>> 5:29. we start with the weather conditions in detroit, michigan. >> aha. >> did i get it right this time? >> yeah. >> detroit right now 63 degrees. we mention that because that is going to be the home airport for the pringle/carlin wedding party. 63 degrees. they've had seven inches of rain so far, pretty much a summer without a summer across the great lakes. they may get some heat this week, most of the week with spotty passing showers and maybe we can squeeze out a nice friday for them. locally, baltimore, 74 degrees, feeling like 78 across the inner harbor. we have a little bit of a heat wave coming up as temperatures will be pushing 90 for a couple of days. july right now on maryland's most powerful doppler radar, big difference from where we were this time yesterday. with big storms erupting but today most of the day storm-free. just an isolated storm popping up with the heat and humidity as this afternoon's two-degree guaranteed high reaches 89. 5:30 on the clock. let's see what's happening on the roads with kim brown. >> thank you. good morning. just getting word of a crash

actually inside of druid hill park, that is greenspring avenue at dear pin lane. police and tow truck are on scene. also, on the outer loop at loch raven boulevard, getting reports of an object in the roadway. definitely use caution. in the pasadena area, bedford road between grenada and clover hill closed. use geneva as an alternate. in elkton, cecil county, route 7 at crestwell avenue closed because of flooding there. looking at the cameras, jfx at west 41st street, you can see traffic light in both directions. at the bw parkway and the beltway, we'll have building volume as you make your way southbound but traffic appears to be flowing smoothly at this time. this traffic report brought to you by baltimore's country station 93.1 wpoc, best country for the work day with music from stars like taylor swift, kenny chesney and keith urban. back to you. 5:31. the fate of that cash for clunkers program is going to be decided as the senate meets for a final week before the summer

break. adding to $2 billion to the basically broke program got the green light from the white house this week. the administration says it will have to suspend the wildly popular rebate program unless the senate goes along but it's not a sure thing. we'll keep you posted. you better run for the hills. there are whispers of a middle class tax hike this morning. the obama administration is dealing with this growing deficit and treasury secretary tim geithner says for the economy to grow over the long term the administration will have to bring those deficits down while national economic council director larry summers says funding for health care overhaul will have to come from somewhere. in news making headlines around the world -- at least 10 people are dead including two policemen in western afghanistan after a bombing happened there. a remote control bomb hidden in a trash can exploded in the crowded street near a fruit market. the attack comes as of a ganz gear up for -- afghans gear

up for the presidential election there and the country battles a raging taliban insurgency. thousands of people have been turning out in manila to pay tribute. supporters wore yellow, aquino's favorite color. she died in the hospital after colon cancer. she was 76 years old. kevin costner and a band over the weekend were getting ready to perform when the stage caved in. one person was killed, 75 others were injured in the accident saturday. costner was caught under the stage but was able to wiggle his way out. a dangerous waste being dumped by a plant in south africa which manufacturers blue jeans for american consumers. gap and levi are both investigating the alleged dumping at this plant. a months long investigation found illegally dumped razors

and needles have been found. on this monday we're talking about more murders. a stabbing and a shooting. >> and more people who try to make it through the day alive are going to hit the streets today. abc2 news sherrie johnson with the details of a rally to stop the violence. >> reporter: good morning. it was another violent weekend in the city of baltimore and today community leaders are holding a rally to fight against crime. last sunday 18 people were shot in five different incidents and this weekend more violence. on saturday police say someone walked into an auto store in the 2100 block of edmondson avenue and shot a man in the back of the head. he's in critical condition. also on saturday a teen was stabbed to death on north paca street. a suspect was caught just a little while later. on sunday police say an unknown person pulled out a gun in the 800 block of allendale street and opened fire. an 18-year-old man was shot in the back and died at shock trauma. a 47-year-old man is recovering after a shooting near the

clean-up continues this morning in carroll and frederick counties after three tornadoes touched down there on friday. it was the worst damage this town -- this area, rather, has seen in more than a decade. heavy rain, high winds. especially around finksburg. that area. the storm left a mile of

destruction. luckily no one was seriously hurt in the storm. a lot of clean-up going on. let's finds out more about it with justin berk. >> good morning. 5:40. our wake-up window at the bottom of the screen. big storms blew through, unfortunately they touched down with an ef rating average of 1, over 100 mile-per-hour winds. rough weather but we've calmed down a little after the rough weather we had yesterday as well. check out ocean city. the largest fishing tournament in the world, white marlin opens up this morning. they are getting out there with prize values close to $1 million. last year's winning white marlin fish, 81 pounds. the blue marlin came in at almost a thousand pounds and brought in $500,000. that was yesterday. they had storms at the beach. we can calm down today, 76 ocean city. good morning for the anglers. 71 in town. we're looking for temperatures getting back up to 89 for the

two-degree guarantee. isolated thundershower popping up this afternoon. let's see what's happening on the roads with kim brown. >> thank you. we have a clean ride around the outer loop right now between whitemarsh boulevard and providence road. however, an object in the roadway, try not to hit it, between 695 and loch raven boulevard. reports of an object in the roadway there. and bedford road between grenada and clover hill, in pasadena, downed power lines. use grenada as an alternate. and cecil county, route 7 at crestwell avenue, the creek flooded and that has the road closed there. downtown, west fayette at st. paul street. no problems there. outer loop, this is going to be -- excuse me, 695 -- 95 southbound approaching whitemarsh boulevard, no problems to report in either direction there. back to you -- actually, let's check linda with the ravens now. see how they are doing. >> reporter: that's right. they are getting their star

with fans this morning as we have our receiver back. >> reporter: good morning. we're in ravens country at the 7-eleven in carney. this is great news for a monday morning. even better news for the ravens and all their fans. they say this is just the pick-me-up they need. the star receiver announced his retirement three weeks ago but since had a change of heart. he was back on the field sunday for his first practice with the ravens. despite the rain fans were delighted to see him there. the pro bowler said his family was the main reason he decided to retire. that decision came not long after the death of steve mcnair. but after numerous calls and visits from teammates and coaches mason changed his mind. fans say they are excited to see him come back and can't wait for a great season. >> i think they have a really awesome deal going on now. if mason does play like he did a couple of years ago i think they are going to make it all the way to the super bowl.

what and when. in baltimore, police shot and wounded a man after he say he lugged at them with a screwdrier. police on saturday say the officers walked in on a man as he was robbing a convenience store in south baltimore. he apparently lunged at the officer. they shot and hit him in the head. police haven't released his name. the white marlin gets underway in ocean city. organizers say the open is the world's largest tournament with more than $2.5 million in prize money this year the video is impressive. more than 300 boats are expected to compete. the tournament runs through friday and weigh-ins begin at 4:00 p.m. everyday. go get them. anglers. 5:47. pretty decent weather now compared to the rough weather we had the last couple of days. 71 degrees now in baltimore.

yes, we're looking basically pretty quiet along the eastern shore. even though they had storms blow through last night. clouds pushing off the coast. maybe rough seas because of what is happening there and maybe clipped with high clouds this morning but looks like we're in better shape than yesterday. let's shift back to the great lakes. line of storms coming through wisconsin and across michigan now. we'll focus on michigan for the next few days because in the detroit area there will be greeting ofthe pringle party. yes. four days away from the pringle/carlin wedding. showers tomorrow morning. not sure when the flight is actually coming in. maybe it's best that we don't announce that. showers and storms for them tomorrow afternoon. that shifts eastbound, we're watching this band that may actually reach us as we head through wednesday with spotty showers and storms. a quiet week. let's see if we can extend that through friday, the big day out there in eastern michigan. today, toll 89 degrees,

mostly sunny skies. maybe an isolated shower this afternoon but the chances are so small that most of you will stay dry. tonight, back in the mid-60s. we should call this generally clear with patchy fog. the outlook for the rest of the week, 90-degree day tomorrow, 91 in fact. 89 wednesday. scattered showers and storms. drying out thursday and cooling down, low 80s with more showers friday. 5:49. let's see what's happening on the roads with kim. >> thank you. as we check the harbor tunnel and fort mchenry tunnels, no problems there. however, i'm getting word of a crash 95 northbound on the exit to riverside parkway, that is route 543, that exit ramp is closed because of a crash there. still possibly debris in the roadway 695 at loch raven boulevard outer loop. and pasadena, grenada and clover hill road closed because of downed power lines. use geneva as an alternate.

aarp is not ready for them yet. jerry and lou, both well into their 70s and 80s but both fifth-degree black belts. the 74-year-old lou, also known as the kid around town, former marine and 84-year-old jerry is a world war ii vet and says age is just a state of mind. >> you have a chronological age,mental age and physical age. i'm only chronologically 84, physically i'm 20. mentally i'm 6. both war vets sets say if you stay active you don't give your body a chance to tighten up. martial arts keeps them loose and on their game. >> they look good. we'll find out what our degrees are going to be in a minute. >> stay with us. we look outside before we head to break. 71 now at rehoboth beach. it would be nice to be there now. but, we'll go to the 6:00
