mark: now at news 5 today, a plane crash just north of cincinnati turns deadly. the latest on the investigation in greene county. lisa: questions remaining this morning after a deadly shooting in westwood. a live report on what we know so far in the investigation. mark: plus, after more than three weeks occupying a national wildlife refuge in oregon, arrests have been made. at noon, expect a few peaks of sunshine, 33. temperature-wise pretty similar to worry ended up yesterday afternoon. highs today in the 30' s. i have 60' days as high temperatures. mark: an apartment parking lot overnight. lisa: police found a man shot to they' re trying to find the person responsible. wlwt news 5' s dan griffin is leading the way with the new information we' ve just learned overnight. bring us up to date. dan: a man was shot and killed in this apartment complex. a playground in the background. we do not know the motive for the shooting. the shooting happened just after 10:00 last night here at the western hills apartment complex in westwood. this is in the 2600 block of

there was quite a police response, including the homicide unit. when police arrived, they tell us they found the man dead. his identity hasn' t been revealed this morning. we are working to get more information about the shooting, including the motive and the victim' s identity. the details have not been released but we are working to get those for you. live in westwood, dan griffin, wlwt news 5. mark: a deadly plane crash just north of cincinnati. it happened in xenia, just off a runway around 6:00 last night. the ohio state highway patrol is at the scene of the wreckage along with greene county' s coroner. at least one person has died. a witness who' s lived near the greene county airport for decades describes seeing the final few seconds of the flight. >> it just looked like it just went nose first from my vantage point into the trees. but when i got here and the emergency vehicles got here, they found the plane on the end of the runway. mark: the national transportation safety board says it will continue the

up. lisa: breaking overnight, someone opens fire at a homeless encampment in seattle killing two and wounding three others. a search for at least one person is underway. and urged people to stay away from the downtown area where it took place. one person is dead and eight have been arrested in the oregon standoff. an armed group that has occupied a national wildlife refuge for the past three weeks. shots were reportedly fired when they were stopped by the fbi. lisa: understanding homelessness in our own cities. happening today, groups in northern kentucky will conduct a count today of the men and women living on the streets. mark: wlwt news 5'

setters is live in covington this morning to tell us why this is such an important event. andrew: the homeless count gives groups who are trying to help a snapshot of just how big the they' ll be out on the streets looking for people who are homeless. the homeless count helps to establish the level of federal and state funding that flows to programs to help the homeless. hamilton county conducted their count last night and into early this morning. now northern kentucky agencies are beginning their tally. they' ll count up people who are staying in shelters, along with those they are able to track down and encounter on the streets. they' ll cover boone, kenton, and campbell counties. during last year' s count they found 327 people. we' ll be tagging along as they conduct their count and try to get a better idea of the work they do. live in covington, andrew setters, wlwt news 5. lisa: trying to stop crimes on

mark: the butler county sheriff now has a safe place for you to go if you' re looking to sell something on craigslist or ebay. news 5' s tammy mutasa has more. >> i didn' t think he would take the money and run away. tammy: wesley foister is no craigslist beginner. >> done multiple transactions on craigslist. always met in public places. jungle jims or mcdonald' s. tammy: but last august a craigslist ad for an ipad left him swindled out of $250. >> it just didn' t turn out the way i expected. tammy: according to court documents, the young dad arranged to meet michael stetson at a loveland mcdonald' s. stetson pretended to get the ipad from a friend inside and never came back. stetson was convicted in the case. >> he seemed like a nice enough fellow, so i handed him the money standing right outside mcdonald' s and he went in. a minute later he hadn' t come out, so i went in and he wasn' t anywhere to be found. tammy: starting february 1st, the butler county sheriff' s

the debate. mark: his campaign manager says he will definitely skip the debate that will air on fox news because of his fight with the cable network. trump was set to take the center podium for the debate before iowa' s caucus on monday. in the latest quinnipiac poll, trump leads in iowa by 2%, just ahead of ted cruz. ohio governor john kasich and u.s. senator rand paul from kentucky also made tomorrow' s prime-time debate. lisa: good morning to you. what is up today in the forecast? randi: we are starting out 29, 30 degrees across much of the area. the same feel as we had yesterday but more sunshine for the second half of the day. right now 29 degrees at cvg and hamilton, and there is a little

time, but there' s an immense amount of mutual respect between the two. as captured on nfl total access on nfl network, it appears manning told belichick, "bill, thanks. hey, listen, this might be my last rodeo, so it sure has been a pleasure." so is this the end? we' ll have to wait until after the super bowl to find out. apple posted the most profitable quarter for any american company in history. but it looks like the company' s era of unprecedented growth is over. it showed iphone sales growing with last quarter beating sales from the year before by less than 1%, but that growth is slowing down. ipad sales fell 25% and mac sales fell 4%. apple forcasts falling sales in the current quarter for the first time in 13 years. and what is america' s favorite comfort food? it' s pizza. that' s according to a study conducted by the harris poll, which is one of the largest running surveys measuring public opinion in the u.s. just over 2200 adults in the u.s. were surveyed in december

a chance for showers and thunderstorms on tuesday. lisa: an indiana principal is being remembered this morning. susan jordan died after being hit by a school bus outside of an indianapolis-area elementary school. two 10-year-olds were also critically hurt when the bus jumped a curb. 25 students were on that bus at the time. the superintendent says susan jordan was a beloved educator on the job for 22 years. the cause of the crash remains under investigation. mark: happening today, the senate judiciary committee will hold a hearing on the heroin and prescription drug abuse epidemic that has taken hold in many communities around the country. in attendance will be ohio' s own senator rob portman and new hampshire senator kelly ayotte, who will both speak about the crises in their home states. the centers for disease control reported earlier this month that the rate of deaths from drug overdose involving opioid pain relievers and heroin increased

lisa: a local group working to it has ran out of a drug to revive people who have overdosed. the cincinnati exchange project says it gave out its last narcan kit this week, and they have no funding to purchase more. no word yet on what they plan to do to get more narcan kits into mark: happening today, mayor john cranley will launch a new in cincinnati. the veterans economic communities initiative is already operating in 53 u.s. cities. the chamber, united way, and mt. saint joe will help launch cincinnati' s chapter at 11:00 this morning. the goal is to increase education and employment choices for veterans. lisa: the race for rand paul' s seat in the u.s. senate is heating up. lexington' s mayor has now joined the race. jim gray has now filed papers to run as a democrat in the u.s. senate race. gray is one of five democrats running. voters will decide on a candidate in may. on the republican side, senator paul is running for re-election
