so it will not be as perfect. you can see the clouds have rolled in this morning. you can see there are rain showers through portions of indiana. they are moving to the north and west. some of the southeastern communities could get nipped by a shower as we go through the day. we are looking for a high around 70 degrees in cincinnati. low 60' s over towards chicago. the steadier rain will be here tomorrow. right now it is a mild 58 degrees. lunchtime, cloudy, breezy, 67. expect a high today around 70. the rain gets closer and closer. we' ll talk about the timeline in a few minutes.

repudiated the polls that had us 20, 25 points down a few days ago, who repudiated the pundits who said that bernie sanders was not going anywhere. mark: the republican race looks tighter now, but the recent anti-trump push did not seem to defeat the republican front-runner. donald trump swept the big michigan primary, also winning in mississippi and hawaii. ted cruz is the projected winner in idaho. he was second in mississippi. mr. trump: we will take many, many people away from the democrats and we will take many, many people away that normally go democrat as independents and we' re seeing that. we' re seeing that. mr. cruz: we' re closing the gap in state after state after state after state. mark: as for marco rubio, it was another bad night, with two and he' s last in the new nbc news/"wall street journal" national poll, with kasich way coming up at 5:30, we' from wlwt' at governor kasich' s primary

we' re just days away now from our own primary here in ohio. kyla: both the democratic and republican presidential candidates will face off for a win that could be the deal-breaker for some candidates, especially ohio governor john kasich. mark: wlwt news 5' s andrew setters tells us how the state is preparing for our own super tuesday. good morning. andrew: good morning. while candidates fight it out for votes, the hamilton county board of elections is trying to find poll workers. and time is running out. if the primaries and caucuses in other states are any indication, hamilton county could see huge voter turnout. contested races on both sides are drawing a lot of interest. but election day doesn' t happen without people to work the polls, and the more poll workers there are, the smoother things tend to go. the hamilton county board of elections is training poll workers this week to work next week, and they' re still looking for 100 democratic party workers and 100 on the republican side, as well. to be a poll worker, you have to

training, but there are a number of classes available still. they are trying to be flexible with the amount of time for the times and location for the classes. mornings, afternoons, and evenings. they are all available. you get a chance to be involved and give democracy a hand. live at the hamilton county board of elections, andrew setters, wlwt news 5. kyla: bernie sanders and hillary clinton are making big pushes in ohio this week. last night, sanders opened up his cincinnati headquarters. it' s along tennessee avenue in paddock hills. volunteers say they are planning a big "get out the vote for bernie" campaign this weekend. former president bill clinton will be campaigning for his wife ll be in columbus, then dayton. the dayton event is sold out, but the columbus afternoon event is not. hillary clinton will be in columbus on sunday for a debate at ohio state university. sanders has not said if he will be there. mark: a teenager is expected to be ok after a train hit him.

near the intersection of pershing avenue and martin luther king jr. boulevard in hamilton. police say it' s not clear why the teenager didn' t hear the train coming. a medical helicopter flew him to the hospital with what police are calling severe lacerations to his head and legs. hamilton police are still interviewing witnesses to figure out what happened. kyla: a sixth-grader facing a criminal charge and punishment from his school after police say he posted a picture of himself holding a gun during an argument online with a classmate. a parent of an amelia middle-school student alerted union township police to the facebook post. the gun in the post turned out to be an airsoft gun, but investigators say students and parents did the right thing. >> it was an immature disagreement for the age that we' re dealing with. it' s definitely something that we' d like to not have these situations, but these situations give us an opportunity to remind s doing.

count of inducing panic. the suspect could also be suspended or expelled from west clermont local schools. mark: a new bill being pushed through the kentucky state house could lessen the punishment for minors and sexting. the idea is to make teeangers accountable without branding them as felons forever. right now in kentucky, teenagers under 18 who engage in sexting can be charged with a felony, then put on a sex offender registry for life. the new bill would reduce a first offense penalty to a misdemeanor. we spoke with one teenager who was the victim of a sexting scandal at her high school. >> it was wrong, but i allowed m the one that sent them multiple times. t mean you have to ruin every chance in life because they made a dumb decision. anyone who is older than 18 years old. kyla: timeout to get a check of

back. 5:12. a gorgeous start to your wednesday. checking today' s headlines, the body of former first lady nancy reagan will lie in repose today. s remains were taken on sunday from her los angeles home to the ronald reagan that' s where she will lie in repose for two days before her funeral on friday. the widow of president ronald reagan died sunday morning of congestive heart failure. she was 94. kyla: this morning the senate judiciary committee will hold a hearing on oversight of the u.s. department of justice. the only witness will be the head of the justice department, attorney general loretta lynch. the judiciary committee maintains oversight over the department of justice. mark: beatles manager george martin has died at age 90.

peacefully at home yesterday evening. martin produced some of the most popular and influential beatles albums of modern times, "sgt. s lonely hearts club band," "revolver," "rubber soul," and "abbey road." he won six grammys and was inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame in 1999. he was also knighted. kyla: new details in the standoff at an orego rancher. prosecutors were looking at the traffic stop in january when state police arrested occupation leaders. the fbi said earlier aerial but in new cell phone video, prosecutors say finicum disobeyed police commands. they also say, he reached for a gun. >> we know without a doubt that the oregon state police troopers who shot mr. finicum did so as they moved to protect themselves and their fellow officers from imminent harm.

him, robert lavoy finicum, in this situation. revealed the fbi fired shots at finicum. agents did not tell investigators that, so the department of justice is now investigating. mark: maryland' s high court has must testify against his colleagues. william porter is awaiting a new trial in the death of freddie gray, who died while in police custody. it' s likely to start this the disagreement over porter' s testimony stopped the other trials. now the five other cases can move forward. kyla: new alarming details on the zika virus. the world health organization now saying the sexual transmission of the virus is more common than previously thought. reports from nine countries shows there' s evidence that a spike in birth defects is caused by zika, which is mostly spread by mosquito bites. here in the states, u.s. health officials are investigating more than a dozen possible cases of zika in people who may have been infected through sex. >> cincinnati'

tonight, and xavier will be in action tomorrow. before the game arrives, the players are staying busy in new york. this is jalen reynolds giving food to a homeless man. xavier says this is a tradition for jalen, and he started it two years ago after x joined the big east. jalen and his teammates will get back on the court tomorrow. they are taking on the winner of the st. johns-marquette game. xavier' s tournament opener is set for 7:00 tomorrow night at madison square garden. kyla: a young man we first introduced you to last spring is now facing a new challenge. 19-year-old logan brinson has an undiagnosed chromosome disorder. despite the immense medical hurdles, he' s spent the last year being an engaging part of the community and touring as an elvis impersonator. last week some medical challenges put him in the hospital. now he' s on life support in critical condition. mark: but he' s hearing the community' s support, thanks to facebook.

late december, investigators say 18-year-old tristan lacy was behind the wheel of his car, driving drunk according to investigators, speeding when he crashed that car on beckett ridge boulevard in the west chester area. his buttock all content level at point 106. parents in this case want teenagers to learn from this. they do not want this to happen again. they say this is something that could happen to any team and they want to make note of this. lacy pleading guilty to aggravated you get a homicide last month. his parents saying this is not an indication of who he was as a person. and that he is certainly a good person, but this is something that could happen to any teenager. he faces from two to eight years depending on what the judge decides. live this morning, then griffin, wlwt news 5. kyla: fire crews responded to a fire at garden street iron and metal on spring grove avenue.

[cheers and applause] john: strength or at least the appearance of it is part of trump' s success so far. how strength is defined by ohioans in the week ahead could be telling for both campaigns. >> i like what other people are saying, about he just seems to be the adult in the room at all occasions. >> but he' s stayed above the fray and stayed focused on the things that matter to us as ohioans and as americans. mr. kasich: and i want you to know i' m going to continue to run a positive campaign and not get down in the gutter and throw mud at anybody. john: kasich has a week. at this point, he can no longer settle for merely building momentum. second place won' t do it for kasich next tuesday, saying ohio must be his firewall if his campaign is to continue.

news 5. kyla: the man suspected of shooting and seriously wounding in idaho pastor last weekend has been arrested by secret service agents. the former marine kyle odom is suspected of shooting the pastor a day after he led the prayer at a campaign rally for republican presidential candidate ted cruz. police say odom was taken into custody tuesday after he allegedly threw items over the fence at the white house. >> initial reports indicate he had thrown several items over the fence of the white house . the initial information i' m receiving is that included flash drives along with some other unknown items. kyla: chief white says the suspect wrote a manifesto listing more than one dozen u.s. lawmakers. officials are not certain how the 30-year-old suspect got to washington, but say police were able to determine he aborted -- boarded a flight at the boise airport sometime on monday. pastor tim remington, shot six times sunday outside his church in idaho, has regained consciousness and is talking with his family.
