view from catonsville, 65 degrees, a light wind from the north that will turn to the northeast. that will help to pile in more clouds. that will help to lock down our temperatures. 65 in catonsville, that's an ano, anomaly because most of us outside the beltway in the 50s. including the airport. we increase the clouds this afternoon. that comes with a breeze. our two-degree guarantee of only 78 but pleasant today. 5:31. let's check the roads with kim. >> we have a couple of incidents working the beltway now. outer loop past wilkens avenue that earlier crash still has the two right lanes blocked. you will see police activity out there. traffic does slow from about frederick road. earlier crash on the inner loop approaching liberty road has been moved over to the right shoulder. it shouldn't cause delays at this time. we have emergency road work going on, on the on-ramp from southbound camp meet road to the -- camp meade road to the inner loop, there's a sinkhole. don't expect to use that on-ramp for probably the next several hours.

95 southbound approaching whitemarsh boulevard, traffic running smoothly at this time and this traffic report brought to you by, baltimore us a country for the -- baltimore's country for the work day. listen to music from stars like taylor swift, kenny chesney and keith urban. no doubt about it, everyone has their favorite restaurant, a place where they like to go. for many in pikesville, a place called suburban house is where we find cheryl conner telling us how owners there are vowing to rebuild after a fire. >> reporter: that's what the owner tells us. families are used to coming here to the suburban house for matza ball soup and its friendly atmosphere but now when they pass the restaurant on reisterstown road they will see this, the windows boarded up, charred rubble all caused by heavy fire. that fire was reported yesterday evening around 5:00. it was put out about 30 minutes later. still it left behind heavy damage. a longtime employee was inside the restaurant when firefighters say someone heard

a pop coming from the storage room that contained restaurant equipment. she called the fire department, helped evacuate 34 customers and employees. many people here in pikesville consider this restaurant a home away from home. >> i hope and pray to god they can rebuild this and keep these people working because that's all this community has. >> i used to come here with my grandfather, a bunch of times. >> it's sad. sad. a lot of people depend on us. >> reporter: they certainly do. the owner, you heard from there, mike horowitz promised to rebuild the restaurant that has been there since the 1950s. he tells us an electrical short is to plame for yesterday's fire but investigators have yet to determine an exact cause. live in pikesville, cheryl conner, abc2 news. baltimore county police have taken over the investigation into the crash that killed two teenagers this

weekend. meanwhile the father and soon-to-be stepfather wants answers. officials mounted a camera on the front of the light rail. they say the train hit the two teens from behind as they walked on the tracks in lutherville. the train continued on, and then got hit by a second train which did eventually stop. gary peterson says this doesn't make sense. >> my question is, if the cameras picked it up why didn't the driver pick it up? i don't think it's -- something's not right. >> both train operators are off-duty pending the outcome of the investigation. the mta has reached out to both the ntsb and federal transit administration officials to help reconstruct how this whole thing happened. the latest now on the closing of towson catholic. the archdiocese says they will meet with parents next tuesday to discuss the options for

their students. yet teachers were -- yesterday, teachers were officially notified the 86-year-old high school will be closed. the archdiocese says enrollment dropped by a third from last year and the school is already running a deficit. and students and parents say towson catholic was more than just a school to them but a family and they want the archdiocese to reconsider closing it. a spokesman says that other catholic high schools will be encouraged to take towson catholic students at the same tuition rate for at least one year. time now 5:35. let's see what's happening today. july 9th. governor martin o'malley will be at a swine flu preparedness meeting. a panel will be with federal officials today in bethesda. the ambassador theet err and art deco-style building in west baltimore will be offered today by brokers in baltimore. a common mistake made by drivers everyday. checking tire pressure in your

motive. these types of shootings, we hear about it a lot in baltimore city. now they are saying enough is enough. neighbors are tired of dealing with it. sherrie johnson joins us with details on how you can help city officials walk for the crimeout today. >> reporter: on a breezy summer evening baltimore police and citizens in the carrollton ridge community hit the streets to fight against crime. the citizens on patrol walk comes after 5-year-old raven wyatt was shot in the head last week while walking back from a store. the community is outraged and wants to take back their streets. neighbors and police teamed up for the citizens on patrol walk hoping to make a change and stop the violence. >> we got to face it, baltimore city police can't do it no more by themselves. they have to have community help. we get information, we either get them from the walkers or as we walk down, somebody wants to talk. at that point i'll stop the walk. let that individual talk to the officer. i don't need to know what is being said. as long as that officer is

helping that individual, i'm happy. >> reporter: police arrested 17-year-old lamont davis for shooting little raven. he's charged with attempted murder. tell us what you think about this situation by logging on to abc2news.com. we would like to hear your thoughts and comments about crime and what is being done about it. 5:46. let's look at the other stories. today the family of murdered nfl star steve mcnair will hold a memorial service in nashville. we're also learning more about mcnair's murder. police say it was indeed a murder/suicide. investigators say 20-year-old sahel kazemi shot mcnair four times as he dozed off on the sofa. this happened on saturday. she then turned the gun on herself. steve mcnair's funeral takes place saturday in his hometown in mississippi. a promise to rebuild after a fire nearly destroyed a neighborhood landmark. yesterday just before 5:00 the suburban house restaurant in

the 900 block of reisterstown road caught on fire. firefighters say it started when an employee heard a pop coming from a storage room. the official cause of this fire is still under investigation right now though the owner does suspect that it could have been electrical. baltimore mayor sheila dixon among those reacting to the major developments in the city's federal lawsuit against wells fargo. a u.s. district court judge denied wells fargo's motion to dismiss the case. baltimore city is accusing the mortgage giant of unfairly targeting minority borrowers, setting them up with loans that were destined to fail. >> hopefully, as a result of our lawsuit, with the 10s of millions of collars we're losing we'll help to come back and stabilize neighborhoods and families that have been in foreclosure. this is a great move and some good evidence - >> we'll continue to follow this story. the next court date is scheduled for july 20th.

gas prices may be lower these days but still high enough many of us are looking to get the best mileage possible. it's no secret that proper tire inflation certainly plays a huge role. it's also important because it keeps you safe. joce sterman has tips to keep you from driving into danger. >> reporter: roxy babies her new suv, keeps it spotless, in top shape. when it comes to one piece of maintenance she simply spins her wheels. >> i don't check my tire pressure regularly. >> reporter: in fact roxy says she can't even remember the last time she pumped up the pressure. >> i just don't make the time for it. >> reporter: despite safety campaigns pushing proper inflation, drivers are actually getting more complaisents about their -- complacent about their tires. during a recent survey only 55% of drivers reported checking their tires in the prior month, that is down from 70% over the same time last year. >> this is a very critical safety concern. >> reporter: low pressure can lead to poor handling, even

tire failure. the national highway traffic safety administration warns underinflated tires causes 660 deaths and 33,000 injuries on the road each year. >> i wasn't aware it was that much of an issue. >> reporter: not just safety at stake. it can lead to quicker tire wear and you'll pay at the pump, too. >> when your tires are underinflated you're essentially putting more rubber and friction on the road and you'll burn more gas. >> reporter: a growing number of cars are equipped with pressure monitoring systems and will be in vehicles starting next year but don't think they will get you off the hook. >> aaa has concern when they become standard motorists will pay even less attention to their tires. >> reporter: a bad move since the systems don't alert you until pressure drops by 25%. >> just like when the engine oil light comes on that is the time when you may have a serious oil problem. same with the tire pressure monitoring system. >> reporter: to prevent problems aaa says weekly tire checks are best but monthly is ok.

this is important to find the right pressure, check your owner's manual or the decal on the driver's side door jam, contrary to popular belief. >> motorists should never use what is moatded into the tire sidewall because that is what the tire needs for its maximum load capacity. >> reporter: we asked roxy to check her pressure. she was shocked to find all four of her tires were underinflated. >> i need to put some air in my tires. >> reporter: joce sterman, abc2 news. >> when you're checking tire pressure the experts do caution to use your own tire gauge. don't use the one that is attached to the air machine at the gas station or the service center. they may be out of calibration and not give you the accurate reading. 5:50. check out the wide range of temperatures just in baltimore county. ryderwood elementary school bottoming the list -- on the top of the list here but bottoming of the monitor at 58
