. we are working to get more information about the shooting, including the motive and the victim' s identity. the details have not been released but we are working to get those for you. live in westwood, dan griffin, wlwt news 5. mark: a deadly plane crash just north of cincinnati. it happened in xenia, just off a runway around 6:00 last night. the ohio state highway patrol is at the scene of the wreckage along with greene county' s coroner. at least one person has died. a witness who' s lived near the greene county airport for decades describes seeing the final few seconds of the flight. >> it just looked like it just went nose first from my vantage point into the trees. but when i got here and the emergency vehicles got here, they found the plane on the end of the runway. mark: the national transportation safety board says it will continue the

up. lisa: breaking overnight, someone opens fire at a homeless encampment in seattle killing two and wounding three others. a search for at least one person is underway. and urged people to stay away from the downtown area where it took place. one person is dead and eight have been arrested in the oregon standoff. an armed group that has occupied a national wildlife refuge for the past three weeks. shots were reportedly fired when they were stopped by the fbi. lisa: understanding homelessness in our own cities. happening today, groups in northern kentucky will conduct a count today of the men and women living on the streets. mark: wlwt news 5'

setters is live in covington this morning to tell us why this is such an important event. andrew: the homeless count gives groups who are trying to help a snapshot of just how big the they' ll be out on the streets looking for people who are homeless. the homeless count helps to establish the level of federal and state funding that flows to programs to help the homeless. hamilton county conducted their count last night and into early this morning. now northern kentucky agencies are beginning their tally. they' ll count up people who are staying in shelters, along with those they are able to track down and encounter on the streets. they' ll cover boone, kenton, and campbell counties. during last year' s count they found 327 people. we' ll be tagging along as they conduct their count and try to get a better idea of the work they do. live in covington, andrew setters, wlwt news 5. lisa: trying to stop crimes on

a chance for showers and thunderstorms on tuesday. lisa: an indiana principal is being remembered this morning. susan jordan died after being hit by a school bus outside of an indianapolis-area elementary school. two 10-year-olds were also critically hurt when the bus jumped a curb. 25 students were on that bus at the time. the superintendent says susan jordan was a beloved educator on the job for 22 years. the cause of the crash remains under investigation. mark: happening today, the senate judiciary committee will hold a hearing on the heroin and prescription drug abuse epidemic that has taken hold in many communities around the country. in attendance will be ohio' s own senator rob portman and new hampshire senator kelly ayotte, who will both speak about the crises in their home states. the centers for disease control reported earlier this month that the rate of deaths from drug overdose involving opioid pain relievers and heroin increased
