thursday. with some cooler air, a little bit less humidity. friday we'll get a break from the heat. but saturday and sunday the heat comes back in with scattered showers and thunderstorms and high humidity. same thing on monday and tuesday. we'll talk again tonight at 11. >> thanks, norm. speaking of the heat and the sun, ocean city has passed emergency legislation banning the sale or possession of salvia. salvia is a hallucinogenic herb sold by many boaralk shops. authorities are going store to store making sure it is off the shelves. salvia is promoted to teens as a legal high. >> you close your eyes, and then you feel as though your in a dream world. >> these types of drugs and chemicals can have a very dark side. >> reporter: they're talking about salvia divinorum. haven't heard of it? chances are your teenager has. >> all the kids are trying it. you can buy it anywhere. >> reporter: shelley richards

found out about salvia from her 16-year-old son. >> he had come in, and his eyes were red, and i asked him what he had done. >> reporter: he had taken an herb in the mint family. it was originally used by indians in mexico for traditional healing ceremonies, and to induce visions, out-of- body experiences. >> it's amazing to me how they can sell this stuff. >> reporter: abc 2 news found it sold online. but you can also find it in stores. signs are on the front door and store employees are ready to talk about it as undercover cameras watched and listened. >> can you explain it? it makes your body go to a different place. >> reporter: salvia is smoked or chewed for the high. and the instructions say it's a tool for self-discovery. but these store clerks warn that they had heard stories about bad trips. >> one time and was running down the block like running two

able to make a decision about on our own. >> reporter: but shelley richards wants lawmakers to take a closer look at this drug. she also wants parents to warn their teens right now before they try out a so-called legal high of a potentially dangerous drug. >> i want people to know that there is these things out there like this that -- that kids are just getting ahold of. >> that was jamie costello reporting. salvia is banned in ten states, including delaware, but not in maryland. ocean city police also say they found salvia in three businesses today. they confiscated the product and charges are pending. okay. so you may have noticed rob carlin is not here tonight. she off getting hitched. so i have the sports headlines for you. starting with the bad news out of ravens training camp. ravens offensive tackle adam terry will be placed on

reserve. he has not taken part in training camp, and coach john harbaugh says terry will probably miss the entire season. the orioles take on the tigers again tonight after losing to them last night. the game began in fine fashion as the o's led 5-0 in the first inning. it went down hill from there as the tigers battled back to tie the game and eventually win with a walkoff home run in the bottom of the 9th inning. the orioles lost 6-5. they have now lost 13 of their 17 games since the all star break. and the white marlin got off the a foggy start this morning in ocean city. but that didn't stop hundreds of fishermen from trying to hook a prize winner. the 36th annual white particular lynn open began yesterday. it's the world's largest billfish tournament with more than $2.5 million in prize money this year. weigh-ins start at 4:00 every afternoon. and right now the leading marlin waited in at 76.5 pounds. and the top tuna at 249 pounds. if you can't get down the ocean
