cloudy we'll likely have a brand new record low tomorrow morning. more on that coming up. 6:31. kim brown has a check of the roads. >> thank you. we have traffic building and minor slowing on the outer loop, that is going to be between libbed rote and edmondson avenue. however, there's still a large piece of wood in the road, at the inner loop near the security boulevard exit. use caution there. still dealing with a couple of crashes, howard street and 211st street in the -- 21st street in the city, anne arundel county. and another piece of wood in the roadway, route 29 at the route 70 off-ramp. this is 95 southbound headed through howard county at route 32. we've got a lot of bright sunshine there. traffic seems to be flowing freely at this time. back to you. what happens when the area is completely surrounded and the shooter does not come out with his hands up? >> this started yesterday on the almeida and hasn't stopped. abc2 news sherrie johnson has more on what is going on in northeast baltimore this morning. >> reporter: yes, this morning baltimore city police are searching for a suspect

after a four-hour barricade came up empty yesterday. officers locked down part of the 3,000 block of the almeida at east 29th street in northeast baltimore. they looked for the man they say killed another man just a block away. the murder victim has not yet been identified but police say he was shot several times. police brought in three people for questioning but still came up empty. police, armored vehicles and s.w.a.t. teams filled the area leaving many neighbors confused and upset by the violence. >> ( indiscernible ) >> reporter: the police consider the suspect armed and dangerous. officers say it shouldn't be too long before they bring him to justice. we'll be in touch with officers throughout the morning to bring you the latest information. sherrie johnson, abc2 news. another sign of the tough times -- baltimore city firefighters are appealing for basic items to make their firehouses livable. after a tour of several stations in the city, city council president stephanie rawlings-blake decided to

launch a collection drive called "jeannie in july" giving people a chance to donate necessities to firefighters so they can have their historic living quarters stay the same. >> right now times are lean and so we don't have as much funding to replace items in the station like these items that the firefighters are asking for. >> so the wish list now includes items such as plates, dishes, window air conditioning units and hand towels. if you would like to see a full list, if you would like to help, we've put it on abc2news.com. when you get there, look for a link that reads "jeannie in july" web site. firefighters in houston could be in a lot of trouble for a hazing of a rookie firefighter and now the video has made it to the internet. they show rookies in the houston fire department being doused with water and whipped around in chairs. other firefighters can be seen around them laughing. a retired firefighter says this has been going on for years and used to be much worse.

of us ravens fans. baltimore ravens best receiver says he's gone. that and more. i know. jamie's jaw - >> i have nobody to talk to. that's it. we got to figure that out. maryland's most powerful doppler radar. >> throw it to him. >> justin berk. >> >> what am i going to do with the factsy football team this year? >> good morning. we take you back to the coldest spot we can find in maryland, in garrett county. bennet road elementary school in oakland, 45 degrees. that is back in the mountains, right? let's check locally. umbc in catonsville, 64. beltway, milder, and the sun coming up is going to warm things up in a hurry but look at the wind, northwest at 8. that is a constant flow of cool air and yes, out of the northwest. the split between the mid-60s between the beltway and the bay versus the 40s in the mountains. most of us down in the 50-degree category. ellicott city now 54. live update on the screen.

54 in towson. back up to 61 in churchville. overall we have a cool morning, sitting at 60 at bwi marshall. we'll probably get the new update at the top of the hour and maybe between hours dropping a mark below that. but overall near road low, the source of cool air will keep us comfortable in afternoon. clouds not likely to build until tomorrow night. and thursday. but today mostly sunny and 86. tonight, a record low back to 55. the low mark waset 10 years ago at 57. we have volume on the outer loop between harford road and providence road but no delays to let you know about at this time. the debris in the road still there at the inner loop near the security boulevard exit. use caution there. there's showing as a result of that. still working crashes in the city, howard street at 21st street and north charles street at witherspoon. another piece of debris in the roadway, route 29 northbound at the route 70 off-ramp. definitely use caution if you travel there. taking a quick look now, 695 at

the bw parkway. we have a little bit of building volume, that is going to be in the southbound lanes which is on the far side of the shot but no delays at this time. back to you. >> thank you. 6:46. one man dead this morning. police are still looking for a suspect who got away after a four-hour standoff. >> sherrie johnson has the latest on the investigation. >> reporter: we just called the baltimore city police department. still no sign of the suspect who shot and killed another man in northeast baltimore. a search is still underway to find the gunman after a four-hour barricade came up empty. this started yesterday about 3:00. officers locked down part of the 3000 block of the almeida at east 29th street. they looked for the man they say killed another man just a block away. officers brought in the s.w.a.t. team, k-9 unit and armored vehicles to help catch the suspect. the murder victim has not yet been identified but police say he was shot several times and police brought in three people for questioning but still came up with nothing.

>> then ultimately did two sweeps into the house. we were not able to find the suspect. >> reporter: authorities do not have a motive for this shooting. police consider the suspect armed and dangerous. sherrie johnson, abc2 news. police are looking for the person who shot and killed a woman early this morning in fells point in the southeast area of the city. sources tell our overnight photographer pete "on the street" o'neal that she was found laying in the middle of the street, register street off of eastern avenue around 3:00 this morning. witnesses tell police that they saw a white or light-colored cadillac fleeing the scene but still have no suspects as of now. if you think texting and driving is bad listen to this next story. a passenger in montgomery county took pictures of a bus driver reading a book behind the wheel. the passenger says the operator was shifting her eyes between the book and the road. veering in and out of lanes for an entire 20-minute ride. county spokesperson says the

bus driver is now on the job but not driving buses. southwest airlines has been busy overnight inspecting nearly 200 of its aircraft. after a mid-air emergency for a flight bound for baltimore. the 737 was headed to bwi marshall airport from nashville yesterday afternoon. but take a look for yourself, a football-sized hole opened up in the body of the plane causing a loss of cabin pressure. passengers in the back of the jet could actually see outside through the hole! the flight had to make an emergency landing in west virginia but all 131 people on board were ok. still not clear is to what caused the damage in southwest now. has been inspecting all of its 737s overnight as the precaution. an airline spokeswoman says flights this morning and beyond should not be affected but just to be safe abc2 is working for you. we've provided a link to bwi marshall's web site and a listing of just the southwest airline flights and their status this morning.

we do see one flight to chicago that has been cancelled but no word yet if that is connected to the inspections overnight. click on the links tab at the top of the home page. less than two weeks to go before the ravens report to westminster and we get a hit like this. after working at owings mills yesterday derrick mason, the best receiver in team history, walked away. and then walked away! the ravens said he never said a word. then word popped up on a web site. that mason was retiring. he said he was emotionally upset over losing his friend and former teammate steve mcnair, but the ravens say that mason hasn't filled out the required nfl paperwork so this isn't finished yet. here's derrick mason. >> if i do change my mind it won't be because of the ravens. i think it will be because of some other things. my family, in talking with other people. and then talking, you know, i still got to talk with coaches over there.

but i don't think as far as financially they can do anything to kind of sway me. >> if mason holds on to retirement the ravens have to scramble to find a number one target for joe flacco. that would be mark clayton. that's ther to rob carlin will be working on today at owings mills. we could know by the end of the week exactly what killed michael jackson. a los angeles coroner's official says that some toxicology results are in but they are still awaiting results for remaining ones before making an announcement. investigators are looking into whether the king of pop consumed a large amount of prescription medication. and in the meantime remember, there's going to be a special for the jackson interview with the family, talking about michael's death. called "family secrets, the jacksons after michael," tonight at 10:00 on abc2. students in towson catholic high school and their parents are going to be meeting with the archdiocese tonight to discuss the school closing. families have been told to find another school but towson catholic supporters are

fighting to keep the school open. the archdiocese says it needs to close because of massive debt and falling enrollment the meeting is tonight at 7:00. this is the first time trash collection crews work under their new schedule. a plan called one-plus-one. it's supposed to save money, increase recycling. crews will collect regular trash once a week, recyclables once a week. the new schedule will also result in stepped up enforcement of violations like putting trash out on the street and not into trash cans. so if you put your trash out on the wrong day for the next three months you'll get a warning and after that you're going to get a fine. baltimore city council has rushed through legislation designating more than half of the city a recovery zone. the legislation voted monday was needed before the city could hand out about $50 million in bonds for development projects. a lawyer for the pennsylvania day camp for kids says that the club's board must resign before the camp accepts an offer to return to the pool. we're talking about the valley

club. it's near philadelphia and it's been in the news because it's facing a federal lawsuit. accused of racial discrimination against the children involved in the summer camp program. the swim club abruptly cancelled their memberships citing overcrowding and safety concerns. but the children who are african-american and hispanic reported hearing racial comments just days before the swim club told the camp organizers they were no longer welcome. the naacp has launched a new program that lets you use your cell phone to report incidents of police misconduct. the rapid response system allows people who capture photos or maybe video of incidents on their cell phones to send it through a web browser through an organization or maybe upload it through a computer. the form will then be transmitted to the sender to provide more information about the incident. a new and tech savvy way to sell your home. a homeowner in colorado is turning to twitter to change his for-sale sign to sold. the sign outside also reads "follow me on twitter."

you can get updates about the house as well as check out pictures and you can tweet to get more information. >> i'm a wannabe computer geek. twitter is very new for me but i see it everywhere. i think this could be a really good way to market. >> the asking price for this home? $2.3 million. but the owner is hoping his unique sales technique will create a buzz. how about sell it for $150,000? that would create a buzz. these tough times have reportedly hit a maryland-based media company. hunt valley sinclair broadcasting which owns 58 television stations across the country including baltimore's fox affiliate wbff says it may consider filing for chapter 11 protection if the company is unable to pay off its debt. the company officials cite the dwindling ad revenue. we are number two according to the "u.s. news & world report." baltimore ranks number two among the top 50 cities for

u.s. job postings. charm city had 90 job postings per 1,000 residents. u.s. news and world report says baltimore is helped by the industries in health care as well as higher education. washington topped the list. in eldersburg, you're living in one of the best places to live in the country. the carroll county town cracked "money" magazine's list of the 100 best places to live. came in at number 47. why? jobs are available, crime is low, schools are good, housing is affordable. guess who came in at number 53? anybody? mount airy! at number 53. 6:54. why not head to mount airy, western howard county? at least that border between carroll -- how does that happen? mount airy is in three
