just looking at clear to partly cloudy skies this morning. satellite looks worse than it really is, i think most of us wake up mostly sunny. our two-degree guarantee 92, isolated storm popping up in the afternoon that will increase in likelihood this evening and tonight. let's see what's happening on the roads at 5:30 with kim. >> thank you. we have volume building southbound on 95 approaching whitemarsh boulevard headed towards both the fort mchenry tunnels and the 695/895 split. no real delays or incidents at this time. good news on the beltway, the earlier crashes at the outer loop and route 70 are in the final stages of clean-up. it should be gone soon. same with 395 northbound at mlk, that earlier crash did block the right lane but it should move out, probably within the next 20 minutes or so. if you're headed downtown keep in mind that -- i just got word that calvert street was closed between reed and chase streets as crews repair the watermain break. i got word it's been reopened. charles street still might be a good alternate if you're encountering delays there.

jfx and northern parkway, traffic moving nicely in both directions at this time. back to you. 5:32. the search for a pair of killers in baltimore county is growing this morning. and so is the reward for their arrests. the korean-american grocers and licensed beverage association is offering $2,000 for information leading to an arrest in the murder of 57-year-old jun am kang. shot last month in the store he owned, putty hill liquors. the information leading to an arrest now stands at $4,000 and employees are trying to raise even more money. >> people should not be taking other peoples' lives. especially over a lousy couple of bucks which you're going to get from a liquor store. >> when i came in this store i never ever thought of somebody robbing it. i was always worried about somebody picking something up and walking out the door with it. and now i got to worry about

this. >> if you have information that may help police, call 1-866-7-lockup. metro crime stoppers. and remember, you can remain anonymous. an armed robbery, hours-long barricade and tear gas to flush out the suspects. no, we're not talking about a movie. police say it happened in east baltimore. it all began when two men robbed a gas station on bel air road, that was around 9:30 yesterday morning. the armed robbers then ran into a home on mary avenue only to find a 94-year-old man inside. police took over the neighborhood, surrounded the home and sealed off the area for several hours. they also tried negotiating with the gunman but when that failed they used tear gas to force the suspects out. >> we knew we had an armed suspect on the inside and bringing that hostage out safely was the main priority. >> the police directed me to come here, i got gas and just stayed all day to watch what was going on. >> what did you see? >> all the s.w.a.t. teams, the police activity here, the

helicopter overhead. >> one of the men escaped in thep confusion but police arrested his partner in crime. the elderly man who lives there wasn't injured but was taken to the hospital just in case. 5:33. a look at what is happening today -- lamont davis is scheduled to appear in court for arraignment hearing. he's the person charged with shooting 5-year-old raven wyatt in the head last month in west baltimore. watermen will be helping the department of natural resources in the oyster recovery project called the first batch of oysters on the river. and staff will oppose budget cuts. that is all coming up today. baltimore, are you ready? the city is set to host a new arts festival in the inner harbor which kicks off the weekend of august 22nd near the power plant retail center. more than 15 million in artwork, handmade jewelry, expensive fine art pieces will be on display. the mayor says the new festival

growing up on the bay, the chess or the severn river we needed to know where the fish were biting. that man is bill burton. he used to come to channel 2 and sit with fish as magnets and tell us what we needed to do on a boat. you'll always think of the famous beard and pipe and he'll always be the face i think of when i think of a fisherman. he died yesterday at the age of 82. and yesterday they named a fishing pier on the river after bill burton. he was a tremendous treasure. they came with bull horns, plaquards and strong opinions. >> and let america have it. they were hashing out the pros and cons of this much talked

about health care plan. abc2 news sherrie johnson is here with the talk of the town hall meeting that was held yesterday at towson university. >> reporter: the health care debate rages on and today president barack obama prepares for a town hall meeting for himself to provide more information to the public but last night senator ben cardin took center stage at towson university fielding angry questions on health care reform. the health care reform debate is growing louder across the country and towson is no different. the 500-seat auditorium was packed. cardin had to deal with boos and jeers. at times had to shout over people as he tried to explain the bill. republicans say it's true opposition to president barack obama's health care plan. democrats argue republicans and special interest groups are orchestrating the discontent. but whatever the case may be, many people are not happy about the proposed health reform. >> i disagree with it, that's all. >> this bill is going to be different than any other bill they pass because they are all scams. we have lost faith in the system. >> log on to abc2news.com.

philly and new york, also upper 70s. we had storms roll through around baltimore last night between 10:00 and midnight, they are out but we still have the heat behind and the wind that is continuing to pump in more heat and humidity. we'll have a sunny to partly cloudy sky this morning, basically high pressure sliding offer the east coast and still dominating the picture. with the frontal boundary to the west, it will gradually usher in slightly cooler weather but we still have the heat to deal a with. we checked out yesterday's highs, you can see we settled at 94, tying the mark with new york. 98 richmond. that was the peak of the heat, because back towards columbus, 89 and 84, pleasant in chicago. that is the air that should try to slip in here the next couple days. for this afternoon we'll take to you downtown baltimore, 92 degrees should do it. sunny to mostly cloudy skies. maybe a thundershower by 6:00 but a chance of storms to the north and west better. isolated thundershower
