the home ten days ago and today is his birthday. the outside drain got clogged with storm debris causing the mess. then in west baltimore county this is something you hope you never to do, scoop water out of your car with a plastic cup. this man was driving home with friends when he came upon a flooded street. the driver says it was so dark he didn't realize the road was flooded until he was already in it. >> hit an absolute wall of water, got a huge fright. the car died. next thing i know, i opened the door of my car to see what was going on and the water started flooding in. shut the door immediately. i opened the door and tried to push the car as fast as i could out of the water so the water would stop flooding into my

welcome back to "good morning, maryland." >> didn't like that last night. didn't like it at all. did you get a jolt or two there, justin some. >> i got jolted and then our computers are having issues this morning. hey it is friday. we've got ourselves a lot of action coming up through the weekend. the good news is, danny has lost power and may try to fall apart or be a minimal impact along the shorelines, but we're getting tropical rain from a different storm. first off, how much rain did we get? locally, we had a flood warning in baltimore county and the harbor school has almost 2 1/2 inches of rain in just a couple of hours. perry hall middle school 1.3 inches with about an inch and a quarter up east. cecil county, you are still under flash flood warnings. we'll show you the statewide view socked in with the clouds. we he have heavy rain exiting cecil county. we've got rain pushing off the

shore of anne arundel county and the bay bridge heavy lightning and gusting winds. look out for that pushing through southern pa. a big mess this morning. that's our flash flood warning in harford and cecil going through 7:00 a.m. we've got the chance of rain that will continue throughout the day. please be careful. i cannot mention this enough. do not attempt to drive through water-covered streets. all it take is 6 inches of moving water to pick up an suv. you do not want your car spoken about by kim this morning. you do enterwant to hear it. >> reporter: and i don't want to mention it, trust me. even if it's not raining where you are, expect the roads will be wet. you probably will see ponding. if you check 295 southbound, traffic is moving along nicely. not really too many problems on the major highways. it's really the side streets.

tens of thousands of teachers are needed around the country and dozens are needed right here. >> and many are looking for an affordable place to live. >> millers court is offering more than just spacious living and amenities. >> here's sherrie johnson with how teachers are being enticed to move in. sherrie, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. there is a new community geared toward educators. millers court is an affordable housing complex just for teachers. it was originally a can factory. since july, 80 teachers call it home. teachers pay a reduced rate for

rent. it feature hires ceilings and large living room windows. the complex is located in north baltimore, placing many teachers close to their school. new teachers moving to baltimore are excited about the concept. >> i think millers court for me was the safe way to know that it was cheaper. especially my first year trying to budget a new salary, you know, because just coming out of college you never had ale a salary before. being safe in nigh environment was a factor. >> reporter: rent for one, two and three-bedroom apartments range from 700 to $1500 a month for teachers. normally, that same neighborhood one bedroom would go for $1100 a month. there is a waiting list but it's in the works by 2011. sherrie johnson, abc 2 news. 5:48. we had big storms erupt this

morning. we've had flooding in baltimore, harford and cecil county. aleen gabey's here with a beautiful dog. we were talking about how animals get scared in the storms as well. if you are new to a pet in your family, just understand they can get skittish when we have the big boomers outside. they can hear better than we can so even off in the distance. we have a frontal boundary draped threw hor. it's 60s north of the border. watch the flare up this morning right there on top of baltimore, on top of this frontal boundary that is essentially dealing with a tropical feed coming out of the gulf. that cool air out of the northeast trying to slice across central maryland. we just happened to be under the target as the ingredients came together in the atmosphere. pull back and look at this circulation pulling off. partly because of this upper level feature that's spreading

more of the moisture and more than likely to spread heavy rain our way, it's been helping to cut down on danny offshore, and ripping this thing apart. 40 mile-per-hour winds. it's barely a tropical storm this morning. our forecast leading in through tomorrow. this will be tomorrow afternoon passing well offshore of ocean city. a closer pass regardless of what has been said in tracts throughout the week, most of the energy on the east side will be a small pla player on the coast. 77 today. look out for more potential 80 tomorrow. saturday 77 and heading to ocean city. let me show you this. temperatures in the upper 70s, expect the chance of heavy rain through sunday. getting word of more roads closed. philadelphia road chosed between route 543 and abingdon road so just be aware of that as we check here at the bw parkway southbound at route 175, traffic is moving along nicely here.
