believed to be a factor in the crash. ohio governor john kasich is breathing a sigh of relief this morning, winning his first state towards the republican nomination. mark: kasich' s efforts in his home state came to term, when he won decisively against front-runner donald trump last night in ohio. wlwt news 5' s andrew setters is live this morning with where the governor goes from here. good morning. andrew: john kasich planned ohio as his firewall, the make-or-break victory he needed. and it was a decisive victory at that. let' s look at the results. the polls showed ohio as a toss-up going into yesterday, but ohio governor john kasich won by 11 points over donald kasich' it' s a winner-take-all contest. last night, john kasich celebrated in berea, ohio. even during his victory speech he took veiled shots at donald t take the low road to the highest office in the country.

he also picked up wins in north carolina and illinois, while the -- he' s being called the winner in missouri. trump addressed a room full of supporters in florida shortly after early projections were announced. mr. trump: to win the states that we won and to win by the margins and especially, look, this is my second home, florida. to win by that kind of a number is incredible. mark: trump also took time to praise senator marco rubio in his speech. trump congratulated rubio for running a really tough campaign, adding that he has a bright future. lisa: turning to the democrats. hillary clinton had a big night at the polls. clinton beat rival bernie sanders in florida, north carolina, ohio, and illinois. missouri is still pretty close but nbc news is giving the wind to clinton. clintons says she' s confident her campaign is widening its lead over sanders. but he remains optimistic, focusing on his goals and the messages he' s trying to get

the next primaries will be held on march 22. election results in hamilton county were delayed last night after a court order to extend their hours was issued 30 minutes after they had already closed. it was all due to a horrific crash on the combshehl bridge. brian hamrick tells us about the chaos it caused at the board of elections. brian: the polls closed at 7:30. they didn' t get the order until 8:01, 31 minutes after the polls were closed. the genie is already back out of the bottle the board said it' s . impossible to comply with the order. although they say they did their best. they tried to mass contact the polls. it takes time, and many of the poll workers were already packed up and headed home. then there are the polling machines. theyr' e not designed to restart that quickly. >> you cannot relight the

t work that way. brian: anyone who did vote after 7:30 did vote is on a provisional ballot. brian hamrick, wlwt news 5. that' s the feeling many witnesses had after seeing an suv go over a bridge and into the ohio river during rush hour. lisa: investigators say they' ve found the car, but no information has been given about who was inside. wlwt news 5' s dan griffin is live along the combs hehl bridge which connects campbell county with the east side of cincinnati . good morning to you. dan: the bridge was closed for hours as investigators try to reconstruct the scene and searched for the car. this morning, we' re told those search efforts have stopped for now. here' s what we know. during rush hour last night, there was a series of crashes at the combs-hehl bridge. four separate crashes, 12 cars involved. in one of those crashes, a car flew off the bridge and plunged into the river. search-and-rescue teams spent

begins for the norwood man arrested of threatening police with a sword. lisa: 45-year-old anthony hall was arrested back in february after his neighbor called 911 saying that she heard him yelling about setting the building on fire. when officers arrived, hall greeted them armed with a sword. after a brief standoff, he surrendered. he' s being charged with disorderly conduct while intoxicated, inducing panic, and aggravated menacing. mark: let' s check in with kyla. how is the commute moving? kyla: if you' re getting ready to head outside, you should be good to go along the banks right now. here freedom way, they will be doing some concrete work and the sidewalk be closed in that area. so keep that in mind. we will continue to see that throughout the day today. here is a look at the interstate

in downtown kansas city. police used pepper spray on at least two demonstrators as they worked to control the crowds. that meeting begins at 10:00 this morning. lisa: in austin, texas, first lady michelle obama will host a keynote event at the south by southwest music conference. the event entitled "let girls learn" will address the ways students across the country can take action on critical issues like the education adolescent girls. joining the first lady in a group discussion will be special guests missy elliott, sophia bush, and diane warren. academy award nominated actress queen latifah will be moderating. mark: federal reserve chair janet yellen is expected to give remarks following the federal open market committee' s decision on interest rates. during the last meeting held in january, the committee decided to keep federal interest rates the same after having raised them in december of last year. yellen' s remark' s are expected at about 2:30 this afternoon. new details in the case of alleged kalamazoo mass shooter jason dalton.

t call 911 the night her husband came home after allegedly killing six people. the family' s lawyer is now trying to answer that question. attorney paul vlacho says jason dalton told his wife that he was side-swiped by a taxi. dalton also gave his wife a loaded gun and instructed her to stay home and to not call her parents. >> she said to him, i wouldn' t call my parents at this hour anyway. it was about 8:30 at night, and had no reason to call her parents. she didn' t watch the news that night. lisa: john dalton faces 16 criminal charges, including six counts of murder. he will have to undergo a psych evaluation, according to a judge' s orders, after claiming that his uber app took over his body and made him shoot at random targets. mark: problems continue to mount for scandal-ridden automaker volkswagen. a german court says 70 lawsuits have been filed against volkswagen by its investors. this includes a suit filed monday by nearly 300 investors

california-based pension fund. that suit seeks more than $3 billion for losses the investors say they suffered. volkswagen has admitted to installing software on many of its diesel vehicles in order to cheat emissions tests. lisa: amazon has filed a patent to allow customers to pay by selfie. the e-commerce giant recently filed a patent application for a process that would allow to make their purchases by customers taking a photo or video of themselves rather than using a password, which can be easy to forget and dangerous when stolen. the amazon system would ask users to take one photo to prove their identity, and a second photo to prove they' re a physical being by either moving their head, smiling, or blinking. >> cincinnati' s certified most accurate forecast. randi: we are looking at today,

professional kayakers nick troutman and dane jackson plummeted over the cumberland falls. the two men capturing their rides on camera, receiving thousands of views on social media. they say it was a ride that was the result of hours of training and 15 years of the sport for troutman. >> we were super intrigued by the falls. and we went there, scouted it out and set up our safety plan. >> i wouldn' t encourage any bystander just watching to go out and give it a shot. kyla: park rangers say it' s clearly marked, no swimming, wading, or boating. the fine will cost them a couple hundred dollars. troutman says they are disappointed they were cited. they hope to be able to do it again in the future legally. pretty amazing video. mark: i wonder why. because it is there. lisa: it didn' t say no going over the falls in a kayak.

lisa: the recovery effort is underway after the car went over 12-car accident. dan griffin is leading the way with the investigation and what good morning. dan: a shocking scene for people driving yesterday evening. crew spent much of the night searching for the car. they found the red' s uv. it is unclear how many people might have been inside the sc lead come and how many might be dead after the crash. the surge has ended for now. it is not clear what will happen as a investigation moves forward . there were four separate crashes on the combs-hehl bridge purity was closed for hours. and one of the crashes the red suv plunged into the ohio river. they found the as uv at the bottom of the river using sonar after several hours.
