695 between 895 at hollands ferry road, the two left lanes are blocked. they have the southwest side of the outer loop between washington boulevard and bw parkway running slow. looking at the jfx at 41st street, both directions are running along smoothly. southbound side looks good. jamie, back to you. michael phelps was in a car accident. now, he's not hurt. mees say you can forget beer and liquor. so when the biggest olympic champion of them all is in a car accident in his hometown, we send sherrie johnson live to hear what people have to say. sherrie, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. we're here in loch raven talking to a lot of people at the 7eleven and what they are talking about is michael phelps. he was in a car accident last might. it happened around 9:00 at the intersection of biddle and calvert streets. now, he's okay. he was not injured in the car accident, but the other driver, a female driver driving a honda accord, was shaken up and taken to a local hospital as a

precaution. two passengers in phelps' car were not injured. phelps has been interviewed by police. officers say alcohol was not a factor. folks here at the 7-eleven hope he's okay. >> i probably feel bad for him and his family. i hope he recovers. >> oh, my god. i cannot believe that could happen to him. i mean, honestly, that's just amazing. i hope he's all right, though. >> reporter: meanwhile, police are still investigating this crash trying to figure out exactly what happened last night. reporting live in loch raven, sherrie johnson, abc 2 news. we have a massive recall of a popular children's toy to tell you about. little tikes are pulling back toy workshops and trucks half an 11-month-old child got a plastic nail stuck in his throat. it involves toys sold with the red or blue plastic toy nails that are about 3 inches long. they were sold around the country last june. you can go to our web site,

abc2news.com for more information on getting a refund or replacement toy. then you click on the links for little tikes. there is a new study out that shows chocolate can ward off the grim reaper. heart attack survivors who eat chocolate two or more times are more likely to live than those who don't even touch the stuff. the study says chocolate can lower your blood pressure and improve blood flow. this is the first study that seems to show that chocolate can rd off death. supporters called them an alternative to tobacco, but when it comes to electronic cigarettes, we have skeptics. the cigarettes don't burn tobacco. instead, they work as a vaporizer powered by a brattry. supporters say it is a safe alternative to smoking. the e-cigarette is not f dw. a approved. low levels of nick keen and other chemicals cause cancer. for some it's the only thing that gets them to put down the tobacco.

i don't think can you do this. we have the big cat on litter campus. this cat got her high school diploma. her name is oriole and received hadder ged lou jefferson's online. her owner in control of the mouse, the cat took the online test and got mostly as and bs. her owner works for the better business bureau trying to expose it as a fraud. >> even a cat can get a high school diploma if they go to the right places. >> oriole's diploma cost $200 and although she hasn't found a job yet. they need the last name. look at that, a high school graduate right there. he is the most powerful man in the world. why this pint sized reporter got the interview most journalists can only dream of. right now, we're dreaming of a nice weekend, aren't we? 20 minutes away from "good morning america" at 7:00. we'll be right back.

developing during the course of the afternoon. our computer model doesn't really hint at that much in terms of moisture, most of it locked down through southern virginia and north carolina. we will fill the clouds back in. we qo do the same thing tomorrow afternoon with the high heat and humidity. it looks like the temperatures well stay up there as we'll gradually degrease the humidity, meaning we get a chance to dry things out by the end of the weekend and early next week. this afternoon, downtown biewlt baltimore, that should read 85 degrees with a chance of a shower or thunderstorm. there's the two degree guarantee with scattered showers and storms. we're going to take you from baltimore to the beaches. looks like 83 will do it in ocean city. there will be a chance of showers and storms. a better chance out there this afternoon. leading into the weekend, temperature 83 tomorrow and 86's the pick of the weekend in ocean city. here's kim now with a check of

cut or stubbed toe when it involves superstar michael phelps, it makes news. cirie? >> reporter: good morning, jamie, yes. we're here at this la loch raven 7-eleven talking about michael phelps who was in a car accident about 9:00 last night at the intersection of biddle and calvert streets. we are told he was not injured in the crash. the other driver of the honda accord that he hit, that female driver was not injured but was taken to the hospital just as a precaution. two passengers in phelps' car were not injured. phelps has been interviewed by police and alcohol was in the a factor. here's what local folks have to say about the accident. >> he's influenced a lot of people. i just hope he's okay. >> i feel bad for him and that he's a really, really good person. i went to towson high with him. when i was younger, me and him were -- i used to go to

child but only after the child bit him first. >> you are almost a grown man, you're 17. >> the little boy says he never bit the lifeguard. the mom would like her opinion back. don't you hate it when someone takes your parking spot? the one judge in la plate it maryland so fed up with losing his spot, the judge got back by deflating the tires of a woman who parked in his spot. there was construction on the street and she said she had no idea that the space was reserved. the judge says he left notes 0 on cars barked there before but the deflated tires are. the judge will not apologize. >> usually when someone does this, charges are filed.

i'd like to know what will happen in this case. the home of a community activist is shot in her own home this week. miss shirley was walking tv in her home and she was hit. the vigil will be at 6:00. mees so in suspect pz. yoonis kennedy shriver will be laid to rest in a private funeral. a group of special olympians will carry the special olympics torch into hyannis, massachusetts inside the church ahead of shriver's casket before the mass today. thousands attended a public wake yesterday. shriver was the sister of president john f. kennedy and massachusetts senator ted kennedy. lettary guitarist les paul has died at the age of 94. ♪ [music] ♪ yeah. mr. paul was an inventor as
