a little lighter through indiana and kentucky. you can see pretty consistent flurries across much of ohio. they are fairly light. more of a nuisance than anything, except for one spot where there is a light dusting. a report from wilmington, a light dusting on the ground. northern warren county throbbed clinton county and through northern highland county, these flurries and snow showers go little bit heftier, fairly persistent for the last couple of hours. there could be a light dusting from greenfield to winnsboro. north of 50 in highland county, clinton county, northern warren county, you may be waking up to a light dusting. waking up to cold centers, 25 degrees. the wind came through yesterday evening with the cold front. right now, sitting at 15 mile per hour wind. they are slowly backing down. when it is only 25, it feels like 13. it is a cold start to the day. 8:00, 25 with a windchill of 13.

that morning. brant murray spoke only with wlwt, sharing his account of the scene. he says the shooting was scary, and he still has bullet fragments in his leg. the 13-year-old says he was eating lunch with cameron smith and cooper caffrey when hancock started firing shots. sheriff' s deputies say hancock planned the timing of the resource officer wouldn' t be around. hancock appeared in court unemotional. his attorney entered the knowledge charges, the equivalent of not guilty in adult court. murray says as shots were fired, people started doing what they could to stay alive. >> all of a sudden, the kid stood up and started shooting at us, at our table, hitting two of my friends and then me in the leg. we didn' t know what was happening until i looked over and saw that he had a gun, and then, you know, i saw it and jumped down to the floor and

dan: murray says as soon as they ran from the cafeteria to the choir room. away with his friend. hancock is locked up here at the detention center, facing a slew he' s expected back in court next month. we are live in hamilton, dan griffin, wlwt news 5. mark: thank you. we know now police were first alerted to the shooting by a brave 13-year-old boy named conner. lisa: conner hamrick was as close as you can get to the gunfire without being hit. conner got down and crawled to the nearest exit. once he got outside, he and his friends crossed a playground and ran half a mile away to call 911. >> i got up and started running through the gym. i told everybody to run, that there was someone shooting in the cafeteria. >> he got those kids back to the house. they were safe and he prayed with them. that was his next instinct. he prayed with those kids. lisa: once conner told police about the shooting, he made

was ok. complete coverage online of the shooting suspect' s arraignment and stories from survivors of the shooting. it is all on wlwt.com or the wlwt mobile app for the latest. mark: new this morning, a woman hit by gunfire in west price hill. police say a 25-year-old woman was shot in the leg outside the eagle watch apartments on sunset lane. it happened just before midnight, and we are told there were 15-to-20 shots fired. it' s not clear if she was the intended target, and investigators say she is not cooperating with police. she is expected to be ok. so far, no arrests have been made. lisa: happening today, there could be some traffic delays along columbia parkway as crews remove mud and debris building up near kemper lane. nothing has come over the retaining wall just yet, but two westbound lanes of columbia parkway will be closed this morning so work can be done in that area. the lanes will be closed beginning at 9:00. the work is expected to wrap up before noon. mark: hillary clinton and donald trump left super tuesday as

but there is a sign of spring. several days where it almost feels springlike and my seven of a day forecast, but we have to get to the weekend to see that. as we look at the radar this morning, we are dealing with flurries in the aftermath of yesterday' s rain. on the backside of the system, we have the biggest concentration of flurries and light snow showers along and north of the ohio river, specifically heavy through warren county and clinton county. for most of us, flurries flying through indiana and kentucky. they are more persistent through portions of warren county and clinton county, northern highland county north of 50 and from waynesville to wilmington down toward samantha, you could be waking up to a dusting on the grass this morning. most of us watching flurries fly . they will be with us through the morning commute and move on out and we will wait for the clouds to move out as well. a cold start to the day. right now most places in the mid 20'

with the winds about 50 miles per hour, it feels like the teams outside. this afternoon, the sun will be out. we will make it to the upper 30' s all across greater cincinnati. that is still a good 10 degrees colder than we typically are. there is a warm up on the way, but it is not going to be here today or tomorrow. tomorrow, dealing with another round of snow and eventually, rain. skies clearing out today, a chilly evening tonight. before midnight, clouds roll in and by this time tomorrow morning, some, but not all parts of town, will be dealing with snow showers. it is not very widespread. wherever the band that up, light accumulation. generally, north of the river for that possibility. snowfall totals, not that hefty. a dusting to half-inch. a little heavier north of 75 corridor. dayton, could see upwards of an inch of snow. it won' t be everywhere, but in the spots they get hit with it, potential for slick spots tomorrow morning.

marriott where she was videotaped while getting dressed. she was targeted by a stalker who was able to book a room right next to hers. andrews has given emotional testimony, saying she is traumatized and humiliated. now the defense is going to work in the case. they are claiming the hotel should not pay for a video that was not their fault and did not damage her career. mark: congress is hearing both sides in the fight between apple and the fbi. the house judiciary committee held a hearing on tuesday and heard testimony from fbi director james comey and apple general counsel bruce sewell. comey claimed only apple can help uncover evidence connected to the san bernardino terrorist syed farook. but apple is sticking to its objection, saying a program to help the fbi would put the security of all iphone users at risk. the debate will remain unsettled for now. a san bernardino court hearing is scheduled three weeks from now. closer to home, road rage allegations against a kenton county deputy jailer. lisa: now adam ashcraft is out

s facebook page. lisa: the district' s goal is to make sure kids feel safe as they go back to class today. wlwt news 5' s andrew setters begins our team coverage with what students can expect. andrew, good morning. andrew: after monday' s shooting, a feels very much like the district is easing back into things, getting kids back to school. with the themes of normalcy and support. kids are being encouraged to wear red, a school color. the first of fort for local families was a walk-through that took place last night. the doors to the school were opened and staff was on hand to give parents and students a chance to make the emotional first step back into the school together. this is one school building, housing kids from precancer high school and the district is trying to respond to a wide variety of needs for a wide friday of ages -- pre-k through high school, and the district is trying to respond to a white friday of needs for a wide variety of ages.

s a shooting. lisa: it' s the frantic 911 call we first showed you on monday, the same day the shooting took place at madison junior/senior high school. yesterday, i got the chance to speak personally with that brave young man. his name is connor hamrick. the 13-year-old was as close as you can get to the gunfire in the cafeteria without being hit. conner got down and crawled to the nearest exit, which was the door to the gym. outside, running a half-mile with friends he made that call. , his mother tells me she is thankful for his quick thinking and that he had his cell phone on him. >> so when officers approached the school, they had a better idea of what the situation was. i don' t know if i could have done that, quite honestly. he did a good job >> i brought my phone and it turns out i was really lucky. lisa: lucky may be an understatement. at madison, there is a cell

make america great again. america never stopped being great. mark: down but not out, ohio governor john kasich and ben carson who both vowed to stay in the race for now. lisa: happening today, the university of cincinnati is hosting it' s second community forum following the uc officer-involved shooting death of samuel dubose. at today' s meeting the university' s office of safety and reform will introduce exiger, a new consulting team that will perform a comprehensive review of the uc police department. along with its debut, the team will also hear the community' s thoughts and perspective regarding the ucpd. the forum begin at 5:00 tonight at the tangeman university center on campus. mark: also happening today, streetcar number four is on the move and it' s expected in cincinnati this afternoon. that means there will be a couple of street closings today in over-the-rhine. it' ll take about 90 minutes for the streetcar to be unloaded from a flatbed truck onto the tracks.

right with a tribute to our very own ruth lyons. lisa: you may hear us every year when it' s time to raise money for the ruth lyons children' s fund. but do you know what an icon and true pioneer ruth was? kyla woods is here to tell us about her compliments. kyla: she definitely earned the right for people to call her an icon in our community. ruth lyons was born right here in cincinnati. and her iconic program the 50/50 club ran right here on wlwt from 1949 to 1967. ruth' s signature style of casual and feisty made everyone from her famous guests to her stage crew and band to the viewers at home feel like they had known her for years. she was so popular there was a 3 , to 5 year wait for show tickets. when ruth lyons began her christmas fund for children' s hospital, one of the first donors called in and said that she donated because ruth felt like a friend. and friends help other friends when they' re in need. ruth lyons was truly ahead of her time. and set the stage for so many,
