mark hayes is off. cincinnati police and federal authorities say that have now indicted a man in connection to the january 2015 shooting. wlwt news 5' s todd dykes is live at police headquarters, where they just got done with a news conference. to bring us up-to-date. : it looks like -- t odd: the 23 or old man was indicted for possessing the gun that was used to fire at the great american tower last year. police say ray sean herald , who was already serving prison time, for a second case. someone fired a gun a great american tower, 17 shots fired in all. nobody heard the workers in the

the adf used what' s basically a bullet dna database to link herald' s gun to the tower shooting case. >> individuals that want to be in the game on the streets and cause violence in this community , and highlights the extent to which our federal and state partners are willing to go to apprehend an individual. we are not going to forget things that occur a year prior. that caused terror in this community. todd: links between local police and the feds. the county' s corner -- co-owner was here based on this dna bullet evidence.

this case, police say that herald had no motive. they say whether or not he was the shooter will come out in the court case. a lot more to come, but they say s been puzzling for quite some time. reporting live, todd dykes, wlwt news 5. mark: -- lisa: thank you. herald is no stranger to police. he is the same man police say had a shootout nearly a year with another person, in the middle of the day. video of him allegedly firing shots, all while talking on his cell phone, gained national attention, those shots hit a metro bus that was driving by. no one was hurt. new developments -- a butler county mother, charged in connection to the death of her 2-year-old daughter, has agreed to plead guilty. police say rebekah kinner' s boyfriend beat kinsley kinner to death, and she did nothing about it. kinner pled guilty to involuntary manslaughter, child endangerment and permitting child abuse. kinsley father, as well as family were all in a crowded

s hearing. kinner orginally faced up to 25 years in jail . she will be sentenced may 5. right now, a franklin stepmother is due in court, to be arraigned on charges of child endangerment. anna ritchie is accused of severely punishing her 4-year-old step son -- austin. police say she put the boy in a scalding bath. the next morning his father found him dead. austin' s death is being investigated as a homicide. charges could be upgraded. we hope to learn more today on a car that went over the combs hehl bridge and into the ohio river. later this afternoon -- campbell county police will hold a news conference to give another update. wlwt news 5' s brian hamrick is leading the way with more on this story this afternoon. brian: it' s a bizarre mystery that again 112 cars collided on this bridge. one of them was lost into the water nearly 100 feet below.

the victim remains unidentified. people are wondering who this was, and why no one will come forward to report the missing person. they hope to learn more today at a press conference. as to who this person could be. the strong current has prevented recovery crews from getting into out. we hope to learn about when and how they plan to do that. brian hamrick, wlwt news 5. lisa: happening right now -- five horses are dead after a barn fire this morning in butler county. it happened along kyles station road in liberty township and wlwt news 5' s andrew setters is there with the latest. andrew? andrew: the fire destroyed this barn and caused the roof to collapse. we will give you look at it here it smoldered for a while, but the damage has been done. this is video a witness shared with us, showing just how

fire crews arrived to this little they could do. five horses were inside this barn at the time, none of the animals made it out. it sounds as though by the time the fire was spotted the barn was already fully engulfed. could not make any attempt to go inside, they simply sprayed water on it from the outside. at this point, they are working to figure out exactly how this ve called in a we' at this point, it doesn' t appear re going to go through the investigation just to kind of rule out a couple causes, there was electric supplied to the building. the owner, there was people in the barn last night at 11:00, nothing unusual at that time. andrew: the fire chief indicated the five horses that died in the fire may have been rescue animals.

interesting changes on the way as we look to spring. meteorologist randi rico has cincinnati' s most accurate forecast. randi: the last couple of weeks, it' s been nice and mild. we had a taste of spring in the air. according to the calendar, spring officially arrives on of the 30' s. there is a little bit of a winter like chill on the way as we welcome in the new season. today though, get outside and enjoy. taking a live look outside, blue skies over top of downtown. the wind is very light compared what we saw over the last two days. temperatures rebounding nicely up into the 50' s. already 53 degrees at cvg. 50 on the campus of miami university in oxford. nearly 60 and dry ridge. as you had through the next several hours, temperatures will climb to the upper 50' s for most of us, easily hitting the 60' s down and through kentucky. new updated temperature for dry

flirting with 60' as we have been the afternoon. many of you will spend a good amount of time parked in front s ok. in between games, take a walk around the block. at 3:00, 56, 6:00 and 57. rain and big changes for that we can forecast. we take a look at the showers in the forecast for tomorrow coming up in a couple of minutes. lisa: ready, thank you. a developing story out of los angeles after a construction worker fell more than 500 feet to his death, on just his second day on the job. the head of the construction project says the worker was an electrician, who tumbled from the 53rd story of the building. police say the man landed on a car driving by, and the woman driving that car was taken to a local hospital and is in stable condition. project officials would not elaborate if the worker had a harness or who was nearby when he fell. new details -- a stabbing investigation has now turned into a homicide investigation. 56-year-old clifford wagers,

injuries. we told you about this story yesterday. jonathon day was arrested. he was charged with felonious assault. it' s unclear if and when charges would be upgraded. fire crews in campbell county called to fort thomas overnight for a house fire. it broke out around 11:30 last night on rossmore avenue. right now it' s all quiet and doesn' t appear to be any significant damage to the home. we know everyone inside got out safely. no word yet on a cause. there will be a memorial ceremony, for an 18-year-old high school student, who was shot and killed last week. police have not made any arrests, in the death of jaylon knight. he was found shot to death in tonight, jaylon' s mother, serina, is hosting a ceremony, at fairfield high school. it gets started at 5:00. there will also be events next week, honoring jaylon' s life. cleanup underway in mt. airy after a van crashes into an apartment.

morning on west fork road. police are now searching for the driver after they fled from the scene. luckily no one was inside the home at the time. police found a silver side mirror at the scene. if you know anything about this accident, call crime stoppers at 513-352-3040. a girls track coach in brown county resigns suddenly, after being accused of sending inappropriate text messages to students. coach mark day submitted his resignation, monday. day tells us he resigned for family and personal reasons. but we found out an external investigator was hired to look into allegations, of sending improper text messages to students. the school has reported the allegations to the ohio department of education. an explosion rocks a popular zoo, right in the middle of the day. where it happened, and what investigators are saying caused the big blast. donald trump. gop leaders entertaining the idea of a kasich and cruz ticket.

where meeting of political powers, shake up the republican presidential race. leaders met thursday, to talk trump down. the group is led by radio host, erick erickson. a possible unity ticket, ohio governor john kasich. house speaker paul ryan, discussed the possibility of an "open" convention. likely to become an open before, so we' re getting our could very well become a lisa: cnn' conservative leaders did not quote, "because of the egos involved."

another effort to stop the republican frontrunner. liberal groups have a letter urging the party to unite there' hillary clinton super-pac, ripping donald trump. clinton says, she is ready, no matter what happens with the republican race. if he gets nominated, we' re general election if i am the nominee. lisa: donald trump has fired back, saying hillary clinton is an "embarrassment." primary. bernie sanders conceded to hillary clinton. she led senator bernie sanders by less than .5% point after most votes were counted. absentee and provisional ballots t been counted yet. request a recount. but his campaign says he would not do that because he wants to save missouri taxpayers some money. an exhibit at the national zoo in washington, d.c. remains closed after a chemical explosion. officials say a contract worker was performing routine maintenance between the otter and beaver exhibits, when he smelled chlorine. the worker left, then heard a

officials say the explosion occurred in a mechanical building that houses water-processing, filtration, and treatment system equipment. no people or animals were injured. seaworld says it' s putting an end to its killer whale breeding program. 24 whales in three parks will be the last generation of orcas captivity. the change follows sharp criticism of seaworld practices after the release of the documentary "blackfish", and the death of a trainer. seaworld faced protests and declines in attendance and revenue. seaworld will also end killer whale shows. john riley: this is about doing the best things for our whales, our guests, our employees, and seaworld. joel manby: society is changing. and if you look at people' s comfort levels with orcas under human care, i' ve seen a real shift in society. lisa: seaworld officials say the

born there or have spent almost their entire lives being cared for by humans, and they wouldn' t survive in the wild. they' ll live out the rest of their lives in larger tanks in the company' s park habitats. lisa: nine-years after it opened it' s doors in northern kentucky, the creation museum, is ready to expand. the museum is looking to rezone several acres of land at its facility in petersburg kentucky. museum officials say, they could spend $15-million to expand parking, and build a new facility, for additional exhibits. these plans are coming together as work continues on the massive "ark encounter" project. ken ham: the economic impact for the ark and museum combined is that over the next 10 years it will have a $4 billion dollar impact on the state and up to 20,000 jobs generated. lisa: the creation museum is still going thru the zoning process. no word if and when the proposed expansion will be approved. a community which encourages free range chickens, as well as free range kids, is popping up

dip into the weekend. today, a good bit of sunshine with cooler weather on the way. as you head through the afternoon, plan on temperatures near 60. starting out this lunch hour with mostly clears skies, a few high clouds around. that will be changing as we head toward sunset tonight. there' s a system across the center part of the country that' s rolling some range of misery. can see that change over to snow towards kansas city. as the system moves in, for most of us it' s a rainy scenario. in a couple of spots, you may see a couple of flakes of snow mixing in. in mind. i said the word snow. but it has been pretty mild, so if window the north rest at 10 miles per hour. -- wind out of the northwest at 10 miles per hour. 2:00, 56, 5:00, 58. as we head toward sunset and after, expected to be a fairly cloudy night ahead. we did down to the upper 30' s

futurecast shows right after sunset, here come the clouds. by john tomorrow morning, spotty showers moving in. as you go through the day tomorrow, expect rain showers. temperatures make it up into the 40' s in the afternoon. you can see futurecast keeping some snow shower possibilities a little farther to the north and northwest. if you' re closer to dayton or wilmington, there' s a decent shot you will see some snow mixing in with the rain showers. by a large, upper 40' s tomorrow afternoon. most of us just see rain showers. that system slides out saturday night, sunday will be the better day of the two weekend days. temperatures start in the 40' s, but sunday look stride. today, 58, mostly comfortable. tonight, clouds moved in and we did down to 38. tomorrow during the day, we started 38, make it to 45. cloudy and cool, passing showers. most of us keep it in the rain variety.
