we start with the check out the forecast on this tuesday. randi: they say that march comes in like a lion or out like a lamb. let' s take a look at the radar. rain showers in our direction by lunchtime today. right now there moving through st. louis. snow to the north. generally we have this part of the storm. there is some snow to the north. rain and maybe some thunder and lightning into the afternoon hours. i would expect to see the clouds increasing and are temperatures should jump into the low 50' s before the rain rolls in. most places in the upper 30' s at the moment. by lunchtime, most places close

the eastern communities could climb to the mid 50' s. tw roundso on the way today. the system may end as some flurries. we' ll take a look at the timeline. mark: thank you. greater cincinnati rocked by a school shooting. two teenagers shot, two others hurt, a 14-year old boy facing charges. lisa: the four victims all have nonlife-threatening injuries. wlwt news 5' s tammy mutasa spoke with the mother of one of the injured students. tammy: nobody can still believe this horrible shooting happened here. i spoke with katherine doucette who was hurt today and her mom. they' re shaken but thankful and still wondering why? >> the angels were definitely in that school. tammy: the unimaginalbe horror is difficult to relive. >> the most horrifying thing is, how do you get to your children fast enough? tammy: 14-year-old katherine' s doucette showed us where

classmate opened fire in the cafeteria. the terrified football player joined other students under a >> she' happened. she' s gone to madison since kindergarten and she' s known these kids, even the shooter she knows and it' s hard to think that, you know. tammy: that' s the same question jade ilderton has, too, as her mom hugs her tighter tonight. >> why would he do that? why? there was pretty much no reason to do it. tammy: jade says she was in the cafeteria watching the accused shooter, james austin hancock, unload on her friends cameron smith and cooper caffrey. >> scared. i thought i was going to die. i thought he was going to shoot everybody. >> any nightmare where my kids, where kids are hurt or dead is a nightmare to me, so this is right up there. tammy: tonight, no one at

school takes this day for granted. >> to me it' s just hard to believe it' s happening in this community. god had his angels protecting her today. he was definitely around her and he was definitely making sure she wasn' t injured too severely. even the three other children who were hurt. tammy: katherine was still shaken up to talk to us on camera, but she and her mom say they' re praying for everyone in the school, including the accused shooter. reporting in madison township, tammy mutasa, wlwt news 5. lisa: the investigation is underway as to why a 14-year-old boy allegedly opened fire on classmates in the school cafeteria. we know the suspect has been identified as james austin hancock and that he' s on the wrestling team with one of the victims. >> the shooter told us he shot so many times, but we found more casings than that, and it appears it' s a semiautomatic weapon, and when you pull the trigger and you' re 14 years old, maybe you don' t know how many times you' re shooting a weapon,

lisa: he could be in a juvenile court as early as this morning. we have a crew heading there now to get the latest updates on the investigation. as for the two boys who were shot, they are still hospitalized and expected to be ok. two other teens were injured trying to get away. they' re also expected to be ok. the healing and strong emotions are also being felt on another campus last night. many students, parents, and strangers decided to share and help. mark: wlwt news 5' s courtis fuller was at nearby middletown high school with the tremendous show of support last night. >> two prayer vigils held last night. as one speaker said, the community has two choices -- walk in fear or walk in faith. >> my heart breaks. i can' t imagine being the parent of a child that was injured much less the parent of obviously the child that did this. >> there' s a reason that today happened. >> tonight a show of support and

staggered this whole area today. two prayer vigils, one at this church in west middletown. six families here who i' m told were directly impacted. and across town at middletown high school, another church family doing what they say is the most important thing you can do on a night like this, just pray. >> we got a lot of kids who go to our church here at baraca that go to that school out there. man, i tell you, man, it was a scary moment. i mean, not just for what those people went through out there, the families, things of that nature, but just not knowing. >> it just strikes fear in your heart and all over the whole community. they don' t know what could happen at any time. and so i think people just really need to be together to pray and support each other. that' s what people need right now. >> while most of the focus today was on madison junior high school, there was a tense moment

a student was arrested, a gun was found. he was taken into custody without incident. >> i think it' s a heart problem. i think you have to touch the heart. when the heart changes, that' s when things change. someone felt isolated and now truth is they' re going to be isolated. >> pastor ferrell said it would be a struggle for this community to get past this moment. but as a community, they will get past it. reporting in middletown, courtis fuller, wlwt news 5. lisa: madison schools are closed today. many people are sending thoughts to the community including the , archdiocese of cincinnati, they released a statement saying they' re sending their prayers to those touched by monday' s shootings. mark: another local figure

s tragedy. restaurant owner jeff ruby sent out this tweet last night, hoping to help with the healing of the families affected in the shooting. in the tweet he says he would like to host a dinner when the injured students recover. we have ongoing coverage of the school shooting online at wlwt.com and on our wlwt mobile app. you can watch more interviews and see livestreams and photos from the scene. lisa: meanwhile, a gun was found at middletown high school monday, as well. school officials say they found the gun in a locker during a lockdown after the shooting at madison junior senior high. the school district also says students told a teacher about the possible gun at the school. police say a male student was taken into custody. his name hasn' t been released. mark: timeout to check in with randi. randi: we are going to see some rain today. we will be dry through the morning. showers and maybe some thunderstorms in the mix, as well.

american samoa will hold their republican or democratic primaries or caucuses today. lisa: virginia police officer ashley guindon will be laid to rest today. her body was escorted by dozens of police cars and motorcycles monday night to a chapel which is where her funeral service will be held at noon tomorrow. the prince william county officer was shot and killed in the line of duty last saturday. it was guindon' s first day on patrol. she and two other officers were responding to a domestic violence call when accused shooter ronald hamilton fired his gun and shot all three . only guindon died from her injuries. mark: a 14-year-old behind bars this morning in butler county after a school shooting at madison junior senior high school. officials say 14-year-old james hancock opened fire during lunch in the cafeteria just after 11:00 morning. monday two students were shot. two others were injured by shrapnel. hancock is facing charges of

inducing panic and making terrorist threats. the 14-year-old could make his first court appearance this morning. lisa: 36 degrees. we are going to check the forecast. randi: it is march, springtime. we still have some snow in the forecast. rain comes first today. at the moment, clear skies early this morning. the west. rain showers are moving through st. louis heading towards chicago with heavier snow through wisconsin and michigan. it is rain and thunder and lightning. most of the threat remains to the south. the southern and eastern communities have a slight risk for severe weather.

re in the northern fringe, most of the strong storms stay to our south. it will be a much bigger issue for those in the gulf coast states today. it feels like 30. 8:00 a.m., clouds are building in and the temperature close to 40. areas to the west of downtown cincinnati, upper 40' s. areas to the east, mid 50' s before the rain arrives into town. around 50 through the afternoon with a couple of rounds of rain and storm. arriving around lunchtime or so for the downtown area. between 12:00 and 3:00, showers and thunderstorms. an additional line in time for

the suspected shooter has been identified as 14-year-old austin hancock and he is a wrestler. school officials say 14-year-old cooper caffrey is also on the wrestling team. caffrey was shot on monday along with another student, 15-year-old cameron smith. they are both expected to survive. there were also two 14-year-old students hurt. katherine doucette was hit by shrapnel and brant murray was injured. mark: it was an emotional day madison district. dads who just couldn' t believe this happened at their child' s school. >> you see this on the news, all these shootings, and your heart goes out to them, but it' s so different when you are in person watching it. >> it' s going to be hard to get over this. this is something you would have never imagined happened at this school. >> i' m just tired of this insanity that everyone allows to continue. i can'

mark: the alleged shooter, may be in court as soon as this morning. we' ll have more team coverage with the latest details just ahead. lisa: developing news in northern kentucky you saw first on wlwt. a body found in a bracken county creek over the weekend is that of a missing mother. the father of tara turner tells us officials were able to identify her by her tattoos. s body in snag creek yesterday outside foster, kentucky. the mother of three was last seen january 31. >> i broke the news to her this morning and i just got kind of a blank look on her face. she knew her mommy wasn' t coming home and she was hoping for the best. lisa: an autopsy is currently underway. investigators have not released information on how tara died. mark: a fiery crash in fairmount is now ruled a homicide. a neighbor found the car in flames after the driver crashed near the intersection of westwood northern boulevard and

emergency crews found the 21-year-old driver dead inside. police have not released the victim' s name or any possible suspects. lisa: happening today, the jury trial will begin for the man who made national headlines by trying to get a police officer to shoot him. michael wilcox is already serving 18 years in prison for a murder in brown county. he pleaded guilty last month of -- to a murder in elsmere. commonwealth attorney rob sanders is recommending a life sentence. happening today, the ohio department of health is holding a zika virus tabletop exercise in columbus. at the meeting, officials want to ensure the state' s readiness at the local and state levels prior to the 2016 mosquito season, which is usually from may to october. zika virus is primarily transmitted through the bite of an infected mosquito, though some cases have been know to trasmit the disease through sexual intercourse. the virus has also been know to

mark: a new nationwide cnn/orc poll finds donald trump and hillary clinton well ahead of their closest competitors just as the race expands to a national stage. super tuesday is a chance for candidates to get a very large number of delegates to the democratic and republican nominating conventions. 11 states will either vote or caucus. which is why you' ll also hear this called the sec primary, taking that name from the southeast conference, an association of southern universities that may be best known for its football rivalries. the u.s. territory of american samoa will also hold its caucus today. ohio governor john kasich says he thinks trump will dominate today, but kasich looks forward to future primaries. gov. kasich: we' ll do ok, but not great. but this was never our plan. look, we have a campaign plan and then we campaign our plan. and our hope now is -- and our belief -- is that we will go north and you will begin to see things change.

also hold republican caucuses today, but will not actually produce any voting results . with so many delegates to be won or lost during the voting process, super tuesday can reveal which candidates have the best chance at winning their party' s nomination for president. an ohio native and navy seal received the medal of honor monday in washington, d.c. lisa: kyla woods tells us about the brave acts committed by senior chief edward byers, jr. good morning. kyla: the award was indeed well-deserved. edward byers helped rescue an american hostage who was abducted in afghanistan in december, 2012. the white house says byers also served as a human shield during a firefight with militants to safely get dr. dilip joseph out alive. byers is the 11th living service member to be awarded the medal of honor for actions in afghanistan.

with a price. that first seal through the door -- ed' s friend nick -- was grievously wounded. ed is a medic, so on the helo out he stayed with nick helping to perform cpr the entire flight, 40 minutes long. kyla: byers has deployed overseas 11 times with nine combat tours. he grew up in grand rapids, ohio, outside of toledo. >> cincinnati' s certified most accurate forecast. randi: good morning. get ready for a wet second half of the day. most places will be close to 50 degrees as the rain arrives by lunchtime. i would expect the first part of the afternoon, showers and thunderstorms in the mix.

it is scheduled to wrap up in a few minutes along 275. we will keep you updated on your road conditions. lisa: thank you. let' s get a check on some stories trending this morning. mark: bugatti says it' s about to break the record for the fastest car in the world. the french carmaker revealed this new wonder at the geneva motor show. it' s called the chiron, and bugatti promises it to be faster and more powerful than all its previous models. the veyron model was already named the world' s fastest car by guinness in 2013. we still don' t know how fast the chiron can go, but it' s been capped at 260 miles per hour for road use. lisa: a self-driving car being tested by google not ready to go out of testing yet. it apparently struck a public bus on a silicon valley street in california. its a fender-bender that appears to be the first time one of the tech company' s vehicles caused a crash during testing.

responsibility for the collision, which occurred on valentine' s day when one of the lexus suvs it has outfitted with sensors and cameras hit the side of the bus near the company' s headquarters in mountain view, california. no one hurt, according to an accident report google wrote and submitted to the california department of motor vehicles. mark: nasa is investing in the potential revival of supersonic jet travel. the space agency has granted a $20 million contract to lockheed martin to develop a passenger jet that can fly faster than the speed of sound. nasa says the plan is intended to make flying safer, greener, and quieter. the jet would use technology to create a soft thump instead of rattling sonic booms while in flight. lisa: tackling heroin in greater cincinnati. mark: emotional day after a
