mark: good morning, everyone. thanks for joining us. i' m mark hayes. lisa cooney has the week off. this morning' s headlines are straight ahead. a happy monday and a mild start to the we. randi: it is monday and there are things to be happy about. look at these temperatures. it is4:30 in the morning and most places in the mid 40' s. one spot, carrollton, 39. most places -- 43 in hamilton. we' re going to hit the 50' s before we get to 10:00 this morning. there are no 30' s or four days in the next seven days. right now we have cloudy skies across greater cincinnati.

high and only 54 the low tonight. about 15 degrees above average tonight. usually we are around 50 with a low of 31. we are not in record-breaking territory but a nice little warm-up that will last throughout the week. cloudy and cool this morning. 4:00, it seems like spring, 65 degrees. mark: thank you. breaking news this morning. north korea is threatening nuclear action, as joint military drills between the u.s. and then got underway today. the hermit kingdom says it will launch an indiscriminate nuclear strike, responding to what it considers aggression on the part of its enemies. state media quotes a national defense spokesman saying that the strike would allow the country' s military might. hillary clinton and bernie sanders squared off in the

debate last night, hosted by cnn. kyla woods gives us a wrap of the night. kyla: mark, the debate took place in flint, michigan, and the lead contamination crisis in the city' s water dominated much of the evening. both candidates called for michigan' s republican governor, rick snyder, to resign or be recalled in the wake of the crisis. clinton and sanders had a sharp exchange over the auto industry bailout just two days ahead of the michigan primary. clinton charged that sanders' vote against the financial industry bailout could have jeopardized funding to restructure america' s car industry. sanders disputed that aggressively and instead criticized clinton for accepting paid speeches to financial industry groups. each candidate agreed, though, when sanders mocked the tone of the republican presidential debates. mr. sanders: you know, we are, if elected president, going to invest a lot of money into mental health. and when you watch these republican debates, you know why we need to invest in that.

differences and we get into vigorous debate about issues. but compare the substance of this debate with what you saw on [applause] kyla: while the debate was going on, bernie sanders was projected the winner of the democratic caucuses in maine, his third win of the weekend. michigan voters go to the polls tomorrow, where 147 democratic delegates are up for grabs. sanders and clinton debate again in just three days in miami. mark? mark: thank you. throughout northern kentucky, polling sites were busy this weekend, with voters ready to let their voices be heard. it was a super saturday at the polls in the bluegrass state. the large voter turnout was unexpected. we talked with supporters of all four remaining gop presidential candidates. but without question, it was one name standing out. >> unbelievable. unbelievable. i' m so happy. and trump did this. he woke everybody up. he did it. thank you, trump. >> voted for ted cruz. >> we' ve got the board of

had dozens of people today switch their party registration today. people, lifelong democrats, are finally tired of the party, and they' re switching, coming on board with the republican brand. mark: donald trump won the kentucky caucus with 36% of the vote. senator ted cruz finished in second. marco rubio came in third place with a two-point lead over ohio governor john kasich. he came in fourth place with 14% of the vote. trump also dominated in louisiana on saturday, while ted cruz won the caucuses in kansas and maine. well, nancy reagan is being remembered for her strength, her intelligence, and as a woman who changed the role of first lady. the 94-year-old died on sunday. across the country nancy reagan was honored. on the campaign trail, ohio governor john kasich, who served in congress during the reagan years, paid tribute to mrs. reagan, while opponent marco rubio fondly recalled meeting the former first lady. mr. kasich: she was an incredible lady. she was very strong and a class act. mr. rubio: i had been invited to speak at the reagan library, which was an incredible honor

am a child of the reagan revolution. mark: in southern california, mourners brought flowers to the reagan library. mrs. reagan will be buried at the library next to her husband. under fire and under investigation. scrutiny over what the commissioners call on accountable waste. dan griffin is leading the way with the meeting set to take it. good morning. dan: the director of the metropolitan sewer district will meet today with hamilton county commissioners to talk about issues with operations and massive upgrade projects. this comes amid allegations that hundreds of millions of dollars without sufficient oversight. hamilton county commissioners said they filed a motion in u.s. district court requesting enforcement of a 2014 court order making the city operate under the msd under the county' s discretion. county commissioners say there' s a long list of issues at hand,

claims without approval of the county and the city' s lack of response to county requests for information for nearly a year. commissioners also say the msd has been charged double the rate the city charges others for work perofrmed by the greater cincinnati water works. >> we' re looking at about a half-billion dollars, billion with a "b", of potential overruns or added expenditures to the ratepayers. >> the county has raised the rates exorbitantly over the last 10 years and it is obvious that it is not justified. dan: last month, mayor john cranley says an independent investigation team was formed to look into the allegations with results expected in about three months. meanwhile he also says most of city council has asked for negotiations. reporting live, dan griffin, wlwt news 5. mark: thank you. time now to check in with randi once again.

the usoc formed an infectious disease advisory group last week to help identify best practices for the mitigation, assessment, and management of the disease. the mosquito-bourne virus has raised several concerns surrounding the 2016 summer olympic games in rio de janeiro, where the disease is prevalent. doctors at the cleveland clinic are set to discuss details about the first uterus transplant performed in the u.s. today. clinic doctors performed the surgery late last month in cleveland on a 26-year-old woman who did not have a uterus. the hospital says the donor uterus came from a woman who had died. other countries have tried womb transplants. sweden reported the first successful birth in 2014, with five healthy babies so far. the end of the peyton manning era in the nfl. he' s going to call it a career after winning the super bowl with the broncos.

for the safe return of an infant they believe may be in the company of a man convicted of but police say there isn' t much they can do. the two do not fit the criteria to be classified as missing, . because of that, we are not showing the photos of the boy. wlwt news 5' s richard chiles spoke with the family. >> i' m sick not knowing where grant is. i' m just in fear for his life. richard: grant wells' baby seat is empty. his toys silent as his family frantically pleads for his return. this lebanon family says grant' s mother took off with the child wednesday and has not been seen since. the pair were last with josh craft, a man convicted of abusing the child and ordered to stay away under a warren county no-contact order. mary and her family say craft is in violation of that order, and 20-month-old grant is in danger. my worst nightmare is that he

this young man has problems. richard: court records show craft was sentenced to 30 days in jail days for abusing grant. the court suspended craft' s sentence and issued a no-contact order, but the order alone isn' t enough for police to intervene. >> i feel very helpless. i can' t imagine what he is going through right now. richard: as the hours go by, a family' s worry is reduced to a simple plea. >> we all love him. we want to protect him. bring him home to us. richard: in lebanon, richard chiles, wlwt news 5. mark: the family says they will appeal for a warren county judge to enforce the court order. a walnut hills man is heading to court today accused of using an ax to threaten someone. court records show jason kuss allegedly told a man he was ready to kill somebody, causing the man to fear for his life. afternoon to face two counts of aggravated menacing. police are still searching for two suspects in a shooting in west price hill this morning. they found the victim sunday

police say the man was shot multiple times in the torso inside the home. they found him in a parking lot on trenton. he was in stable condition during surgery at uc medical . police say the victim is expected to survive. they haven' t released the man' s name, but say he' s in his 30' s. police say neighbors have complained about the home before. >> we did get some neighbors were stating that they' ve called, referencing some suspicious activity, drug activity at the residence. mark: witnesses say two men ran from the home after the gunfire. the spca also removed a dog from the home for its safety during the investigation. if you know anything that can help police, call crimestoppers at 513-352-3040. the state of ohio is now offering money to improve police community relations. the office of criminal justice services is accepting applications for grants. city and state police and government as well as faith groups and non-profits can apply for up to $30,000.
