there's a weather system wack to the west as well that will help steer this out but then eastern new england has the problem on saturday. we have to consider the funeral for kennedy. so that is another issue as well over the weekend. we take you to parkville middle school, psyche, harford county starts school today. we're mostly clear, 70 degrees and sunny to partly cloudy with temperature pushing 80s this afternoon. the low ends of our two-degree guarantee, 85, with a chance of thunderstorms. 6:31. here's kim to psyche you out on traffic. >> thank you. good morning. as we look here at route 50 and 97 in anne arundel county traffic is moving along nicely if you're traveling 50 headed to the capitol beltway, 97 northbound no problems to report us a make it towards 695. downtown, a bit of a problem. eutaw street closed in both directions between baltimore and saratoga. saratoga closed in both directions between greene and mlk. this is because of continuing utility work. just got word that southbound harford road between the alameda and bonaparte just reopened.

police activity cleared. westbound route 70 at route 29, that crash cleared, however, we have minor delays traveling route 70 approaching the columbia pike. jfx at northern parkway, traffic moving along smoothly in both directions. back to you. news can spread pretty fast out in catonsville. this one has taken over. >> someone is exposing himself to unsuspecting women. linda so here to explain that police fear the next crime could be bolder. >> reporter: the last time you struck the suspect actually broke into a woman's apartment while she was sleeping. look at this sketch, who police are looking for. the suspect has a distinctive mole on the left side of his face. the most recent incident happened on sunshine place in catonsville. police say the man climbed through an open window, into the victim's bedroom where she had fallen asleep. he was completely naked. the victim screamed and the suspect ran away. police say that same man also banged on the woman's bedroom woman on brangbling oaks way,

the author's college experiences but members of a woman's rights group in north carolina state university say this book is turning this movie into offensive to women. listen to what they are saying. >> it's not realistic. it's not appropriate. it's objectification, humiliating, degrading and devalues women as a whole. >> all i know is i just write about drinking and hooking up. and being a normal dude. i mean, i sold a million books so clearly a lot of people like my work. i don't know why some people are mad. >> despite the protests and showing of the movie it was sold out. the university says it will consider donating profits to a rape awareness campaign. this is a study we want to get in on. >> it turns out what kind of wine you prefer says something about your own personality. somebody actually did research on this if you can believe it. they found there could be a connection with the wine that you drink and your personality. a university in england tested the wine preference of two

groups of people. those who liked sweet wine and those who like dry wine. each group was also given a personality test to evaluate traits such as whether they were impulsive, empathetic, open and agreeable. the study shows that drinkers who preferred a sweet wine were more likely to be impulsive. those who chose the dry varieties had greater openness. >> you? >> i like both. impulsive and open. they were just trying to get their story. >> but a group of reporters almost ended up becoming the news. we'll show you this video. and time is everything in this fiery car rescue. 6:36. relatively quiet this morning. we're tracking the strengthening tropical storm danny and how that could impact ocean city and the rest of our forecast for the weekend. let's check the roads with kim. >> not a lot going on here in anne arundel county. route 50 at route 97, moving

without problems. but now let's check the buses and trains with mark jones. >> reporter: good morning. look for the number 15 bus to be diverted westbound at saratoga and greene due to a watermain break repair. the 1, 8, 20, 36, 40, 5 and 91 diverted westbound at fayette and park. utility work. the number 5, 19, 19, 27, 91 diverted southbound at eutaw and saratoga. number 16 bus is 30 minutes late. had earlier marc train delay but on time now on the camden, penn, or brunswick lines. for the mta transit team, i'm mark jones. ah, the first day of school.

>> get your bleep pleep out now! >> ma'am. >> yikes. some people just don't want to be on tv. find out what happened here. a couple comes to the rescue after they see what happened right in front of them out there on the highway. >> these stories and much more coming up but right now send it over to justin. >> good morning. 6:45. a lot of stuff to talk about in the next minute. 69 degrees, low to mid-70s on the eastern shore out towards the beaches and that's where really the main interest is going to be the next couple of days. frontal boundary to the north, sprinkles up towards harrisburg and central pennsylvania, central new jersey and back to the great lakes. we're looking at this frontal boundary that is probably going to stay just near north of the area and wave of low pressure will add more moisture to it. we have a little tropical moisture from the gulf coast in florida but this is the main story, danny, track close to ocean city, some of this moisture will come up the

coast, planning for a wet weekend. danny, up to 60 mile-per-hour sustained winds and 100 to 150 miles offshore of ocean city or within sights of ocean city come saturday morning. this is a 2:00 a.m. plot with 75 mile-per-hour sustained winds and passing in the morning ours up towards new england. it will bring heavy rain to the eastern shore and beaches and we'll be on the fringe of it in baltimore. today though partly cloudy with an afternoon thunderstorm, a high of 85. we'll check out that weekend forecast in a bit. let's check the roads with kim. >> traffic on the outer loop on the west side starts to slow about here at liberty road as you make your way down towards the route 70 interchange. i believe it's from the residual accident we had on 70 westbound approaching the columbia pike that has traffic backed up on the beltway. most of the roads are checking in nicely, no problems to let you know about at the tunnels. downtown could be different. eutaw street remains closed in both directions between baltimore and saratoga. saratoga street between greene street and mlk closed in both directions as crews try to repair the broken utilities

she looked to see who it was and he exposed himself. women living there are in edge. >> it makes me nervous. i have somebody walk with me at night and early morning when i go to work. >> reporter: anyone with information on the suspect's identity is asked to call baltimore county police at 410-307-2020. or metro crime stoppers at 1-866-7-lockup. a $2,000 reward is being offered in the case. police believe the flasher may live in the neighborhood. linda so, abc2 news. a woman is recovering in the hospital after being hurt in a police-involved shooting. all of this happened overnight. sources tell our our overnight photographer pete "on the street" o'neill that the police tried to stop a car on arizona avenue shortly before midnight. when officers went to confront the driver he put the car in reverse, tried to run over the officers. police fired shots at that car and woman was injured in the shootout. right now it's not clear whether she was shot or whether the injury is due to glass.

police haven't caught the driver yet but if you have any information that may help police you're asked to call baltimore city police. at 10:49 in the morning on monday the headline on facebook read the brass elephant is closed. when owner randy stahl looked at his reservation book he saw no table reservations. for the week he decided he would put the four-story mount vernon building up for sale, use the money and try to reopen the restaurant under the same name. it's still a jolt because the brass was always one of baltimore's best restaurants for the who's who dining there. we have a suspected serial robber, recovering in the hospital after one of his victims fought back. police say 39-year-old mark lomax robbed businesses 17 times hitting some of the stores more than once. but it was predictable. there was a predictable pattern that got him caught. he's accused of robbing killer trash clothing in fells point

twice. coming back for a third try and a customer took matters into his own hands. >> he turned his back, i saw a baseball bat behind the counter. i started hitting himself with it. he blocked himself with his hands. >> police hictd up lomax after waiting to hit another location. he faces 17 counts of robbery after he gets out of the hospital. massachusetts senator ted kennedy's body will lie in repose for the next two days before his funeral at the arlington national cemetery in virginia saturday. a family spokesman said kennedy's body will pass through sights that were significant to him. as the hearse heads to the john f. kennedy presidential library and museum. a memorial service will be held there tomorrow. president barack obama will deliver a eulogy on saturday. he will be buried next to his slain brothers john and robert. >> we ask you you you to join us in a moment of silence and we remember the life and legacy of senator edward moore kennedy. >> a moment of silence before

the red sox game yesterday to remember senator ted kennedy. a lifelong sox fan kennedy threw out the first pitch during opening day at fenway earlier this year. the red sox went on to win last night's game. some people just don't want to be on the news. a group of reporters in cocoa beach, florida realized this. just how dangerous their jobs can be sometimes. they tried to talk to relatives of a teenaged girl. >> there wasn't a (bleep) knocking on my - >> why y'all knocking on my door? don't put that camera in my face, man! get out my door (bleep) now! >> ma'am! >> wait a minute, wait a minute! no. from a movie but a couple is pulled from their burning car just seconds before it explodes. this happened in woodburn, oregon. the couple was driving home from a camping trip when they crashed into a barrier and flipped over. two good samaritans stopped and ran over to pull them out of the car. the fire then started to grow. >> flame coming here and getting me a little bit. flame on both sides reaching up and saying pull me out, pull me out. >> seconds later the car blew up the couple hopes to thank the two men in person for saving their lives. they believe their rescue efforts helped them survive a miracle. you can see how lucky they are. one person was rescued from a large boat that caught fire off the coast of miami. the billowing smoke could be seen for miles away as firefighters worked to put out the massive flames the boat destroyed by the fire. no word on what may have caused it or the condition of the man on board. the state's $454 million budget cut hits home for a local family.

we want you to meet the gapps of columbia, four lively little ones, oldest, 9-year-old jessica, 8-year-old johnny, both have autism. dad is unemployed. for several years the family has been getting money from the arcs rolling access program. this helps with school supplies, security, day care, but the organization that works with the developmentally disabled is facing a million-dollar cut to the program. >> times we don't have much -- any income to buy things so they help us. >> the rolling access is a way to help people still waiting for ongoing services and -- to have this cut is going to be, just a tremendous loss. >> the directors say the reduction affects 1,000 families across the state and the cut is scheduled to take effect october 1st. the traffic nightmare continues in downtown baltimore as bge crews are still working to fix a gas main leak extra triggered a really small explosion. fire officials say tuesday night's blast knocked four menhole covers out of position.

around fayette and eutaw streets. bge and public works are investigating exactly what happened. no one was hurt, no customers were affected. fayette and eutaw streets will remain closed as crews continue their repairs. a massive recall to tell you about. involving millions of window blinds. the recall involves blinds sold by companies like pottery barn, ikea and target. the consumer product safety commission says three children died getting caught in the cords that helped move the blinds up and down. the deaths date back to 2006. the recall involves at least six companies. if you would like more information, posted on our web site, head to abc2news.com. 6:54. hell hath no fury like a woman scorned and she used a fire to make her cheating husband pay. >> william taylor stood in the corner of a busy intersection of centreville, virginia, wearing a sign. the sign said "i cheated, this is my punishment." taylor said his wife brokered

the deal and since he wanted to salvage the relationship he didn't tell us about the affair but said he had to stand on the street corner wearing a sign for the rest of the week. 6:54. we're going to focus on ocean city now as tropical storm danny could reach hurricane status and pass within 100 or 150 miles offshore. the track still up in a little bit of a range that far out but we're expecting showers to develop there tomorrow and tomorrow night through saturday morning the heaviest rain with the closest approach probably come near low tide late saturday morning, that is probably going to be the best news for ocean city and heavy rain, gusty winds, looks like beach erosion will be an issue, though. that serve will still be rough as scattered showers linger on sunday this. part, we're going to be -- this part of the bay, we'll be on the western fringe but can still expect showers and thunderstorms friday night through saturday. also with the closest approach near low tide late morning and mid-day saturday but we'll continue to watch that for the
