it will be cloudy and breezy this morning. a cold front has passed us by. i think we see by lunchtime today sunshine and by midmorning the winds should be dying down. most places are seeing wind in the 20, 25 mile per hour range. by about 9:00, 10:00 this morning, the wind should not be as much of an issue. about 41 degrees at cvg. a windy start the things improved by lunchtime. expect another mild day. for leap day, not too bad this afternoon. kyla: a smooth start to our monday morning.

the mother of a friend. north korea announced in late january that it had arrested the university of virginia undergrad. developing now, we hope to learn more information about a body pulled from a northern kentucky creek. mark: the investigation is centered in bracken county' s snag creek. wlwt news 5' s andrew setters is leading the way with what we' ve learned so far. andrew? andrew: we know police were on scene in bracken county, working in the snag creek. they have since cleared the scene. we know a body was found, but we don' t know many details yet. kentucky state police say a body was found from the snag creek near the ohio river in bracken county. this is near the mehldal dam. police have said they don' t know yet if the body is that of a man or a woman. details like cause of death and how long they may have been in the water are also unknown. the discovery of the body in bracken county comes as pendleton county investigators continue to search for a missing woman.

missing since january 31. investigators said at the time she was believed to be heading to campbell county. there is a $10,000 reward for information about turner' s disappearance. pendleton county investigators searched near a boat ramp last weekend for her, but did not find anything. we are waiting to learn more from those investigators. reporting live, andrew setters, wlwt news 5. mark: a husband and wife tragically killed in an early-morning fire. they' ve now been identified as carol hochchild and cynthia hochchild. crews went to their home just after 2:00 a.m. sunday, following a 911 call. the couple' s son and daughter-in-law were able to get out safely. the son along with a deputy sheriff tried frantically to get his mother out of a window, but they were unsuccessful. at least eight different departments came out to fight the fire. >> we deal with it on a lot of

logging accidents, structure fires. we always prepare for the worst and we hope for the best, but sometimes its always the worst. mark: officials are still investigating the cause of the fire. lisa: happening today, a jury trial begins this morning for both suspects in a child abuse case. dominic beal is accused in the death of 6-year-old deslinn nelson. he was deslinn' s uncle. the child suffered brain and spinal injuries in may of last year, but the exact cause of death still isn' t known. his wife, marketta, is charged with the child' s actual murder. prosecutors say beal didn' t seek medical help until it was too late, which is why he' s facing involuntary manslaughter charges. mark: two of the republican candidates will be making their way to our part of the country. happening today, dr. ben carson plans to host a rally down in lexington. republican front-runner donald trump will make a stop in columbus, ohio, tomorrow on

then he will make his way down to louisville. he will host a rally at the kentucky international convention center. new this morning, donald trump endorsement for his 2016 presidential run. alabama senator jeff sessions has announced he is backing trump for the republican nomination. news, ohio' s governor is weighing in on what it would take for him to drop out of the race. he addressed rumors mitt romney told him to quit on nbc' s "meet the press." gov. kasich: i' ve had a number of conversations with him and a lot of e-mail exchanges. and we just have to leave it there. at the end of the day, each of these candidates should be able to win their own home state. i' m going to win ohio. but if i don' t win ohio, then, you know, ballgame over. lisa: nbc news and "the wall street journal" just polled voters in three super-tuesday states. john kasich is in last place in georgia, tennessee and texas. donald trump is ahead in georgia and tennessee. the five republican candidates, as well as the two democrats,

mark: you may be feeling more cramped than ever on airplanes, but a new york senator hopes to stop the shrinkage. chuck schumer plans to introduce plane seat-size guidelines to the faa. he says legroom has shrunk an average of four inches, and seats are two inches narrower. sen. schumer: as you pay more and more for tickets, at least you ought to get a place to sit where you' re not treated as a sardine. mark: the guidelines would be an amendment to a pending faa reauthorization act. the senate is expected to vote on the act next month. >> cincinnati'

take by north korea later recanted confessions after they' re released. warm beer remains in custody -- warmbier remains in custody. lisa: a congregation in dayton is in shock after their pastor was killed at church. witnesses say william schooler was shot right after he finished his service on sunday. police say the man who pulled the trigger is schooler' s own brother. witnesses say pastor schooler went into his study following the final prayer, and that' s when his brother daniel got up and followed him inside. >> then we heard pa-pow, pa-pow, pa-pow. that' s when everybody started running. i had my coat and purse still in there. all i had -- i have to use this walker and we all ran out. , >> i can' t believe it. i can' t believe it, that my pastor is gone. lisa: dayton police arrested daniel schooler at the church. he is expected to appear in court on a charge of murder later today. mark: community leaders in hesston held a church service sunday for the victims in

lisa: a jury trial begins today for a pleasant ridge man accused of groping patients at good samaritan hospital. police say mark rivers, who was a patient at the time, got into bed with one victim and started touching her while she was sleeping. she woke up and got help. police say rivers admitted to touching other women at the hospital. he' s charged with two counts of sexual imposition. cincinnati police are investigating a shooting in avondale this morning. they say one person was shot sunday afternoon in the 500 block of hale avenue. police say they do not know the extent of the victim' s injuries, but the person is expected to survive. mark: new developments in the theft case involving a cincinnati police officer. according to court documents, officer joseph simpson was working an off-duty detail as an officer at a roselawn restaurant back in december. that' s when he allegedly stole money that was intended for the owner. simpson' s accused of taking $106, court documents show simpson is accused of using his position as an officer to steal the money. he' s now charged with theft in

s due back in court in april. he is currently suspended without pay. lisa: a rally was held this past weekend for paul gaston and melvin murray, two men killed in confrontations with cincinnati police in district three. members of the group black lives matter cincinnati say they want more answers surrounding the shooting of paul gaston. the group is also asking the department to reopen the death investigation of melvin murray from last september. murray crashed into a tree and died after police tried to stop him. his mother claims police didn' t help while he was dying in his car. >> to see my son' s leg was injured. why didn' t you aid him? why didn' t you help him? answer that, cincinnati police. >> until there' s justice for everybody and until the police are held accountable, we need to stand up and speak out. lisa: cpd' s chief and other city officials maintain police acted properly and according to

mark: ahead of super tuesday, a new poll finds republican frontrunner donald trump still ahead in many states. in georgia, 30% of likely republican primary voters support trump, followed by senators ted cruz and marco rubio tied with 23% each. in tennessee, trump is ahead by a bigger margin with 40%, followed by cruz with 22%. but in texas, home state of senator ted cruz, it is cruz in the lead with 39% of likely republican primary voters. on the democratic side, an nbc poll has found hillary clinton ahead of bernie sanders by at least 20 points in each state. texas, tennessee, and georgia are among a dozen states holding primaries tomorrow. our commitment 2016 coverage continues online. you can check out the latest campaign stops and endorsements and see how the candidates are prepping for super tuesday. it' s all under the politics section of the wlwt mobile app. lisa: back to your forecast on this monday. randi: it was a really nice

unfazed by the winds. if you' re heading out the door, the gusty winds are with us. they will not be here all morning long, but the next couple of hours for sure. as your heading out the door, the winds are dying down but it is a slow process. the cold front passed by just after midnight. by 9:00 and 10:00 a.m., i don' t think we will be quite as windy. temperatures are all over the place this week. from 30' s to 60' s for highs and back again. tomorrow, that is our next chance for maybe stormy weather will stop the potential is there for stronger storms. we will take a timeline for tomorrow' s rain coming up in a couple of minutes. >> tuckers is a genuine place in this community. everyone is welcome at tuckers. they' ve been welcomed there for 70 years and over the rhine has got to have tuckers. mark: enthusiastic volunteers looking to help out an over-the-rhine favorite, tucker' s restaurant. the vine street restaurant was destroyed last summer by a fire, but restaurant owners are looking to bounce back. a fundraiser was held at saint francis seraph school this

i tried sidewalk chalk with the kids and i was the official sidewalk chalk chaser with these winds yesterday. our winter weather roller coaster, you know it goes up and down, sometimes in the course of a day. over the next week, we will see temperatures climb into the 60' s, crash in the 30' s, and go right back again. today, mid-50' s. tomorrow, 60' s and a downturn toward the end of the week. yesterday, we saw mid 60' s. a cold front rolled through overnight. lingering light rain showers in northern portions of hireling county. her most of us, all we are looking at our cloudy skies. the bulk of the rain came during the middle of the night, keeping the winds pumping at about 20 miles per hour and we will continue to have fairly windy conditions for the next several hours. the core of the strongest winds in northeast ohio, but still about 20 mile per hour winds in cincinnati. they died out back for the

lisa: good morning and welcome back. there' s your american flag blowing in the wind. yes, it is a windy day. yesterday at times, very windy. we will check in with randi on the week ahead coming up. we' re checking stories trending this morning. mark: well, apparently, you can teach old dogs new tricks. four shelter dogs rescued from slums and abandoned lots around sao paulo were trained as ball dogs for the brazil open tournament. their job? go get those balls that go out of bounds during the exhibition match and then give them back to the players. they didn' t like the giving back part as much as the getting the ball part. a local shelter hoped to raise

initiative. lisa: a picture of a police deputy and his k-9 has captured the internet' s heart. it shows deputy chase garrett getting a hug from his beloved partner manson. the love between the pair perfectly captured in a single selfie. the two have worked together for the past three years. garrett says he never imagined the response his photo would get, but he likes seeing his faithful partner get so much recognition. mark: a swan stops rush-hour traffic on a bridge in the czech capital. the bird plopped down in the left lane of the prague bridge and refused to move. police blocked the lane where it was sitting to keep it safe. you can see officers puzzling -- puzzled over how to handle the situation. no word yet if the swan got a loitering citation. we' re here all week. it only happens every four years, today is leap day. lisa: it' s a unique day for a baby' s birthday to fall on, they even have a special name, "leaplings." wlwt news 5'

us about how a local leapling celebrating his birthday. kyla: i guess if you' re celebrating once every four years, you should have a name. today, sean davis will turn seven years young -- or 28-years-old, if you want to be technical. he says growing up, he was the guy who never had to worry about what to say when it came time to break the ice. >> you' re in a group of new people and they say stand up, "tell me your name, and then tell me something interesting about yourself." i was like, oh, i got it. i' m sean and i was born on leap day. done. kyla: sean also shared that his family has been very creative with celebrations. they would do a big party for him every four years and even made his siblings follow suit. his wife now celebrates with him on regular years by doing something on february 28 and march 1, calling them his un-birthdays. she said she has something special up her sleeve. he does not know what yet, though.
