shower popping around. we're leaning into the weekend. some people starting the weekend today. some of us have to wait for the real weekend. rehobeth, we have a walker out there on the boardwalk, 72 degrees. and back to baltimore. we have clear skies and a little bit haze around there. and look at the fog in westminster. wednesday the winds are north, northeast. that is just stall ago cross central maryland and the bay. and we brought in some showers overnight. and we have clearing around parts of the beltway where we had fog develop north and south of annapolis in the bay bridge and eastern shore with the shower overnight. and the patchy fog gives way to a partly sunny morning. and some scattered shower popping up this afternoon with a 2-degree guarantee high of 83. but it will remain in the 70s north and west of town. but right now, we've got to get

are pumped up about the beltway battle. and fans are excited and ready to see their teams in action. large crowds are inspectioned to fill area restaurants and bars. and this means lots of profit for area businesses. some business owners stocked up on beads and t-shirts and other paraphernalia expecting big profit. many feel this kind of fan excitement is good for the economy. the ravens' season opener will happen on september 13th. and a lot of folks are focusing their attention to that time. you can find out the player stats and game schedule and find out who won the big game if you you are not able to stay up that late.

log onto abc2news.com to get that information. investigators want to know who is responsible for vandalizing a football in baltimore county and stealing donated food out of the concession stand. >> they took like 25 cases of gatorade, all of our candies, potato chips. >> this happened this week at county home park in crockesyville. and the bleachers were also vandalized. this is one of the major fundraisers for the crockesyville football program. it helps to pay the reg station for fees for kids that can really afford it. >> it's not about the money. it's about the kids playing football. so the concession as lou us to get kids play that otherwise would not be able to. >> and police have no suspects and the league has received some donations to try to make up for what was stolen. federal officials investigating june's deadly train cash are now backing off

about statements made last week about the safety system. a spokeswoman for the ntsb said that they first learned about a march failure of the train's safety system last week. but on wednesday she said a metro employee spoke about the march incident the day after the june 22nd crash. a crash was avoided back in march only after a train operator used an emergency break to avoid hitting another train. consolation energy is going to help make the air cleaner and greener. the challenge is a nine-month program to raise awareness about energy conservation. they'll promote ways to reduce household energy use and recycling. energy conservation is not just about reducing your bills at home. >> energy independence and security. there's climate change and

at a warm muggy an environment. slipping to 69 in town. and some patchy fog because of the rain that moved through yesterday, overnight and this morning. our front stalled around here. we have slightly cooler, drier air trying to work n but there will be showers redeveloping this afternoon. best chance will be around the lower eastern shore. the showers out of southern pa may try to make their way across the border. but a small chance for us tomorrow afternoon and this afternoon. we'll keep the moisture around for saturday morning and the eastern shore and the beaches with the showers trying to ling gear into the first part of the weekend. we'll go from partly sunny to mostly cloudy. the guarantee temperature in baltimore, 83. 78 in westminster and 79 in parkton. tomorrow make it back to about 89. i'll check on the beach and the weekend outlook in a bit.

are wondering if the president is focused on the wrong problem. in a recent poll, 49% of people disapprove of how the president is handle being the deficit. the president maintains the healthcare plan will not increase the deficit. in hagerstown, maryland senator ben cardin got another earful about healthcare reform. the theater was packed with people. it only holds about 500 people and that meant as many were left outside. on several occasions, the senator was shouted at by demonstrators. but it was an 11-year-old that raised the best question about the controversy. >> say my dad and grandfather both came down with cancer, would my dad get prize or the care because he's younger and can contribute longer to society?

a deal yesterday that replaces the ray lewis gateway sports complex with a gambling complex run by the baltimore group it gives them a more visible location and larger plot of land for up to 3700 slot machines. a ocean city hotel will remain closed till they find the source of a carbon monoxide leak. the hotel's gas burning equipment has not been ruled unite as the source for the leak. they're searching the entire building. and the hotel does not have carbon monoxide detectors even though ocean city law requires them. eight retriever nix puppies are looking for a good home this morning after they were found in a trash dumpster. they were discovered by two young men in highland town. they were in a plastic box, close to death. the men cooled the pups down with water and air

founding the special olympics. the president handed out the nation's highest honor to 16 people. they received the presidential medal of freedom. that was billy jean king there. sandra day o connor. those are a few of the people that received the honor. the presidential medal of freedom was created when president truman wanted to honor civilian service during the war. a popular website where you can buy tickets for attractions in florida is in trouble this morning h ticket mania based in orange county florida accused of using stolen credit cards, using them to buy tickets and then selling them for less money on line. and the damage could total more than $100,000. >> they have no knowledge some of the people that their credit
