hotel in rehoboth. they are bouncing off the bottom. sun's coming off over the atlantic. head out to western maryland and 50 degrees right now. almost in the 40s. that's garrett county. the high clouds could invade the skies for a few hours midday. so the graphic this evening, there may be a time it turns partly to mostly cloudy. warmer than yesterday's 78 but lower than the normal expected. here's kim with the traffic. >> reporter: it appears as if everyone decided to go to work at the same time. we have a lot of volume and congestion out there. not getting any word of any incidents causing the slowing. it's just a lot of people on the roadways at the same time. typical for a friday commute.

if you are going downtown, keep in mind that charles street will be closed starting today at 7:00 a.m. between center streets and reed streets. calvert will probably be your best alternate. westbound northern parkway between rowland avenue and falls road, the right lane remains closed for utility work. as you make your way southbound 95 at owings mills, keep many mind there is a crash on the onramp to the outer loop partially blocking the exit ramp. hartford county at the tidings bridge, the right shoulder is blocked because of the earlier disabled vehicle. looking here downtown will be right around the lexington street market and people are out there getting breakfast looking good down there in baltimore at this time. jamie, back to you. when you see these pictures, it will be hard to believe there were two cars there. it will be even harder to figure out why this had to

happen. a driver after i stolen car slams into that car and the woman inside was killed. >> reporter: a mangled mess was all that was left when a woman was killed after a man driving a stolen car crashed into hers. the crash happened on the corner of north calhoun and west lexington streets yesterday afternoon before 4:00. police say the suspect was spotted driving a stolen car but sped up driving so erratically, police called off their pursuit. six blocks later, the driver ran into a four-way stop and smashed into the victim's car. although police did not chase the driver, some witnesses on the scene believe officers should have done more. >> they have helicopters, they can just follow them and set up road blocks. >> reporter: police say the suspect is in serious condition at an area hospital.

sherrie johnson, abc 2 news. and a chief of pediatrics of a hospital is in critical condition. his car ran into the back of a disabled tractor-trailer on route 50 near pitsville on wednesday. at last check, he's in critical condition. you can call it a lesson taught the hard way. a man is still in critical condition after trying to swallow a plastic bag filled with heroin. when officers tried to stop hib. police are telling us she have nabbed the man accused of robbing a woman at the mall. 24-year-old joshua stone is charged with robbing the woman in the parking lot at knife point. stone apparently took the purse and drove off in a pickup truck. abc 2 news is working for you right now trying to keep you safe in your own backyard.

we're back with an update on steven tyler of aerosmith. he's still recovering in the hospital. wednesday night, he fell from the stage at a concert in south dakota. the 61-year-old, we're told remains in good spirits. and they managed to keep a big smile, a big secret from police. while proving there's some cracks in the intake procedures out there, the man was arrested earlier this week by houston police officers. the man was taken to the city jail and spent a day before being transferred to another jail. after going through intake procedures, he's then taken to the showers. the final step before going to a cell. there the man then tells police he has a weapon. several searches and mees had missed a large gun with two magazines. why? the 600 pound man had the gun tucked away under his layers of

fat. >> see, officers lift up and look under. if it's there, it needs to be searched. >> the 25-year-old is now charged with having a prohibited item in a constructional that silt. let's get back to the breaking news. we take you to new york city, lower manhattan. we understand that's been a massive water main break here. we're talking on west broadway into wayne. this is about six blocks south of canal street where you buy those $7 purses. again, if you know where west broadway and hudson kind of like do the v into west broadway that's where it is. most of the buildings are commercial buildings. a lot of businesses in the buildings. so it's east of the hudson. if you are taking a bus tour up there today it will be jam packed in lower manhattan blocks away from new york city hall. we'll keep an eye on that. we'll take a break and be back. clouds beginning to stroll in. we have a brand new hot air mass that and this band of cloudiness could block out the sun for a couple of hours giving ace partly sunny to mostly cloudy setup but we call it a good amount of sunshine for most of the day. then we pump in some of the heat towards the weekend. the two degree guarantee gets us to 85. i'm calling it sunny but there may be a few areas with the clouds. the weekend outlook 90 tomorrow and the evening through sunday morning could have a thunder shower then 95 on sunday. we'll check out the beach forecast in a bit. here's kim now with a check on traffic. the earlier congestion we saw on the outer loop of liberty road has cleared out a bit. we had usual volume delays at this time. we were working 0 a crash on the opposite side right around the baltimore national pike.

stolen car. sherrie johnson explains the story that is hard to understand. >> reporter: she was just crossing an intersection minding her own business when all of a sudden her life was taken into a car accident. we're still waiting for an i.d. for a woman kills when a crash happened just before 4:00 in the afternoon. police say the suspect was spotted driving a stolen car but sped off driving so erratically, police called off the pursuit. six blocks later, the driveway hit on the driver ears side. >> the car flipped over, hit the tree. his car hit the tree. they say the woman died. >> reporter: the woman was taken to shock trauma where she later died. sherrie johnson, abc 2 news. now to video you'll only

see here. just before midnight a baltimore city pleat happened. the woman was dragged by the car and the officer suffered minor injuries. this morning, police are looking for the driver who hit the two. they say it was a woman driver behind the wheel of a gold honda. he was living his dream, a dream and life cut way too short. 23-year-old brandon weill slipped off a rocky ledge in croatia falling to his death. he graduated from annapolis pnd and he's been doing what i'd like to do. his parents are trying to make sense of the accident that took his life. >> nobody should have to do that. it's just not right that your child dies before you.
