some students within close range of the guns received welts from the pellets. >> and then i felt it and i saw him and i' m, like, oh, he shot me and then they proceeded up the isle shooting. and after the end, the cop collected the guns and started asking, ok, who got shot? mark: wilmington college says it' s unfortunate this happened. a spokesman says the college relied on the officer' s judgment about how the training should be conducted. lisa: a jury trial begins today for the man at the center of a 20-hour swat standoff in latonia. 43-year-old michael vaughan faces attempted-murder charges after allegedly shooting at police back in december of 2013. he was shot in the arm before finally surrendering. vaughan is a military veteran who suffers from posttraumatic stress disorder. police say he held his three children inside that home for several hours. a 7-month old boy is in critical condition this morning after he

on 275 monday. wlwt news 5' s miriah turner has the latest on the wreck that killed the driver and backed up rush hour for hours. miriah: fort thomas police say both speed and drugs could be factors. needles were found inside the car, and the driver who died had track marks on his arm. this all happened around 2:30 monday afternoon on 275 east of the 471 exit. police say a four-door sedan somehow drove off the right side of the road and rolled several times, ejecting three of the four people inside. the 7-month-old boy was thrown out of his car seat and, according to a witness, flew 30 feet in the air before landing on the ground. a woman in the back seat with the baby is currently in critical condition at uc medical center. the front-seat passenger, a man, was the only one who remained in the car. he was talking and alert at the scene in stable condition. police say it is unclear if any of the adults were wearing seat

at this point, no names have been released, or the relationships between the driver m miriah turner. mark: thank you. new information about a crash between a school bus and suv that killed a woman. it happened just outside mowrystown in highland county monday morning. police say the bus was stopped to pick up kids when it was rear-ended by the suv. the driver of that suv, 54-year-old helen dean, died. police say she was not wearing a seat belt. we didn' t hear any kind of screech of brakes. we just heard the collision. mark: state highway patrol says their initial findings also conclude the driver didn' t brake and that the suv didn' t have its headlights on. five students were taken to the hospital to get checked out, but they' re expected to be ok. lisa: the community support to

this morning. mark: andrew setters is live at the store with the major donation set to take place today. good morning. lisa: the rabbit hash general store was insured for less than half the amount it' ll cost to replace it. so when it burned last week, the questions immediately started swirling about the future of the store. fire ripped through the building, which has stood on this spot for more than 175 years. they worked to save it, but there was little that could be done. the fire was devastating. the community has vowed to rebuild it and they' ll get some help today. duke energy will donate $25,000 to the rabbit hash historical society' s efforts to rebuild the general store. they plan to reconstruct it to resemble the original as closely as possible. we'

the prosecutor says dalton admitted his involvement in the incident. police believe dalton shot eight people at an apartment complex, restaurant, and car dealership in kalamazoo saturday night. so far, no motive has been determined, and officials have not found a connection between dalton and the victims. if convicted, dalton could be sentenced to life in prison. cincinnati police hacked by a secret group. officers don' t want to give the group called anonymous more publicity or credibility. lisa: but the hacking of personal information has triggered a serious cyber investigation. wlwt news 5' s miriah turner tells us more. good morning. miriah: cincinnati police are taking extra caution this morning. police have launched a cyber investigation to try and figure out if the anonymous attack was local or imported. the group called a recent police shooting a murder. and they released more than 50 officers' personal information in response. we' re told officers are increasing their sense of awareness in light of the hacking, and that they recognize the intent is to rile them up

dan: investigators say they may be known as entertainers, but members of rap group fdd are really dangerous criminals. cincinnati police say a drug bust friday. only wlwt was allowed to see their stash of cash, weed and cell phones. cincinnati police say a traffic stop led to a search warrant where they found 152 pounds of weed worth more than $150,000. they also found nearly the same amount in cash and three guns. police tell us this group is responsible for a series of violent crimes in the west end from may through november, including shootings and murder. police say a half-dozen arrests are just the start. they expect more arrests and charges soon. live, dan griffin, wlwt news 5. lisa: thank you. send it -- cincinnati police have wrapped up their efforts to hear your idea about reducing violence. the final public forum with the new police chief took place last night in college chill.

donald trump expecting another win and the next battle for the gop nomination at today' s caucus in nevada. two of his rivals had some missteps. miriah turner is at the level or desk with more. miriah: donald trump may just laugh his way to a win in nevada, especially after a gaffe from john kasich and a campaign misstep from ted cruz. ted cruz has asked for his current communications director rick tyler to resign. it comes after tyler tweeted out a news story that falsely depicted rival marco rubio dismissing the bible. the story was not true, and the tweet was deleted. rubio' s campaign says cruz is spreading a culture of deceit in his own campaign. and the same day ohio governor john kasich made an eyebrow-raising remark about women. on the campaign trail in virginia, he talked about women coming out of the kitchen to support him. later in the day, kasich attempted to explain the comment, calling it off-the-cuff. >> everybody' s just got to
