>> and they seem to target very prepubescent and very early teen children, and that is extremely disturbing. >> reporter: police say nicklas and honea also have a paramedic background. the news has really shocked their essex neighborhood. >> everybody is pretty much surprised. i mean, everybody that i know that has known them has been surprised about it. nobody can really believe it. >> reporter: here is what is disturbing. police have not been able to find or identify the children seen on any of the videos. they're asking anyone who knowing if a child has been this contact with the suspects to call the crimes against children unit at 410-853-3650. nicholas is being held without bail and honea's bail is set at $5 million. baltimore city's fire department is trying to figure out how one of its paramedics pronounced a man dead this weekend when he definitely was not.

it happened at a northwest baltimore convenience store on garrison boulevard. police answered a burglary alarm and found 51-year-old michael quarles in the store. he lunged at police with what he thought was a knife, so an officer shot him once in the head. paramedics pronounced quarles dead at the scene. but half hour later, detectives were startled when the suspect let out a sigh. the paramedics returned and transported quarles to sinai hospital. >> of course there may have been some medical protocols violated. we're not certain at this point. >> the fire department is investigating, and the paramedic could face a demotion, suspension, or termination. the suspect is still in critical condition. city police are also investigating four weekend murders. two of the victims were 18 years old. one was shot in the back in west baltimore across from gwynns falls park. a 47-year-old man was shot in the leg at the same time. early on saturday an 18-year- old was stabbed to death during

a fight near downtown. police have arrested a 17-year- old in that crime. and there was another shooting in the 2100 block of edmondson avenue. police say someone walked into an auto store saturday afternoon and shot a man in the back of the head. he is in critical condition there is no word on a suspect or a motive. baltimore has now had two violent weekends in a row. and that's sparked outrage from west baltimore neighbors, who rallied together today saying it's time to silence the violence. >> out of our comfort zone and meet the people who need the help so they can stop taking the life. because a life is worth more than what they're thinking. a life is worth more than what they're doing. a life is worth more than what they even think think they have to shoot somebody for. they don't have the right to take another person's life. >> a neighborhood vigil is planned for next saturday. the cleanup continues tonight in carroll and frederick counties following the severe storms that spawned tornadoes.

the national weather service confirms that three tornadoes hit the area last friday, damaging homes and uprooting trees. some of the worst damage was around finksburg. one woman broke her wrist. >> i went into the house and tried to close the door from the house to the garage. which is like a big brown door. and it just closes like this. and so i went to close it like that, and the wind was coming at me. and i didn't have a chance. it blew me back and i landed on my wrist. >> the eastern shore got its fair share of problems yesterday. as the counties face thunderstorms as well as tornado and flash flood warnings, the storms knocked out power to part of south ocean city for a while early sunday morning. chief meteorologist norm lewis joins us now with the first forecast. looking much better today. >> they certainly are, marybeth. around the baltimore area, no precipitation. but maryland's most powerful radar has indicated one little shower. now starting to try to get organized. let me zoom into it. it's down on the lower eastern shore there it is right there.

around the salisbury, delmarva area. that shower is moving towards the north at about three miles an hour. you can probably outrun it the way it's going right now. but those little pop-up showers are possible during the summer time. here your forecast for the metro baltimore area for the next couple of hours this evening. partly cloudy skies. no precipitation. temperatures holding in the 80s for the next couple of hours. we are expecting some heat and humidity tomorrow. and also the possibility of some pop-up showers. we'll tell you all about it, coming up. a man died in a back riverboating accident. 26-year-old scott yeggi was being pulled hen he fell off a large inner tube. the boat operator turned around to get him and he felt a bump under the boat near a propeller. other people on the boat saw a motionless yeggi floating on the water. police say they smelled alcohol on the boat operator's breath. he was arrest and charged with operating a vessel while unthe influence of alcohol.

a carbon monoxide leak pointed ten people this morning on shipp friend road at the commons white marsh. the leak came from two hot water heaters with clogged filters. the six adults and four children were treated at area hospitals. and police are searching for a man who robbed a woman at knifepoint outside of the anne arundel mills mall. the victim works in the mall and was walking to her car when the suspect pulled out a knife and took her purse. police say the suspect left the area in a brown pickup truck with a loud exhaust. they also apparently know who the man is, but will not release his name until he has been arrested. police have also arrested three suspects who robbed two people at a anne arundel county light rail and then tried to escape on a bus. the group of eight male suspects robbed them at the cromwell station just before midnight after implying that they had a gun. the group then got on an mta bus and headed down richie highway. but the victims contacted police who stopped the bus and held everyone on board until

the victims could arrive to identify the three suspects. the cash for clunkers program may be running on empty. white house officials say the program is still up and rung, even though it ran out of money last week. now they're waiting for the senate to vote the program another $2 billion. the president's pledge to honoring the cash for clunkers program through the weekend produced a flurry of trade-ins for local car dealers. now as jeff hager reports, car dealers hope the government refuels its most popular economic stimulus plan. >> reporter: jerry drove from pikesville to bel air in his 1999 gmc jimmy, and he may never drive it again. >> we need to get rid of this car and need to get rid of it today. >> reporter: the cash for clunkers program finds the back lot of this dealership filling up with junker, while new cars with high gas mileage and low price tags are disappearing out front. >> we're actually working with our manufacturers today, trying to get our cars brought in, and trying to get supplement cars

at the current time. because it's been a huge success. >> reporter: the program allows car owners or the trade in gas guzzlers for up to $4,500 in trade value towards new gas- saving models. in the month of july, the jones junction auto group took in almost 250 vehicles in trade, and will be submit paperwork to what is officially known as the car allowance rebate system, or cars, for about a million dollars. coming off one of the hottest car buying weekends in the last year, some car deals are starting to back off on the program, but not here at jones junction. the u.s. how many times has already voted on refueling the program with another $2 billion. and even though the senate is yet to vote on the measure, this dealer is taking a chance. >> we're good for monday and tuesday. >> reporter: for owners like jerry, it's time to move his clunker with high miles before it's too late. >> 175,000. it needs several things done to it. and do i think it's worth more

than 300? no. i think it's probably worth about 3 to 500. >> reporter: you could make about 4 grand on it. >> that's why i'm here today. i would never be able to get 4500 on a trade-in. >> reporter: jeff hager, abc 2 news. >> last week when news leaked out that the cash for clunkers program was to be run out of money, dealers at jones junction remained open, striking deals with anxious buyers into the wee hours of the morning. and cash for clunkers also means a lot of cash for ford. the carmaker says it's on track to post its first monthly sales increase in two years. ford says the clunkers program put it over the top in july, selling about 161,000 vehicles. it would be the first sales jump by any of the six biggest carmakers since last summer. [ closing bell ] and the stock market extends its summer rally. positive reports on manufacturing and banking sends stocks sharply higher today. the dow closed up 115 points
