tonight, there has been confirmation that former baltimore raven quarterback steve mcnair was murdered. but police in tennessee are still not sure about the death of a 20-year-old woman who was found with him. good evening, i'm christian schaefer. a lot of new developments, but we begin with breaking news. a light rail train killed one. >> reporter: this is very much an active investigation, especially after one of the victims died. officials don't know which

train may have struck the two. shortly before 3:15 this afternoon, two males believed to be teenagers were found lying in between the southbound light rail tracks near the lutherville, light rail station. one of the males was pronounced dead shortly after arriving to the hospital. the other was in shock trauma in serious condition. >> two bodies laying on the southbound track. they immediately alerted our operations control center, and also stopped the train. this happened south of the lutherville station. >> reporter: they say right now, they're inspecting every train, and combing the tracks. so far, have no clue on how those two victims were struck. >> we're fairly confident, they were not passengers.

none of our operators report any. >> reporter: one passenger riding a train around the same time of the incident, recalls hearing a loud thump. >> we didn't know there was anybody on the southbound tracks. but we knew they hit somebody. we ride it every day, it was clear-cut they hit somebody. >> reporter: now the light rail system is back up and running after a brief delay earlier this afternoon, while that investigation was underway. meanwhile, the victim's names have not been released. investigators say they're waiting to contact their family. reporting live, abc2 news. now to the murder of steve mcnair. at a news conference, a policeman said the former raven, and tennessee titan was shot four times, twice in the head. this is how baltimore fans will

remember steve mcnair, leading the ravens to a 13-3 finish in 2006. but his life ended here at a condominium in nashville. autopsies on mcnair, and the woman he was found with, sahel kazemi were found sunday. mcnair and kazemi had been dating for a couple months. >> it was clear his death was a homicide, as the result of being shot four times. the police department is not yet classifying miss kazemi's death. >> reporter: there are more interviews whether her death can be revealed as a suicide, or if a third person shot mcnair and kazemi. a semi automatic pistol was

found underneath kazemi's body. friday night, mcnair was spotted out at two bars in downtown nashville. >> we'll be talking to the staff and management, about what he did there, what conversations they may have overheard. who he talked to, that kind of thing. >> fans we spoke with, are still shocked by the news, especially by the suddenness of steve mcnair's death. >> it's shocking when you hear any sports celebrity pass away, especially in the way he did. >> i was very shocked to hear that. we don't know the whole story yet, but it's really sad with the suicide part. >> more reaction coming in. samari rolle said losing him didn't make any sense.

the ravens general manager called steve mcnair quote one of the best players in the nfl over the last 20 years, and new york jets coach, rex ryan said as great of a player he was, it was more of an honor to know him in person. two teenagers are recovering from stabbed wounds after a fight in downtown baltimore. it happened at 11:00 at night in charles streets. the men were not coming from the fireworks display. a 14-year-old in good condition. police arrested 33-year-old derrick thornton at the scene, and charged him with attempted murder. marian barry has been arrested in charges of stalking a woman. police said barry was arrested yesterday, after a woman flagged down an officer, and complained barry had been stalking her. he had not made any comments

about the situation. he is now 73 years old. he was caught smoking cocaine in an fbi sting in 1990. he served six months in prison, and became mayor again back in 1994. the clouds came in full force. not quite the day we had yesterday for the fourth. temperatures are in the low 70s across maryland. 71 in glen burnie. 70 is the current temperature in arnold. we did see a few showers today. they were mostly concentrated in southern maryland, and are all moving out of the area. a gorgeous forecast to talk about for tomorrow. i'll have the details on that forecast, coming up in just a bit. this morning, bethel church held its first sunday service, since a devastating fire last week. a lightning strike wednesday night destroyed the church's steeple. brendan gordon reports, the

faithful won't let that fire keep their spirits down much. >> reporter: the theme of the day? the fires that burn inside of all of us. >> god will be with you in the midst of a fire. tell him we're fireproof. >> reporter: just days after the fire, the church family is indeed fireproof. on wednesday, lightning struck the steeple of the church, and started a two-alarm fire. the blaze ruined the steeple, but thankfully did not touch the sanctuary, or the church office. today's message was the theme fire. and personal fired experienced by everyone in the congregation. >> there is a fire in everybody's house. if you're in between fires, keep on living.

county tonight. two people are dead after a fire in upper marlboro. the flames were so intense that firefighters couldn't go into the building, even though neighbors told them two people were trapped inside. a third man has died after a truck load of fireworks exploded in eastern carolina. this happened yesterday in greenville. workers were unloading the struck for a 4th of july display, when the fireworks exploded. baltimore's fireworks spectacular went off safely last night, thrilling thousands of people around the inner harbor. they put it together every year, there was an increased police presence at this year's show, trying to ensure the celebration was a safe one.

amazes season here in baltimore. but in nashville, he's a hero, leading the titans to within a yard of a super bowl title. now fans are mourning his death. out of his restaurant, fans made a makeshift memorial, remembering mcnair. nashville police updated the media today, detailing what sounded like a gruesome crime spree. >> autopsies were performed today, as a result of the autopsies, we know steve mcnair was shot four times, twice in the head, and twice in the chest. miss kazemi was shot one time in the head. at the scene, a semi automatic pistol was recovered from underneath miss kazemi's body. >> police saying they're not classifying kazemi's death. mcnair is just a year removed

tony stewart had a wild ride last night in the coca- cola 400. locked by kyle busch. puts him in the wall. stewart would go on and take the checkered flag. his second win of the season. busch gets rear ended by kasey kahne. he would land on his front windshield. busch was okay. clearly not happy. stewart actually apologized for what happened. but he retains the points lead. tiger woods is tied for the lead in today's final round for the congressional. that is not good for the field. he is 45-3, when he has at least a share of the lead. but he ain't scared. rolls in the birdie put. anthony kim did play a little scared. he started the day in a tie, but struggled. finishing 10 under par. mayhan. dialed in.
